I picked up my XR last night and noted two things A) the bezels are HUGE compared to the S10 and B) it felt like I was holding a slab of concrete it was so heavy.

My XS Max felt the same way with the weight. I am selling it later this week.

I do appreciate that.

I'm now on 22% with 2.56 SOT and it's only 4:26.
Download accbattery. Give it 24 hours and let me know what it says for time in deep sleep. If it’s not at least 85%, you have something going on. It also breaks down how much % each app uses, and how much battery you lose with the screen on and off. AMAZING app that is the first thing I put on every android phone I buy. Any questions ask me.

It looks like this. Mine has no info cause it was just on the charger.

Thanks for all your battery help and tips everyone. I went ahead and restored and immediately noticed the difference. I was able to restore everything from 18% and used about 12% of battery to manually restore all my apps(inc updates), settings, photos and music.

But doesn't it use battery? GSam is suppose to be good or used to be

You shouldn’t need to restore a brand new phone so soon. Samsung makes some great phones, but this has been an issue for YEARS.

Very little. Gsam is solid, but accubattery provides way more info. It will even give you a health estimation for your overall battery health.

This has been discussed to death but to me it boils down to simplicity and refinement vs capability and value.

If you put more weight in something simple and straight-forward that just works and everything it does it does well...then get an iPhone.

If you put more weight in value for your money and the ability to do as much as possible on your phone...get an Android.

The only other argument is really ecosystems but I think even that is overthinking. Most stuff in compatible in some way or another these days unless you feel the need to seamlessly switch devices.

Anything can happen. How many folks have had to restore new iPhones, new Pixels or any other smartphone you can think of because something went hanky in the setup? It happens. I experienced it with my S10+, just some settings bugged out in my initial setup, so I restored it and it's fine. Had to do it with my launch-day iPhone X and even after that it was still a mess of a device. It happens. And look, if it fixed the issue, which so far it seems to be working out for that particular user, then who cares?

Personally I think Samsung have built a similar ecosystem that works well

S10 plus
Galaxy watch
Galaxy buds
Tab S4

For my usage works well

I’m far more into android than iPhones, so I’m not ripping Samsung. I just could never get consistent battery life on any of my galaxy phones. The last one I owned was the s8+, so maybe the newer ones are better.

The stats on the S10 are pretty detailed as it is, with how much % each app uses, background use etc. Fairly easy to see where the drain is. Surely it’s not necessary to have another app that will use battery itself?

I think I am going to retire from this site since I have no more interest in iPads, iPhones, and Macs.

It's hard to even watch Apple pressers. It's been crigneworthy stuff.

Glad to have move onto Samsung. Peace out everyone. Great talking to you all about products and software over the years. Thanks for the awesome discussions, tips, and other conversations.

It’s good to estimate battery health and also to see how well it’s sleeping. As far as I know, no stock android phone shows this info.

I've tried this myself like five times, haha. I feel what you're saying for sure, and maybe one of these days I'll have the strength just to move on. Good luck to you if you are gone for good.

So for the past two days, my S10 has started to hang in Chrome and other apps. No response except when clicking the power button. Also, scrolling in those same apps has begun to stutter. Device care shows 100/100, so it shouldn't be related to anything like that...

Too anyone who is not getting expected battery life download CPU spy app and check if your phone is going into deep sleep. If it isn't go into general management settings / reset / reset assesibilty settings / reset network settings then reset settings. No need to do a factory reset!!

I have the exynos version and I managed to get 2 days standby with 5 hours SOT, on most days I'm getting over 8 hours SOT with ease with no power saving settings enabled.

All the best and sorry to see you go if you are! For me personally though it's actually the Android discussion which makes me continue hanging around...ironically better and more nuanced on this forum than any of the dedicated Android ones. IMO. So cmon bud, cock that Sammy phone and stick it to the iSheep... :D

Best to wishes to you guys and everyone else too. Yep, I am going to enjoy my Samsung as much as I can. Sadly yep, going to go because I simply lost my interest in Apple products. My Mac is the last daily driver I will be using until it craps out. At some point, the Surface Go could take over on a day to day.

I'll miss the discussions. It was fun while it lasted. Off to ride into the sunset. Later everyone.

You don't actually have to leave though. Just discuss your Samsung in this thread and don't go to other parts of the forum, lol.

So I may have come across 2 issues today after a full day at work, ones that I'm hopeful to work out.

1. My fingerprint scanner success rate went from probably above 90% to about 60%. Part of it may have been because I was snacking a couple times and maybe I had greasy thumbs. Another part of it might be that I was busy at work and wasn't paying as close attention to how I was pressing on the screen. So it might fix itself naturally.

2. I've had random apps open on me immediately after unlocking the screen a couple times. This one is strange. One time it was Outlook, the next time it was Slack. Then Google. No real rhyme or reason. Something I'll keep an eye on as well.

Well there’s this part of the forum. I like this forum. It’s well run and it works decently with my browsers. I like this site overall because they do bring news that’s not just Apple news even though they get criticized for it and are obligated to present a slant to it.

Also I never want to lose track of what Apple is doing even if I were to abandon all of my Apple gear. Which after today’s keynote, I am tempted to do. Honestly that was just horrible. It saps a little bit of my soul to see Apple in business with Goldman Sachs. Ewwww.

But I’m hoping my stomach will settle and I’ll see something of value out of what was presented today.

Anyway still no movement on my preorder.

They received my husband’s S9+ and credited him and it’s apparently settled but my preorder still has a hold on it. I’ll have to ask him if it still can be canceled. Then it’s really stalled out if that’s the case. It’s been a whole month now since I placed the order.

Agreed this section is great for android people and worth staying for this section alone
