she can't text you on your Fold?

She texts me on WhatsApp and only dislikes the normal messaging is when she sends me photos of things it costs her and she did it by mistake a few times which was annoying having to text me on just WhatsApp so she just used WhatsApp instead which is better to be honest.

sadly exynos issues are well known...it’s great some here have had no issues but from my experience that Isn’t the norm. There’s a reason this chip set gets so much hate on forums and twitter alike.

Think this is no more widespread than Iphone 11 with With Intel Modems rather than Qualcomm, some get issues others don't, its all YMMV :)

I'm one that had no issues with my Note 20 Ultra Exynos version, I don't game on my phone which is the biggest problem with the Exynos 990, even at work where i have a crap signal all day battery get me though the day with over 50% left sometimes.

If i had both the Snapdragon & Exynos side by side using them as i would normally without benchmarking it, I'll be hard pressed to tell the difference other than probably battery life, which again is no biggy for me as i can easily get a day+ out of my Note 20 Ultra when at home with a good signal, as I'm not glued to my phone as some folk are.

I'm not defending Samsung in anyway I think it's crap what they done more so that both the Fold 2 & the S20 fe international versions both come with the Snapdragon 865 & Plus respectively, yet the international Note 20 Ultra wasn't given the same treatment considering this phone is very expensive.

It seems like Samsung doesn't really care anymore about the Note series instead putting all of their effort into the Fold instead, & once they find a way to get the S pen to work without destroying the screen, it's goodbye to the Note's.

Don't know if this a UK only thing but iMessage isn't a really a big thing here most people use Whatsapp be it Android or Apple.
I live in Austria, but I am originally from Poland and also lived in Italy and Germany, so got some overview of European customs in this respect and I have to say that literally no one uses iMessage, it is all WhatsApp or Messenger in my experience.

Samsung customer service are a nightmare to deal with  The Note 20 Ultra and Buds Live have now gone back, however I just received this email

UPDATE: After a while on the phone, Samsung admitted they have received the Note 20 Ultra and the Buds Live back. They are initiating the refund.

Talking with Samsung was like pulling teeth (I kept getting put on hold, then passed to another person, then I was passed to a different department and then back again. In the end I asked to speak to as high a manager as I could get) finally I got somewhere. It certainly makes me appreciate Apples customer service a lot more!

Interesting news: https://www.gsmarena.com/there_will_be_no_galaxy_note_in_2021_more_rumors_suggest-news-46291.php

Guess I jumped on the Note train very last minute... Not really sure if the Fold will really replace the Note considering its form factor and price, but it makes lots of sense to simply add the S Pen support to the S21 Ultra considering how similar S20U and Note20U already were...

On a separate note, is there a functionality in the Note which automatically mutes notifications when the phone is laying on a surface with the screen facing down (it is the thing on the iPhones)?

My issue is the fold 3 with s pen will likely mean a price increase And it’s costly enough.

We were talking about this last year. It was very much predicted but some members dismissed it.
The merge of S and Note series is enviable due to high production cost and cycle. Both S & Note series share alomost same specs so why bother wasting advertising and other costs every 6 months. Good move Samsung.

Yup! If they raise the price from 2k... that's not going to attract any new customers. Regardless of how many trade incentives they give.

I have my fold 2 on contract so if it’s more i will be keeping my fold 2 and not upgrading. Can’t justify paying more than what i do now.

Yeah I’m also not cool with this direction, but at least it will help keep things more simple for me as I’m just going to stay on iOS moving forward.

The Note has always been my 2nd favorite smartphone behind the iPhone and has many times almost pulled me away from Apple completely.

Definitely don’t want the S-Series with an S-Pen case. I just can’t see that turning out well and I am definitely not dishing out 2k plus for a Fold.

Yeah, I was explaining this to a user in the Samsung Members app... he was displeased by the move. And I'm telling them it makes sense when Samsung is pushing out too many series of phones... they need to consolidate. And what better way to do it now with the S & Note series.

And I have a feeling the numbers they are getting from sales with the Fold2... is definitely driving that decision.

Well, regardless of the improvements they make with the Fold3... I'm sitting on the sideline. I'll be glad to see new users though.. help them along the experience. But raising the price won't bring Samsung new users.

I kind of wish they can somehow bring the price tag to $1799. But I don't know... first generation was over $1980.

I have mixed feelings about axing the note in favor of S Ultra, especially when I read this: In addition, the new leak confirms the Ultra will support Samsung’s S Pen stylus but it won’t be bundled with the device itself and there won’t be an opening to store it like on the Note series. Samsung will sell separate cases that come with an S Pen holster. (https://www.gsmarena.com/substantial_galaxy_s21_series_leak_reveals_all__key_specs-news-46293.php). If this turns out to be true, then it will be a significant hit to the whole idea of S-Pen compatibility. To me, the Fold cannot be really treated as a direct replacement due to its size, form factor and price (and we also do not know if there will be slot for the S-Pen, or rather something like the Tab S has). In general, I agree with you, though, that limiting the number of available smartphone lines makes sense.

I was just going to post the same thing.... merging production costs makes a whole lot of sense and provides more functionality for the S line with S-Pen support. But I really do not see Samsung eliminating the Note line.

I think it’s more of a temporary solution until they come back to the design next year. As said before... I believe that Fold2 gave them an indication to go ahead with moving the S-Pen to the S-Series. If the Fold didn’t sell that well I think they woulda kept the same lineup. And they increased the price within COVID.
