well, I decided to give my S10 a little more time to get used to.

I guess it would be too early after 2 days of usage.
Installed BxActions to remap the Bixby button.

Also, again...I have read some nice tips and trics the last 24 hours in this topic. Thanks guys! :)

No AptX HD may be a deal breaker for me. Especially since setting LDAC to 990kbps / "optimized for audio quality" causes significant stutter and choppiness. I have Sony LDAC headphones and the Sony app automatically sets the bluetooth output to LDAC best audio quality in developer settings (which is what I want). If I reduce to the middle ground, LDAC 660kbps, locally stored music and streaming are fine. But I need to adjust EVERY time I use headphones. My Pixel 3 works at the highest LDAC quality setting no problem. And has AptX HD...

No idea why (on the S9 as well) Samsung doesn't have AptX HD and just AptX. For a $1000 flagship, I have a major issue with this.
I don't know anything about what you are talking about but you can go in the sound settings and make it sound best to you by going thru the listen and set optomize option.

At least you are giving it a try, Android is not for everybody. I think i appreciate the s10 more as phones like the S7 were a laggy mess in comparison.

Yeah I'd say you need every bit of the two weeks they allow for return. Especially coming from iOS. They are very different and don't know why many are so quick to return things.

One think the iPhone does that I like, it announces calls. Also set to always on, so no need to unlock except in the morning. FaceID - just looking at phone works.

Between trade in and deals, I try to avoid full price. 30 months/$30 per month through my carrier, they know customers can’t always afford latest phone price. BOGO sounds excellent!

Apple Certified Refurbished is my #1 choice and iPhone X is $769 - light, near same wt. as an 8 but should last and supported.

Not talking about sound quality. I'm talking about bluetooth audio codecs.

Sony Bluetooth headphones support higher bitrate audio. It works fine on mine so not sure what issue they are having.

Just to confirm, you are able to play audio using LDAC codec at 990kbps just fine? On mine (S10+) all audio is very choppy and the setting is just broken. If I switch to a lower bitrate, like 660kbps, it is fine.

I don't know. I don't know what LDAC is. I just know it sounds good to me and don't have issues.

Ok I just tested it, it defaults to adaptive bitrate which works perfectly but if I force it to 990kbps it becomes choppy :(

I'm so used to gestures coming from iPhone so I use them on my S10 plus and it works great and use Google assistant as my bixby button

I am trying to make the S10e work myself. I love the screen, the software performance. Not having Siri is a huge welcomed change. I just don't see how I can get around my preference for FaceID.

Thank you for checking. This is a bummer. It could be something wonky in Samsung's software. The worst case scenario would be a shoddy bluetooth antenna, which wouldn't necessarily surprise me. When I likely return to Verizon I'm not even going to try and explain because they are all morons. I'll tell them just take my $50 restocking fee and take the loss. Really too bad, great phone otherwise.

The Bluetooth antenna seems fine I get amazing range on my beats x headphones. I think it's a software issue that can probably be fixed in an update but Samsung would need multiple reports of the issue for it to become a priority unfortunately. It's not a deal breaker for me by any means but I understand if it is for others. Honestly if you didn't point it out I would never have known there was an option to force it to 990kbps.

I've been guilty of that in the past. An hour with an s8+ and decided Samsung and Android weren't for me!

Let me help you with that. I have sony wh-1000xm3 paired with the best audio smartphone, obviously lg g7. I also had some issues, with ldac disconnecting once every 3 minutes. For me the repair was selecting hingh quality in headphones app and also in bluetooth settings. Check attached photos.
L. E. It may be the s10 software as well just wait for an update.

Thanks for the input. Using the same headphones as you. I already have the setting set to "high quality" in the Sony app and have LDAC selected within the headphone bluetooth settings in the phone's OS. Also LDAC best audio quality is selected in developer options. The connection doesn't drop, it's just always very choppy.

Hopefully it is just Samsung software. I'm fine honestly with a "middle ground" 660kbps LDAC setting, but I need to adjust it every time I connect the headphones, because it'll default to the best audio quality option. And lead to problems every time until I adjust it back to a lower bit rate.

Has anyone noticed the pink hue has gone following the removal of the factory fitted screen protector?

As soon as my S10+ arrived, I noticed it had a pink hue depending on the position, I went in store today and the display models didn't have this but they also didn't have the screen protector fitted. Thus, I am wondering whether this is the screen or the screen protector.

I actually like the fit of the screen protector and don't normally use them, thus, I don't want to remove it and find the pink hue is still there.

Thanks.

Does not help. Tried it with my original. Display models at Best Buy near me have the pink hue off angle as well. Mine has it and then quickly turns bluish. It's the same OLED variance as iPhones.

The display model held side by side didn't have it. So that means there are screens that do have it and screens that don't.

Pink hue... Hmmm, just enable night view/blue light filters or something like that and move the slide left or right until it disappears.
[doublepost=1552332429][/doublepost]Indeed so many iphone switchers in this thread. Seems like in the US s10 is making big waves.

Does anyone know if it's possible to make the notification icons on the AOD to appear white? My icons are dark colored and hard to see.
Thanks!

Thanks.

I have a feeling mom will complain about how heavy the 8+ is, I told her to hold it for awhile and I do not think she was really concentrating on that.

She’s elderly and Touch ID is a no, forget about Face ID. She doesn’t text and I think FaceTime might be an issue too.

I may look at the s10es for us since Verizon is doing a BOGO right now (and I cannot decide which iPhone to get).

I do not want to pay $1000 for another phone when I barely use the bells and whistles, so the easiest phone for us would be best.

I’ll look into the gestures and kick it around. Mom won’t be doing anything but making calls right now, but her patience is non existent with tech, so I cannot be returning phones unless they’re not working correctly.

If anyone has additional suggestions, 1) Thank you and 2) I am all ears on this. I liked the s10e myself. I do not know the gestures and buttons and all that, but I have a feeling I’ll be testing at Best Buy and Verizon all this week to get a feel if I just want to go with the BOGO at Verizon.

Thanks for suggesting the s10s.
Pick the s10e's with your BOGO and simply put the one for your mum in to easy mode that strips away all the complications and a simple pattern or pin or swipe to unlock
