Wait wait wait, $999 for a plastic back phone?? WTF? I thought the rumors of plastic back was for a Note 20 Lite, just like Note 10 lite. But for the actual Note 20? Oh man, Samsung, come on.

I can't believe how bad this keynote is! Apple knocked it out the park with WWDC online. This Samsung Note 20 event is just embarrassing!!
I stopped watching. I figure I’ll just read the articles. I don’t see anything compelling me away from my S20, which is a damn fine phone and trading my Note 10+ for it got me a beautiful price on it and gave me the upgrades I wanted in a size I love.

Still, I was hoping the Note 20 Ultra would be knocking socks off so my husband could trade his S20 Ultra for it. But I can’t see why he would. He’s in business meetings so he hasn’t seen anything yet. But I would be surprised if he trades his S20 Ultra in.
I think my husband is more inclined to get the new iPhone 12 Pro Max. Maybe.

I’m more enthused about the Pixel 4a. Lol but I have a perfectly good Pixel 3XL so uh...why?

But reading articles and reviews and forum posts is all a huge part of the fun and free, so that’s what I will be doing.

I had thought a plastic back would make it more durable than glass, but from the scant few comments I’ve read from a couple of early previews, apparently it doesn’t. 😯

Never thought the day would come, several android flagships in a row that I haven't bought, been with my 11PMax since launch. Apple really got their hooks in me now.

Just saw the MKBHD video and apparently the display is still limited to 120Hz or QHD but not both. Thats a real bummer.

Looks like another great Note device, but honestly theres nothing there to entice me to leave my S20.

Is there anything on them supporting updates beyond 2-3 years with the Note 20? Thats really the only thing that holds me back from android phones. That and leaving the ecosystem of Apple.

They announced there will be a minimum of 3 years of updates with flagship phones going back to those purchased in 2018.

Nope disagree

Many skipped the S20's and others because of the SPen, your wishful thinking does not change the fact that the Notes has an Spen, there are no substitutes.

Trying to devalue a product to suit a perceived budget or "High" price is just nonsense.

if it seems a perceived lower value to you move on and choose another phone

If you want a Note with an Spen there are 2 to choose from same as the OP8 you suggested, which incidentally most recommend the lower spec one over the Pro but the reverse may be the case for the Notes.
I had zero interest in the S20. I buy the Notes because the SPen is the key defining feature. I am a heavy user of screen off memos in particular.

In short, I agree with your comments. No SPen (or equivalent) then it's not a competitive product.

I was actually take a back by how proud they seemed that they will now support 3 generations of software updates. iPhones get much more than that.

Isn’t that only security patches tho? Not system updates. Iirc that’s only 2 years

Yep, also is the screen similar to the one on the note 10 small last year? I had that phone and the screen wasn't too good, huge difference between the regular and the plus.

Nice. That’s much improved from the past and realistically much longer than most of us will ever own the phone.

(mind you most of us would only need a guaranteed period of 6 months! Lol)

Maybe 1 year until the next version is released and you trade in the previous version on the current one.

I was all up for the Note20 Ultra until I saw the same Exynos 990 chip as my current S20+ being used on the Exynos Note20 range whilst the Qualcomm chip range have been upgraded to 865+!?

That's poor show from Samsung!

Hopefully the upcoming S21 range will make it up for us poor Exynos region folk!

Well i think they have sweeted the deal for us though. We seem to have more standard storage than the SD region while it costing £1,179...i was expecting £1300 starting price.

He's not interested in the S-Pen?

For me... having the S-Pen is one of those aspect that can't be measured. I just like having that option... if anything that latency 42ms to 9ms is pretty much the biggest upgrade, but that's just my opinion. Obviously the camera is going to get the most praise.

I tried finding a video about the Buds Live and saw just a brief but before closing it out....it was like a toddler show.

That's because of Apple lag it takes them 5-6 years to catch up with the simplest of features Galaxy owners have had several years in advance

We saw that in the Apple event a yawn feast of IOS catch up updates so just as your IPhone is about to retire your 5th update will likely only be 3 years behind LOL

I love having a pen in a phone but I’m still underwhelmed by the Notes app. Especially with the latency improvement, this could really take off if the note app was better. I know they’ve improved it now but I’ll save my hurrahs for after I’ve tested it myself...

The worst thing for me though is the combo of S Pen with a curved screen. That’s just intentionally-stepping-on-a-rake level stupid design.
