Dave you live in the UK get a Note 20 on try and return at no risk as it will be some weeks more before you could do the same with a Duo, then we can stop all this speculation :)

Not a bad idea, but its not out here in the U.K until 21st of this month. Pre-orders are live and in fact I’ve just looked and with my discount it’s not a bad price for the Note 20 Ultra.

The price of the Duo hasn’t been announced yet. I wonder if they will do that on the 12th at the event. It will be interesting to see how they position and price it.

Back in 2010 Cnet penned an article titled "The iPhone is the worst phone in the world" regarding the issues with the 3G and and 3GS models. Specifically about the "craptastic" call quality, the lousy mic and the frequency of dropped calls saying..

"If, like Will Smith in Enemy of the State, you're trying to avoid the eagle eye of Big Brother, the iPhone could be for you. It drops calls, fails to connect and doesn't even ring sometimes."

But despite being burned by 2 consecutive models, people still buy iPhones in droves and rightfully so. Apple learned from past mistakes. Not to say they haven't made any since (antennagate, bendgate), but they have made some excellent phones since the 3G/3GS.

Similarly I don't think you can look at a 7 year old Samsung as any indicator of current models. One UI 2.1 is a pretty nice UI and Samsung has made some nice phones in recent years, albeit with their own issues (autofucusgate?) along the way.

There are a lot of tech in these new phones and mistakes are bound to be made, but we can't use 7-10 year old phones as a marker. I think in phone years that's like 70-100 years ago :)

I am with Flossy on the Bluetooth SPen. I use it way more than I ever thought I would when I purchased my first Note a year ago!

I have the XS Max and a spare Note 9 - which I usually play with the video, ProCamera...the side loaded GCam, some email, my main Music player since it has the storage w/ SD card to handle a ton of music... thats about it. Some of the software, bloatware for Samsung/Android...thats my personal downfall though. It can easily be deleted though..lot of settings in Dev Mode you can change..just a lot more freedom with Android

I admit...this new one is very tempting!! 120 refresh rate, the tiny pin hole front cam is a big plus. Plus Trade in this mint condition Note 9 - thats $550 off the 20Ultra Note. Stilla nice chunk of change...but hmm

Pro Video is back, camera...from what I can tell looks decent. Photos looks great, Not sure about that 50x zoom..right now from the above video. And LOL, I dont even know if my current iMac can even handle 8K videos in case I need to edit

Oh god you're not trying to go to Samsung again are you? With the new iPhone announcement right
round the corner too? We all know how this will end.

Yep lol

Think will just keep my 11 pro max with latest rumours of

No 120hz
Same notch
Nothing other than camera improvements
They may add 3x optical but still

The Apple 12 pro rumours seems very underwhelming

I can’t justify spending £1000-£1200 on a phone with 60hz screen and the same notch when the note has everything for £1,179. Well £35 a month on the Samsung upgrade program

I mean, no judgement from me man. I'm all about testing tech out and returning if it doesn't work for you :). God knows I do it enough (too much).

The iPhone rumours ALWAYS seem underwhelming to me but I still always buy it.
The possible design change to the flat sides is definitely going to ensure huge sales, as iPhone lovers love to have the newest design.

I had a Note 10 last year on launch and I have to say, I loved it. However the smaller Note 20 has no increased display resolution and I think that is a joke. Samsung were always good at keeping the specs between big and small devices very similar, but looks like they're doing the whole "gotta pay more and go bigger for better" now.

Which I'm not onboard with.

Understandable, the case is massive so I get that’s not for everybody but I love big phones. I love the software on iOS but the hardware is lagging behind for me and I’ve always loved the note line but not had one since the 5? Think what they have added is everything I need in a phone

I will still use my iPad Pro 12.9 and I’m sure will be my most used product still. Samsung seem to be developing their own ecosystem quite well so will give it another try.

I hope it works out for you man. I love Android. And I've grown to love Samsung's version too now they have changed it so much from the S8/9 days *shudder*.

It looks like a hell of a phone.

Let’s hope so lol I like to try new tech and the note seems the most tech packed into one device.

The hardest will be not using the apple watch but the more I think about it what apps do I use on it? Sport scores apps which the galaxy watch has so will see how it goes

Samsung have been doing things right for a while now.. I'm sure you won't regret you decision.

UI wise, I would say I prefer One UI over all skins even vanilla Android especially now with the 120hz refresh rate! If you get bored with the stock UI, the Samsung Theme Store is extensive! I personally have it all black and simple!

Nevertheless I'm tempted by the Note20 Ultra only issue for me is same old CPU as my S20+.. I may wait it out for the S21 series for a bigger upgrade although I miss my S Pen from the Note10.

Yeah the chip side is the only downside but really as long as my battery life remains good i don’t mind too much. Day to day usage i don’t see we will see a huge difference.

I imagine 2021 is when we will get the real powerful samsung chips. What i like about the S and note series you see what the S series has and now if you’re a note user you only need to wait 4-6 months and those same features plus more will come to the note line.

It'll be interesting to see if ProMotion happens with the 12 Pro. I'm kind of in the same boat. I'm wondering if 5G is going to be the big selling point this year. But yeah, I think the deciding factor for will be if ProMotion is there. I don't have to have 5G. I have service pretty much everywhere.

Good call holding off on the ordering the Note20. I already cancelled my order, lol. Like you I already know how the story will end. Haha

Pro motion has pretty much been confirmed from leakers as no pro motion. Nothing official til the event though

I’ve decided going forward no longer will I do anything else but sim only. Doing upgrade program is simply cheaper than going through normal contracts

Even a £20-£30 saving a month is worth it for me

I fully expect to keep the ultra so will see how the journey goes

Oh I totally read that wrong, lol. Good luck. Notes are great devices. I loved my Note 10+ last year, but STILL only kept it for one month before iOS called me back. So my best advice for you is to hold off on selling all of your Apple stuff. I sold mine and a month later bought it all over again. And then tried to dabble in Android again earlier this year. So just think long term before you sell all your stuff.

Yeah won’t be selling it for a while. My iPhone is on beta and I don’t know if I will be able to downgrade it anyway til the official update is out. I always sell my Apple watch each year anyway so I will sell that as a mate wants it for a decent price. Granted not close to what I bought it for though.

iPad Pro 12.9 is one device I won’t sell. Love this thing

I've definitely found the iPhone and MacBook a combo that's really tough to give up. I probably only use my MacBook 3-4 days per week, but when I do, it really comes in handy and I can put the phone down on the charger for a bit.

Yeah, thats my mindset. My iPad Pro 12.9 is too invaluable for me to lose. It does pretty much everything I need. And the Note complement it so well... granted its two different platforms. I just like the mulitasking aspect that's missing from the iPhone.

It’s going to be nice to stick using 120hz displays. I love how smooth it is. For some won’t care but for me I love the smoothness

I loved my Note 10+ last year, but STILL only kept it for one month before iOS called me back

Itunes, customisation and iphone5 were biggest deterrence for me to depart the apple island.
Instead having 2 Android phones i am thinking keeping an apple and Samsung phones this or next year.

Yeah, I purchased a dock even before Apple announced the Magic Keyboard. And although, the Magic Keyboard looks promising and I’m sure I would enjoy it just as much as you. But the versatility of this dock (it can be moved in various angles along with landscape/portrait) and the fact it’s a much more reasonable option in terms of price. I couldn’t just give it up in favor of the Magic Keyboard.

And the odd thing about my setup (dock, keyboard and mouse). I used to frown upon those who tried to use the iPad as a “laptop”... and now, that’s what I do majority of the time.
