You hold your phone with two hands when you're talking on the phone...?

Maybe just a little. As I said above, I'm talking about holding the phone with one hand when you're talking on the phone.

Have you tried a Titan? They don't sell the Note here and so I have no real concept of how big it is.

The Titan is pretty much the same size as the Skyrocket.
The Titan's screen is a bit bigger (4.7") vs. the Skyrocket's (4.52") screen.

Titan 5.18" x 2.78" x 0.39"

Skyrocket 5.11" x 2.71" x 0.37"

Note 5.74" x 3.27" x 0.38"

Good to know, thanks. That does make it seem quite a bit bigger.

It will be coming to AT&T very soon. It is big but for those who want a LARGE screen and do not carry their phone in their pocket, it will be a hot seller.

Even my Galaxy S2 makes my 4S screen look tiny!:p

The note fit quite well in my pocket, but I want the next iPod Touch to have a 5" screen, 4g and better cameras.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
The Galaxy note is a useless device IMO. It's gone backwards in tech by having a stylus!! And it's massive as a pocket device plus I bet the iPhone screen still looks better too.
Samsung have lost the plot lately I think, they now have a range of devices differentiated by .3 of an inch and some sizes have multiple versions. I still think Asus is the best range for Android devices.

LMAO... ASUS... are you serious?
ASUS makes a decent tab, but their phones absolutely suck.
Their new PadPhone is an Atrix wannabe with no LTE support and an old SAMOLED display.

As for the "stylus" comment... go back and read what it actually is and not what you assume it is.

I played with a Samsung Galaxy Something in BestBuy yesterday. It's just too big. Uncomfortable to hold and using it as a phone feels like you are holding a small dinner plate next to your face. I don't like it.

Best review of the Samsung Galaxy Something I read so far. It was probably the 10.1 :)

You don't have to use the stylus. Just if you want too, like drawing or note taking.

There are threads upon threads on this forum about what's the best stylus to use with an iPad. The problem is there isn't. Samsung filled this gap with good technology (nothing new btw).

I don't personally have a use for but I can see it being very useful to some.

You claim to have big hands and you couldnt even hold it to talk? Pfff...I can somewhat use the screen 1 handed...holding it to your ear is a breeze 1 handed.

It is not THAT much bigger than the titan. The titan is a big phone too..

I meant the tablets Asus make, they are way better then Samsung. I should have specified I meant the Asus tablets more in my comment.

Ok, so Samsung, if the Galaxy S3 is 4.7" then what's the point in the Galaxy Note? And what's the point in the 10" Note when they make other 10" tablets? Ok maybe it has more of a point in a 10" device but 5"??

No, Apple gave us a revolutionary interface and a way to use it without a stylus, now Samsung have gone full circle and given you a stylus to loose again. What are you seriously going to use it for on a 5" screen? Drawing?

And as for Samsung have lost their way, they have 7", 7.7", 8.9", 10.1", plus the 5" Galaxy note. Why? All run Android, and they also offer different variants of these tablets.
That's what I don't get, do they REALLY need to make a tablet with screen sizes in inch increments?

It would only be full circle if it was a regular dumb stylus and the UI had tiny buttons.

The Samsungs have a built-in Wacom pen system overlaid on the capacitive touch system. That's going forward, not in circles.

What are you seriously going to use it for on a 5" screen? Drawing?

The same things that many people have done for decades, if not centuries, with a medium pocket sized pad and pen. Of course, some people never had a need for that, either.

There are at least a dozen different types of stylus available for the iPad, which demonstrates the desire that many people have to use more than just their finger at times.

Hopefully, you got through to him, since he hasn't bothered to actually read the posts several posts above this one. Maybe he needs a link to what the stylus actually does/is?

Like I mentioned you don't NEED to use the stylus. However its very useful for writing (taking NOTES) or drawing since its pressure sensitive like an actual writing implement in ways the iPad and other tablets (including their own) are not capable of.

Sooo many people recognize how tablets are lacking in schools or business because of there inability to record data and jot diagrams and such as quickly as you can on a simple piece of paper. Now Samsung has a way to do this and save it digitally, convert to text, modify after the fact, print, etc... It might be a step toward the basics but its a much needed step.

As promised... it's a little earlier than 11PM here, but you get the idea.

This was taken off the charger at approx. 6:15AM today.
It represents a typical day for me usage wise.
Anyway... I'm still sitting at 39% at 8:46PM.

I was on WiFi most of the day today as I worked from home.
WiFi eats about the same amount of battery that the LTE radio does, so I consider it a wash.

One thing I noticed is that not all apps show up in the battery stats under usage. Strange, but none of my Amazon apps are listed.
Display time includes the time your reading what ever happens to be on the screen. I noticed most of the time I spent reading Bloomberg news was simply listed as display time and only when I made an update request did it log usage under the app itself. Same thing with the web browser as I was on the web a lot today.

Thanks for posting that. Thanks also for answering a question I had about the Dolphin Browser HD percents. I had seen pics like this elsewhere, and I couldn't understand how they claimed such high browsing time, when the % was so low. So, basically, the % is only for the time loading a page.

Yep... pretty much.
The thing that actually counts is the display time.
All other processes are demand based. So the app only consumes battery when it's actually doing something and not sitting idle. (idle doesn't mean 0 battery usage, but close enough)
Reading a web page is a classic example of this.

I'm sorry but a stylus on a (5") is going full circle considering the screen sizes of mobile phones, also whats the point if the Galaxy S3 is a 4.7" screen size as the Note is just a glorified mobile, it's too small for any use as a tablet. Yes you have an argument for tablets, but not a 5" one. Many would even state a 7" screen is too small for a tablet. And if you don't use the stylus then again what's the point in the Note when it's specs will be a lot less then the S3 and the screen may only be .3" bigger?

The S3 doesn't use the Wacom digitizer the Note series uses.

There is a huge demand for people that want to be able to use a pen to quickly write reports, notes, business stuff so Samsung has made a product for them. Search stylus pen, youll see a ton of people on this forum that want that option.

Samsung also has a product line for people that don't want a stylus (you).

I don't understand why a company providing multiple products for multiple applications confuses you so bad or even upsets you.

If you don't like it no one is forcing you to buy it. If you think it's dumb and pointless you are most certainly entitled to that opinion but it's not going to stop people from buying them. I think the sales figures are around 3 mill with it forecasted to be 10 mill by the end of 2012.

It is just my opinion. I'm not upset at all with it, just don't get what you can do with such a small screen and a stylus and thus what benefits above a more powerful device with a fractionaly smaller screen it offers.

Your just not getting it, it's not going backwards, for one thing it isn't the old school stylus you keep thinking of, read up on it. You can think what you want, but it filled a nice niche for Samsung, as it's selling very well, sure not in the numbers of say the iPhone or GSII but then it's not meant to. It's targeted to a smaller niche, business 101... find a need->full fill that need->make $

I don't want the Note, but there's no denying there are plenty of others/businesses that do. And even if they don't use the stylus and other features there are those that just want a bigger phone for browsing etc... just like there are those that want only a 3.5" screen and anything larger is astronomically too big for a pocket or use in their minds  . The galaxy line will pry come in multiple sizes like before too, or hope they do as I love the 4.3" size.

Finally looked at the Note today. It's exactly what I need. Fits in my shirt pocket just fine, and since I only use the speaker phone, the size up to my ear that some people care about is not an issue (not that I even care what people think...if I need to bring it to my ear for privacy, I will). Contrary to some comments I've seen on the internet, the speaker phone is loud enough. The only thing that was strange was how dark a webpage is compared to any of the other screens.

So, now I just need to decide to get it and not wait for Apple to possibly provide something better than they have. A 4SS will not cut it, which from all the rumors I've seen is what I can expect.
