Yeah not great I get full signal at work so not sure why but battery life was similar on my max

Exynos 9820
I've been all over the internet trying to pick up some battery life impressions of the different models. A lot of people are saying all the Exynos variants are getting poor battery life. I find that strange as I thought Exynos was the better processor. In the US we used to despair that we didn't get Exynos.

I tried the in display FP sensor and it's pretty good for a first gen offering. I think I really want to get the S10, it's just a matter of time.

Well I canceled my pre order for the S10. The extra cost of the 512 gb model was weighing down on me. That alone had brought the cost well over $600 even with my S9+ trade in. I know I won't get it back when it comes time to trade in the S10.

If I go with 128GB on the S10, with my S9+ trade in I get the bill to $350. Not counting the cost of the case.

My original preorder for the S10+ with case AND earbuds is still the best deal at around $490 or so. I don't remember the exact amount but it was under $500.

I wish there were a 256GB option for the S10 and S10+. But with an SD card option I suppose I'm being silly. My husband has been teasing me mercilessly. Which is fine, we do that to each other. He tends to assemble furniture upside down or backwards and then it's my turn to tease him. :D

I get the feeling @nviz22 and I could afford to get what we want without too much discomfort if we get indulgent, but we both are always looking for the best deal.

For me, I'm feeling if I'm giving up this fabulous S9+, I want to get the best return in exchange for it that I can.

The best value is my S10+ pre-order. I just need to figure out why I perceive it as huge when it's the same size and actually feels lighter than this Pixel 3XL I drag everywhere with me and even carry in the front pocket of my mom jeans without batting an eyelash. It's just so very screen!

Maybe I need to tape in a temporary gigantic notch until I get used to all that display. :p;)

It's not been poor in my experience but this time round the Snapdragon is getting better battery results than the Exynos. The SD having a 7nm chip vs 8nm has something to do with it.

Yep, I am so anxious to move over to the S10, but the prices are too high right now. I missed out on the free Galaxy Buds that would've at least ate a little for the extra cost.

I am going to wait for about May or June for that trade in any phone for $200 off promo and see if Samsung slashes the prices off an additional $100. $599 for the S10 is easier to swallow since I can sell my XS Max for about $750 at the time and make the switch over.

I wonder if anyone here doesn't use the S10e FP sensor and just sticks to facial detection or the pin code? I don't think it's worth holding onto the S10e just to have a pin code for Samsung Pay or use facial detection for convenience.

Turning AOD off on any Android phone I've owned that has it always improved my battery life.
I might have to do that to my Pixel 3XL on some days. I do value the convenience of it too much to have it off all the time. But maybe during a road trip I should turn it off.

Might give it a try tomorrow then and see if it makes much difference
A lot will be down to apps using battery in the background. It’s way to see which apps are using the battery and have them put to sleep when not in use. Like mail searching in the background etc. I only use 4G (Three) from 7.30am to 5.30pm weekdays and seems fine.

My husband used Sephora filters when playing around with the camera. What has been seen cannot be unseen. I guess the Sephora partnership is still a thing, then. o_O

Oh well I've got a 20% off coupon for their cosmetics if he wants some mascara! :D

You must lead an incredibly sad life if you have time to keep leaving comments in a thread about a phone you have no interest in whatsoever. I came here to talk about the S10, not hear from a fanboy talking about his precious XR.

At least I won't have to read your drivel anymore, I'm hitting that ignore button.

I was thinking about this on my drive from London to Manchester today. He's right in a way, the reason why iPhone gets good performance and battery life is because Apple control every possible outcome on the device. What can be done and what can't be done. Theres a reason why on their OLED flagships there's no form of AOD. It's because they know their batteries are smaller and would drain like hell. If Apple allowed just 50% of what's possible on an S10 then iPhone would end up with a couple of hours worth of battery, end of.

I have an XS Max but recently switched to the black ceramic and I love it. I did ponder switching back but the increased functionality and customisation is too good to overlook.

It's the fact that he doesn't have a proper opened minded conversation. He just comes in to have a dig and ***** off again. I quoted him once saying my S10+ is an easy 2 day phone with moderate use after him stating a 'Samsung phone could never do that'. He wasn't interested because it was a positive thing for Samsung/Android. All he cares about is trying to prove to his choice is the best. Haven't got time for childish ***** like that. lol

Speaking as a user and fan of the Xr, there is nothing to turn off on the Xr! We get what we are given.

And nobody has to turn off anything all the time on an Android phone. I simply said when I go on a road trip I’ll give a go at turning off AOD on my Pixel to save that capacity for road time. Don’t need AOD sitting in the car for 8 hours.

And the Xr gets the battery life it does for some people because hello, low res display. I am fine with that, but let’s not pretend there aren’t a boatload of tradeoffs that Apple makes to make sure customers don’t have anything to complain about.

It’s really a very simplified, almost dumbed down environment to operate in, but that has the benefit of meeting the needs of the lowest common denominator (in terms of tech savvy and needs) gracefully. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Steve Jobs wanted the devices to be so simple they get out of the way and anyone can use them.

Android goes a different way. There are choices. But with greater choices comes the complexity of figuring out how to optimize your experience. The benefit is that when your circumstances change, like going on a sudden trip, you can change a few settings and optimize for that experience. With iOS you’re kind of left with what you’re given.

Also, I actually happen to get terrible battery performance from my Xr. It’s a wonderful phone, but drains as fast as my Pixel 3XL does. It likely is down to the intel modem having to work harder out here in an agricultural zone. So I’m just not feeling your smugness on that point.

With all that said, my husband has AOD left on and isn’t doing anything in particular to conserve battery on his AT&T s10+ and he’s got amazing battery life. It’s not quite as good as his P20 Pro but it’s close enough for his happiness.

Random question looking at your screenshot, but is moving the status bar clock over to the right an option with One UI, or did you have to do something special?

It's an option within Good Lock which I think is a Samsung app? But could be wrong. Someone with more knowledge on it would be able to confirm. :)

Yep.. Good lock and then the Quickstar app within

To each their own. I have mine off all the time as I don't need it on for what I do. It's not to save battery, it's just a feature I dont use.

I also don't use the fingerprint or face recognition feature. I mean there are times I'll turn it on but for the most part I don't use it and I just have certain apps that have any card or bank info use it, but not to unlock my lockscreen.
Battery life for me isn't an issue. On a typical day my battery lasts all day til I go to bed and charge it over night so no issue at all.

I'm still on the S9

I turn it off because A) folks are nosy and B) I don't need to constantly see my clock. Battery savings is just a positive side effect, which is what the point of discussion was earlier. That person waited on their moment to pounce in with an ignorant comment and found it.

Any place but here or there....
Mom wanted an iPhone, so Verizon had a device payment plan sale on the 6s+. She loves the look and feel of her first smartphone.

Me, I looked longingly at the Samsung s10e while at the Verizon store picking up mom’s phone. If I ever go back to Android though, I will pick up on sale at Best Buy (No trade ins, device payment plans again. This experience with Verizon hasn’t been pleasant).

I hope everyone is enjoying their s10 phones or whatever phone they decided upon. I hope Apple follows Samsung’s suit and gets rid of the notch. I just cannot roll with that and the high prices/build quality (Cannot roll with Samsung’s prices either, but those go on sale so...)

@GrumpyMom glad to hear GrumpyHubby is doing well with his s10+. Sorry your Xr is still...:(

To be honest...you can't turn anything off on your Xr....you can't even turn off bluetooth...Apple will just turn it back on again for you. Then you can't turn off AOD...because the Xr doesn't have AOD as it has an LCD display. You need OLED for AOD and the Xr is kinda paired down feature set wise.

Remember the LG G series had an AOD with LCD. It’s counterintuitive to keep an entire backlight on.
