So it's been a full week and I love the S10e. The size is perfect, the flat display is worlds better than the curved edge I had on my S9, and performance has been great.

This is the most polished android phone I have ever used. I'm a big fan of my iPhone XS, and this feels like my XS. There are times when I forget I'm using the Samsung and think I'm using my iphone. The feel in hand and the feel of the performance is that polished.

The hole punch is nicer than the larger notch of the iPhone, but I'm still not a fan of the thicker than normal notification bar that is still needed to compensate. I actually would've preferred Samsung used the Infiniti v display instead.

The fingerprint reader on the side though has been a bust for me. It works really well and is very fast, however I don't like the position. It's a bit too high up to use comfortably with my right hand, and with my left its awkward wrapping my index finger around to reach it. I also miss the swipe down gesture, yes i know it's still there, but it is so much easier to accidentally activate when holding the phone in landscape, I had to disable it. Wish they had stuck with the rear fingerprint reader. Facial recognition is fast, though it's not that secure. My son actually fooled it once, guess his face is close enough to mine. FaceID is the gold standard, and this falls short, but the convenience is worth it to me. If security is very important to you, I would recommend to avoid it.

Battery life has been very good, gets me through the day with about 6hrs screen time. I have not had to worry about it. Screen is beautiful, sharp with wide viewing angles and very accurate colors. Tiny gripe, I wish they had gotten the bottom bezel to match the top. Not a big deal, but I do wish it was symmetrical.

Those are really my only gripes, everything else has been excellent. It really feels like my iPhone XS, but with added features, such as DEX, microsd, headphone jack, wide angle lens, reverse wireless charging, a true file manager, emulator support, live wallpapers, more customizations, multi-window, picture in picture, and usb-c. All for $250 less than my iPhone.

I've always maintained over the years that even though Android and Samsung have come a long way, if I was only allowed one phone, it would be an iPhone. And the iPhone XS has until now been my favorite phone ever. However, the S10e is right there. It's a toss up on which phone I would pick, with the only advantage of the apple ecosystem (iMessage, facetime, icloud, faceid, and iTunes) in apple's corner.

Now please Samsung, make a Note 10e.

Here is the last report I'll do on my battery life, as its constantly getting around 6hrs screen time, I even got close to 8hrs one day!

I haven’t ran a full battery yet, but I expect I can probably get about 5 hrs SOT on a full charge on Wi-Fi, but that’s with GPS on all day.

I might be able to sneak in 4-5 hrs SOT for LTE/WiFi mixed.

I am really going to miss this software if I return my S10e. Perfect little device minus the biometrics. Rocking pin only would be hard.

To be honest...you can't turn anything off on your Xr....you can't even turn off bluetooth...Apple will just turn it back on again for you. Then you can't turn off AOD...because the Xr doesn't have AOD as it has an LCD display. You need OLED for AOD and the Xr is kinda paired down feature set wise.
Little correction, you can turn off Bluetooth in IOS you need to go through settings to turn it off.

By that logic, options are wasted all the time, because they are what they are...options.
There is no logic. He's not even trying to have a logical reasonable discussion with us. He's just grasping at straws to crown Xr the winner when the rest of us aren't even holding a contest.

I own the Xr. I value it highly, especially as it is the only model of iPhone with stereo audio recording capability that I can still use. A lot of us here also own or have recently owned and enjoyed iPhones. Singing the praises of any iPhone is basically preaching to the choir. We just also happen to appreciate Android phones, and in this thread specifically, the S10 series. Otherwise we'd be having this discussion over on an Android-only forum like the one on Android Central.

It's so crazy when somebody comes here with the "iPhone rules, Samsung drools" attitude because it forces those of us who also like iPhones to have to point out the shortcomings of iPhones in order to balance out the discussion. But at this point, when someone grasps at straws as obviously as is going on here, it's no longer a discussion, it's harrassment.

Very good point GM, and I am surprised we don't see it more to be honest, but it happens both ways. On Android Central one of the fanboys finally had a bad day with his S10+ fingerprint sensor, was kind of poetic justice. I use both, I like both, but I am clearly in the minority. I avoid the front page because we all know how that goes. I'm just a phone addict, on both sides.

A lot will be down to apps using battery in the background. It’s way to see which apps are using the battery and have them put to sleep when not in use. Like mail searching in the background etc. I only use 4G (Three) from 7.30am to 5.30pm weekdays and seems fine.
Worth using the sleeping apps feature then?

Spot on, it’s easy to see his terrible posts and point out the major flaws with the iphone in comparsion which makes us look like haters and bagging on the iphone even though it’s a very good phone but just has some detailed shortcomings

I’m surprised the mods have not removed him yet given it doesn’t take long for people who name call to get suspended or banned. Baiting I think is worse as they come to post for no reason but to get a reaction out of people.

When I see apps (Sky news & outlook are 2 examples I noticed yesterday) have been running in the background for a lot longer than I've actually had them on screen, I'll add them to the optimising feature and restrict their use.

I noticed a couple of hours ago that the Blue and Flamingo Pink are no longer selectable for the s10+ for AT&T. I guess it's a good thing I've kept my preorder alive while I sort out in my mind which model/size I want. Were they just limited edition colors or is Samsung backordered that badly?

You just go through your apps and see what might be using stuff? Luckily unlike my iphone I have only downloaded apps I might use so I don’t have unused apps stuck on my phone.

No. This is under the device care battery usage section of apps I’ve used since charging. But if I open sky news to read for say 5 mins and the close it (not force close), it can be using battery in the background. Same with outlook. I get tons of emails on various accounts, I don’t need it searching for emails all day and giving me notifications every few mins. So it just checks when I open it and won’t run in the background.

Cheers will look into it. Very new what to look at to save battery but will get there.

Can’t think where that option is off the top of my head. Have you long pressed the app and selected the app info options?

Yeah nothing comes up

Battery life already better today. Took phone off charge at 6am and at nearly 09:00am and it’s still at 90%. Think AOD might have played a big factor. It’s more on data where it seems to drain while at home on wifi it lasts a lot longer.

Found where it is. Device care, battery and then scroll down to the app (if you've used it since charging). So don't click on battery usage to locate it.

While I've been tempted to get the China SD version, I'm happy with how this is running. So probably best not to tempt fate. Just hope an apk for the Gcam is released for Exynos.

battery stats wise you have auto brightness on and adaptive battery on?
I have adaptive brightness on, adaptive power saving off. Screen is HD+ but I thought it was on FHD+, so I’ll be changing that. AOD is off as I’ve never seen the point for me personally. Changing from HD+ to WQHD+ says I’ll get 45 mins less on the battery.

FHD from sounds won't use much more than QHD

My set to QHD and likely will keep it at that

I hope you get your flamingo pink one. I so appreciate how thorough and open folks are in this sub forum in how they enjoy and use their Android phones. It helps me determine if this is a phone I’d consider and I’ve learned a lot.

Thank you for your detailed posts.
