Why ? when I had a touch fault with my front screen I called Samsung 24 hour support line near midnight, they came the next day, picked up my phone gave me a lone phone and returned my repaired phone back the next day, try that with Apple LOL
Wow that’s good. Is that with the Samsung equivalent of AppleCare+ or standard warranty?
Issue for me is I have an Apple store 15 mins away and another 2 1hr away so can drop in for any issues. They usually, in my experience, can sort a replacement or repair that same day. Samsung don’t really have the same shop level service nearby.

Ubreakifix is the official Samsung partner for anything that can be repaired in a day. If it is something that can't be or you don't want to take it there you can opt to pay the $99 or whatever it is for a replacement phone. I did that at the beginning of the lockdown stuff because all the Ubreakifix stores where on limited hours at time (Apple Stores completely closed except for repair dropoff by appointment). I called Samsung about 4PM that day, told them I had a broken screen. They gave me the option of paying I think a $29 special they were running for screen replacement or $99 for phone replacement. I chose the $99 and had a replacement phone delivered around 10AM the next morning.

Either way, it's always best to have a workable backup phone handy. I transferred my SIM back to my iPhone X for the night. No big deal. You can buy a workable backup phone that will hold you a night or two cheap.

I’m in the UK, I’m not aware of that service for Samsung here. Maybe someone else from here can chime in if they know

They used to have a flagship store in Westfield Stratford. You could make an appointment like the genus bar or you could have a walk in appointment you just had to queue up. They would try and fix the problem there and then but if they couldn't they would send it away. If it was a smashed screen you could pay for an express service and have it fixed within a few hours. My husband had an issue with the charging port on his S3. We went and were seen within about 20 minutes. They sent it away to be fixed. He was advised that it would take 72 hours but they called him the next day to say it had been fixed and was ready for collection.

I'm not sure if any of the Samsung stores in the UK offer that kind of service anymore.

What drives me mad about app libary is having to go to the end to get the library up least on android you swipe up and it’s there.

i swear my iPhone knows I have pre ordered the note 20 ultra as being on iOS 14 beta the latest update has been killed my phone where it has become a laggy mess, app crashes and poor battery life. All the widgets I used just have a black screen on them...all the news widgets I have I can’t use at all.

when I go to take a picture it’s just a black screen. The sooner 21st arrives the better.
Interesting to see you venturing back over to the darkside after your last experience with a Samsung flagship. Hopefully you have a better experience this time.

Interesting run down. I’m interested how they switch between note and tab S7 plus for example. I wouldn’t expect them to do so with apple devices which is why I think anybody on android go stick to android made buds.

ANC certainly don’t seem to be that great and air pods pro will be my go to for that bit surprised on sound as many reviews have said the sound is better than air pods pro

Mine are suppose to arrive with the phone on 21st so will see

Just saw the comparison post on the MR Front Page...I swear I didn’t see an advance copy or write it myself. ? An excerpt that sounded somewhat familiar,

When it comes to sound quality, the Galaxy Buds Live sound decent (and better than the AirPods), but the ‌AirPods Pro‌ win out with more balance and clarity. The Galaxy Buds Live have more noticeable bass, but it can cause songs to sound a bit muddy. Sound can be adjusted with equalizer settings available in the Galaxy Buds app, but we didn't see much of an improvement tinkering with these settings.

One of the main selling points of the Galaxy Buds Live is Active Noise Cancellation, a feature also offered in the ‌AirPods Pro‌, but the Galaxy Buds Live ANC functionality was mediocre, at least with our unit.

It's hard to tell when ANC is enabled or disabled on the Galaxy Buds Live because the feature just doesn't seem to be blocking out much ambient noise. There's no comparison to the ‌AirPods Pro‌, which offer much better Active Noise Cancellation. It's better than no ANC at all, but it's so subtle that it can't compare to competing products.

Their experience seemed to mimic mine. I’m curious to hear your take on them after testing them out amongst a set of Samsung devices.

It appears from what I can find on Samsung's UK page, that they send a mobile repair to you.

"Samsung Doorstep Repair is operated by Revive A Phone Limited, trading as WeFix, with Samsung qualified engineers using genuine parts only."

That's good enough for me!
I'm not judging the battery either way. But these tests are pretty lame. Phones don't get used like this, much like the pointless speed tests.

I did notice from the 2 seconds I watched that it was being used at 60hz. Won't people be wanting to use at 120hz, seing as loads of people tout is as being the best thing since sliced bread?

120hz is the new QHD!

The vast majority of consumers who buy Samsung flagships don't even change the resolution from the default setting of Full HD+, the same will apply for 120hz imo.

2 guys at work have S20's and when I asked what they thought of the the new refresh rate i got the: I don't know what you're on about look!

Hardly conclusive evidence but an indication none the less.

It has already effectively stopped. The growth in average phone size has slowed a lot over the last 1-2 years, because the practical limit for most people seems to already have been reached. And Apple are in fact set to release their smallest phone in many years, with other OEMs sure to follow suit. So you probably don’t need to worry.

The good thing is that we now have choice. The days of “lulz, like I’m going to hold a tablet to my ear” are over - there’s a size to fit everyone.

Yeah, I think the OEMs are now hovering around 6.5", plus/minus .1".
Xiaomi used to have a Mi Max line with the screen at almost 7" on the Mi Max 3. They discontinued the lineup after that.

Yes and yes but regardless, I can see the battery life will be fine for my usage.
Battery life was my main concern, this will exceed my requirements, hence I'm happy.

Regarding the pointless speed tests, I dont see them as pointless.
For me, they show that marketing about socs is a bit overblown and usage in real life isn't as dramatically different as some people suggest.
The A13 is supposed to a behemoth compared to lowly android socs but it really isn't that much different in normal everyday usage.

Except speed tests aren't anything like a true representation of everyday use.

Yeah okay, what is then?
What metric would you use, buying all phones and using them all?
That would get rather expensive quickly.
A waste of time. Nobody uses their phone the way these speed tests are done. Not a matter of opinion, just a simple fact.

Waiting for a more comprehensive comparison between Exynos and Snapdragon versions.

Early reports suggest exynos battery life isn’t great. This was my only concern pre ordering which is the battery life and exynos being worse than SD

Come 2021 this won’t be an issue as exynos 1000 is said to rival apple’s chip and will be better than the next snapdragon chip
