Looks like a lot of the outlets received the Mystic Bronze since that’s the flagship color. I personally preordered the white ultra. I really wanted to get the regular Note for the flat screen but couldn’t justify paying for an obviously gimped phone.

I read regular s20 and s20+ didn't have the best autofocus either. They didn't have the issues of the Ultra but weren't as good as other phones. That's why I think they went with laser autofocus to improve that aspect of their flagships.

I had the Ultra on release and the S20 plus a few weeks later and it has been my daily ever since. The Ultra autofocus was terrible. Worst on any phone I've used in the past 5 years. The S20 plus has gotten a few camera updates but the autofocus was never bad. But the S20 and s20 plus have a different autofocus method than the Ultra.

I still haven’t watched the event yet. I was working yesterday. I’ve seen the verge highlights video.

On a positive note it seems as though they had a wide variety of presenters. I liked that. On a negative note it seems as though they were taking pointers from another companies keynotes. I miss DJ Koh at these events.

Watching unpacked. 15 minutes in. Yes they seem to have taken some cues in terms of presentation style but I like it so far.

It's a shame the bronze color is the only Note Ultra with the matte finish on the back.

That said, I only see the back of the phone once in a blue moon.

Ultra was the only model that had autofocus issues.
Maybe officially it’s just the Ultra but I’ve got approximately 70% failure rate of blurry pictures of cats being still, to think something is up with my regular S20, too. It can’t focus on fur, I think. Landscapes, architecture subjects are fine. Videos are great.

He's not interested in the S-Pen?

For me... having the S-Pen is one of those aspect that can't be measured. I just like having that option... if anything that latency 42ms to 9ms is pretty much the biggest upgrade, but that's just my opinion. Obviously the camera is going to get the most praise.
He is, but he uses Apple Pencil more. It’s just easier to use on a larger flatter surface. So not having an S Pen is not a deal breaker for choices among Samsung phones. And he doesn’t want to give up the 100x zoom, fuzzy as it is.

I don't think that's autofocus related. Imo that's due to the shutter lag on Samsung devices that has been there for a while.

totally agree.....I had the S20 Ultra and S20 + and both take great still shots! But if anything is moving then it results in blurry photos. Samsung needs to fix autofocus and shutter issues ASAP. My Note 10+ did not have as big a problem with moving objects last year.

I’m guessing this is why the note ultra has the auto focus laser. I think the issues on the s20 can’t truly be fixed with software.

agreed :) Samsung presentations are really bad. Great products just bad presentation of them.. But Apples are like a cheerleading squad of everything is the best and your gong to love it!

The problem was all in the writing and the delivery. Just so amateurish compared to presentations from other tech companies. Apple does a great job. They make you feel like your life will turn into a nightmarish horror if you don't buy their product then and there.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter. Samsung confirmed a bunch of stuff we already knew because of all the leaks. All anyone really needed from all that was confirmation of prices and dates. I don't buy Samsung products because of how good/bad their promo videos are. lol

You can’t honestly tell me you actually liked that event, it was cringe worthy from the moment it started until the second it ended.
Apple does play catch up to a lot of features that’s not deniable, however when implemented they are usually done right.

That Samsung event was terrible! Instead of making me want to buy Samsung devices like I hoped it would ( I was interested in the Note) it put me right off.
I’ll be waiting to see what Microsoft have to offer with the Surface Duo.

I dont see how you would be put on or off by the presentation we have already known exactly what it was.

I see it that the presentation is a way of trying to sell these devices to me. BUT it was when they said that the devices would be getting 3 generations of software support, that put me off big time. My iPhones can get more than that, my mum is using an iPhone SE (first gen) and still gets updates, hell my stepdad uses my very old iPhone 5S and still gets security updates (however he can't get the latest IOS software features).

Dave I usually buy based on the product not the colour of the store LOL I certainly would not buy an IPhone just because I don't like TC as an example.

I have a HP 200LX that still works and that's over 20 years old, so what ..........

I do not think any of us no of one instance where a phone has been compromised by lack of security update and the more recent flaw discovered dates back nearly 10 years and is a loop hole on both on IOS and Android

Well, to give Samsung credit, the only Android maker that does 3 years of software support is Google on their Pixel line. So the fact that Samsung is willing to match is a good thing imo. This is in contrast to the rest of Android world where 2 years is the best you can get, while you're lucky with 1 OS version upgrade on many.

I hope Samsung is more committed in that they do this not just for the flagships. The biggest seller of Samsung are still the mid-low Galaxy A phones. Claiming longer OS support on their smaller volume products feel like a cheap move.

I was making my mind up based on the products, which is what the keynote was about. As soon as they said 3 generations of software updates, i was put off. I do think there is some great hardware there dont get me wrong. The screen on the Note Ultra looks amazing and the s-pen is appealing to me, but the software is what puts me off.

Then stick with Apple even the MS Duo is going to be Android
