I’m sorry but even as an Apple user (and iPhone 11 Pro Max) I can’t defend Apple. They are using a design from the iPhone 5 (which is ridiculous when it’s time to move forward not backwards) not only that but they have removed the charging brick and earbuds.
during pre-orders Samsung were giving away there Buds Live, while Apple are removing earbuds. It’s penny pinching at the highest level, even as an Apple user I can’t defend it.
Won't disagree with the penny pinching--if Apple was genuine in their explanation, they would have passed some of the cost savings onto the customer. But I'm whole heartedly behind the environmental impacts of removing them from the box.
Most people don't use either the plug or earbuds and it generates a huge amount of e-waste. At this point, it's unnecessary to include them. If someone genuinely needs a plug or earbuds because it's their first iPhone, they can buy the best option for them--doesn't have to be Apple's versions and if they're smart, they won't be as there are terrific, more efficient and less expensive options available. But Apple is absolutely saving a bunch of money with these measures and should be passing at least some of it onto consumers.
The design aspect is purely subjective. They adopted the same design style for the iPad Pro models a couple of years ago and it's a huge improvement over the curved edge style, IMO. I'm a big fan of it and am super happy it's coming to the new iPhones. And thinner bezels is also a wasted change--more inadvertent touches, especially on stupid curved displays. The 'bezel' arguement was valid when phones still had big foreheads and chins but bitching about an extra mm around the edge seems pretty trivial.
