Oh sorry I had no idea that was the case. Dang, that is pretty annoying. Glad I installed the beta on my old 7 Plus but I am planning to sell it so now I guess I have to go through that ordeal myself.

Yeah not ideal, it’s just a shame as had no previous issues like this before but with a beta you never know

Yeah now I understand your situation better. Hope they come out with a less buggy version soon. It's actually working pretty well on my 7 Plus and the battery doesn't seem to have got any worse, but it spontaneously restarts quite often so I'd be pulling my hair out if this was my daily driver.

I keep seeing reviewers saying the standard Note 20 has a 256gb variant, I'm not seeing that version available (only 128gb). Can anyone confirm where the 256gb version is sold? Thanks.

Danny winget shared this from his twitter page from 108mp camera. He says auto focus has been fixed.

I’m sure it looks even better in his own camera role as twitter and here don’t do it justice

Has anyone here gone to a store like Bestbuy and gotten some hands on yet?

I played with one, briefly, when I preordered.

Was the Copper with frosted back, was lovely.
The camera looked nice, felt like a Note.

I didn't muck around too much, I pre-ordered and got the kids a couple of tablets, the store was busy and I don't like being around a ton of people at the moment, covid and all.

One concern I have about the camera, is that every single Samsung launch there is hype around Samsung's cameras and we get picture after picture from tech reviewers showing amazing results and saying how it's the real deal. Yet when actual people get the phone, and when reviews actually hit, the camera is never the hyped up monster that they've made it.

No one ever remembers Samsung cameras a few months on. It's always iPhone, Huawei and Pixel that everything gets compared to as the industries best.

And that's my worry with this.
I had an email in work today (our employee perks) about the Note 20's and there's 10% off them from Samsung store. Which is pretty sweet. Especially considering the phone comes with the free gift AND 4 months of YT Premium which is so worth paying for anyway IMO.

And it's sooooo close too. I actually love a lot of the shots I get with Samsung phones. But during my whole dilemma on if I should switch or not, I was looking at my camera roll of things I've done this summer with the kids, and the pictures are just so amazing, all taken on the iPhone 11 Pro Max. The way faces and eyes pop is so hard to give up.

I personally think the Pixel camera is the best by a mile. For point and shoot and for the consistently good images you take it's hard to want to use anything else. But with the Pixel hardware being so total garbage it's easy to see why people go elsewhere.

It's not that I think Samsung's are bad cameras, they're definitely not. It's just I wouldn't buy a Samsung device for its camera.

You know it’s weird when the reviews came out with the S20 ultra side by side comparisons on YouTube the ultra seemed to kill the pro max in overall picture quality but over time the auto focus issues got all the attention which had an effect on people’s view and the iPhone got great reviews for the much improved camera.

Early hands on seem to suggest Samsung have toned down the pictures so they are more natural than previous Samsung devices

Guess we will see soon enough with the auto focus laser I hope this has fixed the issues. Going into this I wasn’t sure how much of a difference from s20 ultra the pictures would be but so far it looks like they are better. Some of the 108mp pictures I’ve seen have been very impressive

Pixel are great for stills and for photos for point at shoot for sure but it has too many issues in terms of being a complete camera. Video isn’t great there is no real zoom either. Where it shines is stills and portrait shots.

Do people buy smart phones for camera first though that’s the question. iPhone I would say is the most complete out of the two

Early reviews saying skin toning is improved and so are shots being more natural. Will put it to the test though next weekend with my pro max to see the difference

People always say this about Pixel though. "It's rubbish at video". Personally, I class video and photo camera as two very separate things. I have many many many more photos than I have videos on my phone as I'd rather capture a moment in a picture than a vid.

All that happens with video when uploaded to social media is it's compressed to hell and looks like it was taken on a phone from ten years ago.

And I think people very much do buy phones for a camera these days. We live in an age where people capture everything for memories and social media and people want a good camera to do that on.

That is my concern as well. I am 100% sure it can take some outstanding still shots and fantastic videos. But the S20 line ( I had the S20 Ultra and S20 Plus) suffered from blurry shots of anything that was moving. Not sure the laser focus will help the shutter speed to be honest.

No doubt cameras are important, certainly is a big thing on the list but I think it depends what else you want out of a phone. I think flagship cameras are so good these days most people don’t or can’t tell the difference between the top cameras.

The video where there was a blind test for photos from different phones said it all

I think it depends on your preference of photos. My pro max takes great pics of say people and pets but I do like other flagship photos for a lot of other photos like of buildings, plants, sea etc. The colours on the ultra blew my mind when I first saw the comparison videos.

Think of somebody wants a great camera for s good price the pixel would be the best option

But then all those camera comparisons were of still shots. Shots of moving objects like children or pets would have different results.
But 100% agree that today's smartphone cameras are up tot he task for still shots and videos

I can’t stand my s20ultra camera if you take a pic of a sky then sure it’s great or landscape. But how many of them do you take......

as mentioned above for people pets and moving shots it sucks. Let’s hope it’s fixed. I fell into Samsung’s marketing big time with that s20ultra lol 108 megapixel and all that bells n whistles. When it’s all useless.

I think its been that way for a few years. Great pictures of landscapes and outdoor scenes but really poor for taking pictures of Kids. I feel like I could have a lot of fun taking pictures of things outside but it’s my kids I take the most pictures of.

For the past several Samsung flagships, this has been the case. Samsung was once praised for having the fastest auto focus, and finally stopped saturating their photos. It seems Samsung started to struggle again with the S9, basically when multiple lens setups were introduced into their line up.

I think Samsung truly did fix the camera's auto focus issue, but I want to see videos taken with it. Samsung has pretty much always had an unnatural and micro jumpy(for lack of better words) result with any videos 4K and up, especially at 60fps.

All Note 20 here are 256GB in Malaysia
Yeah, 256GB not available in the USA. Apparently a trade off for not getting the Exynos processor?

It may have been an error on Samsung's part. I think they figured people would be fine with the 128GB and not many would order the 512GB, so only made it available in Mystic Black. But I have heard some stories of the 512GB version being sold out and back ordered.
