Just checked out and played with the S10 here in a electronics store in Amsterdam

Wow, this S10 flies. Buttery smooth.
Almost as smooth as my iPhone XS.

Android 9.0 and Samsung One UI 1.1 was installed.

If I have to name one thing I didn't like, it would be still the cartoonish colored icons and some of the UI to "screaming colored".

And the cameras...just wow! Took some amazing shots

Can't wait to get mine on the 8th of March

I’m going to have a look in a little while. I’ve already pre-ordered but I want a peek lol

Which one have you pre-ordered? The plus looks awesome but I'm leaning towards the regular model. The hole punch on the smaller variant is less obtrusive and the overall size with full screen seems a near perfect balance of screen to body.

Also don’t forget demo units aren’t normally as smooth as the real production unit too.

Quidco cashback through Samsung down from 10% yesterday to 3% today. Knew I should have placed an order yesterday.

Also had a little look at them in a car phone warehouse here.

The S10e, I didn’t like. It’s just too small now for my taste.
However I do think it will do well as lots of people still want a smaller phone and this is just that, so I think it’s great that it is an option.

If I had to choose one, I’d go for the Plus as theres very little between it and the normal S10.

However, I will be sticking with my iPhone as Samsung phones and it’s OS is just not my taste. If anything, I feel like this new take has make it look even more like a cheap Chinese brand than ever before.
Those new icons.

I recently bought an Apple Watch and I understand why people say they will be hard pressed to move to android and leave that combo behind. I personally don’t think the new Galaxy Watch will compare, functionally, or aesthetically. I’ve bought loads of bands since having my watch and I love being able to dress it up or down.

Still, the devices look gorgeous and the screens look amazing so im sure people will be very happy with theirs! :)

But least icon wise you can change them to what you wish if you don’t like the look of them. Least with themes they can be changed with whatever you want.

I have ordered the galaxy active and i know it won’t do as much as my Apple Watch but i’ve Said to myself what do i really need my smart watch to do? Give me all my notifications and keep track of my fitness so for that purpose it does what it’s intended to do.

I got the plus in prisim white in 128GB. I would prefer a single hole punch and I don’t care for the second selfi camera but I want the bigger display.

Absolutely you can change them yes, it’s the beauty of Android.
My point was that for stock icons I feel like they’ve progressively got worse from Samsung over the years. Even MKBHD commented that he found them a bit cartoonish.

And any basic smart watch will give you the basic fitness tracking and notifications. It’s more the look of it for me. I get lots of compliments on my watch because of all of the bands I wear. I’m a bit sad in that I pair certain ones with different suits for work etc and it looks the part. Stainless steel helps with that too though.

Looking at the Galaxy watch it will do all the same functions but it won’t look anywhere near as good (for me) and that’s part of the reason I love the Apple Watch so much.

I also can’t have my phone in the same office as me due to security reasons so it has to be in a locker outside. Having GPS in the watch allows me to still get all my notifications which is ideal so I’d be lost without it now.

I actually like the look of the galaxy active compared to the other galaxy watch which seems too big and bulky for my tastes.

Also the price for the active at 200 quid? Can’t complain with that as my Apple Watch costs 330 pounds more which is a big jump really.

I get your reasonings for your job for example. I had cellular activated on my Apple Watch but cancelled it yesterday as i simply don’t use it anymore.

Exactly. All I do is keep track of notifications, use Apple Pay and set alarms and add events to my calendar. The galaxy active can easily do that.

Yeah cellular is free for 6 months with Vodafone and then goes up to £5 a month which I really can’t complain about.

I thought you were well and truly back with the iPhone now due to how much invested in the ecosystem you are? I would cry I think if my 3 month old £1100+ Max was only worth £770!
I’ve had it for 5 months. The S10 plus cost £899. I need to buy new AirPods as mine don’t hold a charge anymore. They cost £159. The S10 comes with free galaxy buds. So I’m not loosing any money by switching.

I’m keeping my iPads but Samsung have such good trade ins that you aren’t loosing much.

Apple have been price creeping for a while now and they aren’t offering compelling devices to justify their prices. I don’t see the point in staying in the ecosystem and paying through the nose or buying a lower speced device when I can get more for my money elsewhere.

O2 don’t even support the Apple Watch cellular so I’ve had my series 3 for well over a year and not been able to use the LTE!!

I think the galaxy watch looks better but each to their own. I’ve pre ordered in rose gold.

But I did love priority and the free gifts!

You think the Galaxy watch looks better than the Apple Watch?! I mean each to their own I guess.
I have to admit that it’s the nicest Samsung wearable I’ve seen and probably the nicest Android one too, and I would absolutely invest in one too if I jumped in on an S10. But the Milanese looped AW, for example is not comparable to this new Galaxy watch IMO. And rightly so for the insane price difference.

I don’t know if it’s the case with this new watch but with the older galaxy watch you could replace the bands with any straps with the standard connections.

Oh if you’re talking about the stainless steel Apple Watch then yes it does look better. However I learnt my lesson when I bought the first gen Apple Watch. Within a year the battery was so bad it wouldn’t even last through a day and I don’t do workouts. I was having to put it into low power mode after 6 hours. I decided going forward that I wasn’t going to get the stainless steel again as it wasn’t worth it for a device that would be compromised after a year.
[doublepost=1550929853][/doublepost]
True ;)

Worth to mention, I did like the stock Night Mode.
Oh drat. I’ve just been to have a look at the new phones. They are so beautiful. My only complaint is that the note 9 was next to them and it’s bigger than the S10 plus.

I forgot to try out dark mode. But I really liked the look and feel of One UI!

You can’t really see the hole punch and it’s not anywhere near as bad as the notch. I wanted to try and play a video in YouTube so see how the hole punch would look in full screen but I wasn’t able to expand the video for some reason.

I can fully understand why you’re doing it. You know me, I’m buying older iPhones because I can’t justify paying £1k+ for an iPhone as it is. It’s alienating a lot of their customers I think. Samsung are clearly offering better value and highlighting that consumers can get innovative features without being ripped off in the process.

Anyway I really like the overall look of the Samsung Active Watch. I only need my smartwatch to track all of mine notifications and see my agenda and sometimes using the smartwatch navigation when I'm not in my car. That would do fine right?

Side by side with the Apple watch.

Went hands on with all three S10 models. Beautiful devices and the S10+ just feels so good in hand, much better than my Max. It’s also so light! Love it.

Still disappointed to see Samsung still limiting the brightness of these devices at max brightness in an area that isn’t producing high ambient light. Looks like somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 nits on these devices and it showed compared to my Max and my wife’s XS.

They tout 1200 nits but that’s probably with an average picture level of 1% in direct sunlight. Hardly useful! Only when you open up an HDR YouTube video does the brightness crank up to match the XS models regardless of the ambient light. All other YouTube videos are held back to the 400 nit range. Same story with the S9’s and S8’s.

Here’s a XS vs S10e, looked the exact same between the XS Max and S10+.

400nits?

Reviewers are stating you can manually hit 850nits. Maybe you had auto brightness on?

Is it only me, or do others feel that Apple's "encryption talk" is mainly just puffery? Samsung makes the list for enterprise friendliness too, so why do people put Apple on a pedestal?
