another thing I find funny. Everyone made fun of the ipad 2 because it had a camera "why would I ever use THAT to take a picture". You tell me which of the following pictures look more odd.

personally, that phone looks like its for the same people that need the huge button remote for their tv.

Instead of you people ripping over technology, why not embrace it? Can't you just have a love for the different gadgets out there? I love Apple products, but it doesn't stop me from thinking how cool the Galaxy Note is.

Grow up. This whole battle about software and hardware is like kids who fight over who's toy is better than the other. If you have fun and enjoy what you have, isn't that what matters?

No one is fighting here. Just a spirited debate! I think we all agree that everyone is entitled to their opinion. :)

I have house full of apple stuff too but it doesn't just work. Not if you have to play anything but iTunes media.

And if you want widgets it totally doesn't just work. Same with if you want an unlocked iPhone that is subsidized. While you can if you buy a nexus device....

And from what I'm reading everywhere, not just here, it's just that Android users think everyone is entitled to their own WRONG opinion.
An opinion by nature cannot be right or wrong.
It's only when an opinion is being stated as a fact that it can be subject to scrutiny. ;)

Isn't that kind of obvious though? "It just works" as long as you let Apple products co-mingle in the ecosystem. Obviously if you try to do things outside of what it was designed to do there will be some legwork required (your examples of using media outside of iTunes or adding in widgets applying here).

Here all the Apple fans are right...and on the Android forums all the android fans are right. I'm sure that no one minds a debate over competing systems.
The problem is that too many base their statements and opinions on other peoples statements and opinions and not on personal experience. Somehow the facts get lost in the shuffle.

Anyway....I'm sure we're all eager to see the new iPad tomorrow!

Tried the Galaxy Note at the store. It's huge, but not that huge. I can't reach the edge of the phone with my right thumb, and I have big hands. But it's still usable.

Went for round two with the Note today at AT&T. Just couldn't shake it out of my head after my initial time with it. Gotta say I don't like it anymore after the second go-round. I prefer having one home button versus four different ones. Furthermore the device feels too large IMO. Ideal screen size for me would be in the 4"-4.5" range. Also I had the screen at full brightness and it was still dimmer than my iPhone 4 screen at roughly 75% brightness.

I played with the Note at Best Buy Mobile. I'm 6'-3" so naturally I have big hands (teeheehee) and I could barely get my hands around the device. The thing is a complete joke. Now if you're Shaq or Yao Ming, you're good. :D

Just completed about a week of test it for work. I'm definitely sticking with my 4s. The large screen and 4G are nice but that's about it. Android has definitely made improvements since I was using the original Droid but it still lacks the fit and finish of iOS.

YMMV as with any subjective matter.

The problem is that too many base their statements and opinions on other peoples statements and opinions and not on personal experience.
The real problem IMO is that too many assume that their preferences are everyone else's. No device -- even the iPhone -- is one-size-fits-all (and I mean that figuratively). That, and many seem to derive their sense of self worth from the stuff that they buy and get all defensive when their favorite products are criticized.

As I'm reading through this thread in the doctors office, a lady walks in, sits down, pulls out her Galaxy Note & starts texting on it.

Weird timing.

Call me strange, but I've always used two hands to use my phone.

for me it depends. most of the time yeah I use 2 hands but if I am just checking something (like my email or a txt message) 1 hand is fine. I am not really navigating but instead looking at what came in.

In both those case I use 1 hand for I could see the note working out just fine as the location I send to store those icons on the bar at the bottom are the right most 2 and voice mail is on the main home screen in the bottom right hand corner so very easy to reach with my right thumb.

Either you have girl hands or you're exaggerating just a tiny bit. ;)

It's not small by any means, but define "get your hands around it".

No, you can't grab it and touch finger tips, but holding one is not such an arduous task.
I can almost touch my thumb and ring finger (1/4" gap between them) holding my Skyrocket with an Otterbox case on it. The Note is less only a 1/2" wider.

This phone either has a bad radio (as some sammy's do - see nexus) or it doesn't do HSPA+ well.

Our area won't have lte until the summer, but 3G on the iPhone is pretty fast in this area - I see about 5-7 down, sometimes as high as 8-9.

Picked up a Note for another line on the account and almost every test shows downloads running about half as fast as the iPhone. Yes, I know the Note is intended for lte, but shouldn't it retain speeds as fast as the iPhone in consecutive tests on hspa+?

I do like the features, camera and call quality is nice. But not liking the lack of speed at all. And loading web pages show it's lacking...

it doesn't look like a bad phone . It might be a little bit big for my liking. But if i did have the 300.00 and the 300.00 for my deposit for a new account i wouldn't hesitate on getting this device.

Not sure but that is odd, as I know my GSII and 4S both get basically the same down/up speeds on hspa+

You may have already responded to me in another thread, because I remember you having the Skyrocket, but how would you say it is for battery life?

I had a few posts:

https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/14530377/

https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/14547462/

where I was researching the Note and S2. Also, I've seen comments that these phones don't get very good signal for making calls (i.e., lots of dropped calls or no reception). True? Did you get the Note finally? If so, hw's that been?

I decided to stick with the Skyrocket.
The Note is cool, but I didn't see myself using the pen all that much, so why spend the extra $100.
If it were the same price as the Skyrocket, I might have gone with it.

As for battery, I've had it for a month now and the battery gets me through the day just fine. I've never had to go rushing to a wall outlet even on heavy usage days.
My typical day is from 6 AM to 11 PM at night. That's when I put the phone on the charger right before bed.
I think I've only received one or two low battery warnings. Does it at 20%.
I use WiFi when at home and leave the LTE radio on all the time.
I get great LTE coverage here in Phoenix, so no point in turning it off.

I haven't enabled the power saving mode features yet. I may try sometime as I'm curious how much life I could squeeze out of a charge with that feature enabled.
It let's you control the radios when the phone is not in use and screen power levels when it is in use.
I'll try and remember to grab a screenshot of the power usage tomorrow before bed.
Can't do it today since I've been loading more music on my phone today. It charges while plugged into my laptop, so that will skew any stats for the day.

Oh and I've never had a dropped call since I've purchased it.
Hit a sketchy area in the mountains north of town where signal was a bit weak and the call was hard to hear, but the call never failed.
I can say the call quality on my Skyrocket is better than my wife's 4S.
Her phone sounds like she's under water most of the time. Apple store says nothing is wrong with it, so we'll see if she doesn't switch to an Android device later.
