He dislikes the gestures but they aren’t going to be like iOS

The on screen buttons are far better IMO than the Samsung gestures

I've been using the gestures for how a week now. The couple of days was horrible, because I still had the habit of swiping up to unhide the navi bar before pressing the button. I had to get accustom to realize swiping is now a button action. Now I'm used to it.

In one way I like it, because it's just one step vs two steps of unhide then tap. But what I don't like is Samsung completely got rid of the option to unhide the navi bar. It's either static navi or gestures. And I don't favor a static navi bar.

What color phone is Everything Apple Pro using in his video? Blue or Green?

Edit: oh apparently that’s green. Looks aqua. I envy the UK getting that color.

I haven't paid much attention to Samsung devices for the past year or so, but can anyone remember how long after release that Samsung were offering discounts or BOGO's on the S9? I thought it was something like 2 months after release.

Anyone having second thoughts about switching from the iPhone XS Max to any of the S10 models?

No. LOL

I really got bored and sick of how locked down everything is. iPhones are great, no doubt. But I was trapped in the ecosystem and I'm excited to have more options going forward.

I want to save $ and also get more freedom, but I am kinda thinking what if Apple makes the changes I want in iOS 13 or what if the Galaxy isn't as smooth as it is seems.

Changes will be made but doubt it will be where it becomes like android.

Give it a try then sell it if it isn’t up to your tastes.

And that right there is why I have my 3XL, but still kept my XS Max. Best of both worlds (for the most part).

Edit: and you’re 99% right. Apple will most likely never allow iOS to be as customizable as android (I’m giving it a 1% chance). ;)

It looks like AT&T is already offering it.

I'm with T-Mobile and their only offering entails having to add another line. Looking for a more straight forward BOGO or even buy one and get half off type of thing. If I remember correctly, Samsung offers some of these directly through them some time after release.

I was in the process of switching over so that instead of a main line dedicated to an iPhone and a secondary to an Android, I would go with Pixel 3XL and Samsung. But I’m waiting to see if my 3XL will continue to be as reliable as my Xr is. My husband has had results that make me cautious.

My S9+ definitely is a solid proven device as a phone and a computer, but it is about to be traded for the S10+, which in turn will have to prove itself to me and represent for Samsung all over again.

I remember what it’s like to have only one phone line, so I definitely do understand any hesitation to leave iPhones. I never found them particularly good as actual phones until getting the Xr, though. And now that my iPhone’s modem is as reliable as iOS generally is across the board, it’s hard to let go.

And I’ll be honest. If the XS Max had not given me connectivity problems and migraines, and had been the same good phone my Xr has been (despite battery strangeness), I would not have thrown myself as fully into Android as I am attempting to do.

But for me personally, I can’t be paying those XS Max prices and have WiFi connection issues and LTE connection problems and have a display that causes me to develop nasty crippling neurological symptoms. Also Siri needs to work better. Jeez they had a head start of years and they really blew it. It shouldn’t just be keeping up. It should be leading the pack.

I think iPhones are going to be the best again eventually but they literally make me sick. They might fix that but they improve in such small increments, I’m not going to wait for that. Also honestly, there’s so much about Apple right now and the tone set by its management that really gets on my nerves. Stop shaking me down for the change I found in my sofa cushions while you kiss up to an Orwellian regime, TC.

Could be wrong but I don't think Samsung offers them directly, they are always from a carrier and require two lines, ie. how the carrier gets paid back.

Nope

I’m tired of getting what I feel ripped off for what I buy. While my max is still a very good phone it’s got boring. It’s the same layout for 7-8 years while on the S10 what you can do is endless

Going to take me a while to get used to what the phones does

Plus I get 256GB more storage for £150 less...

No truer words have been said..... Siri is such a disappointment.
My GF and I ran an experiment to get directions and just as basic things while driving.
She used Google on my white P3 XL (she has adopted it so I have a black P3 XL coming today) and me Siri on my Xs Max.

GA was on target or close about 90% of the time when asking it for directions or restaurants.
Siri had about a 40% success rate for the same things

So then I have to ask; why did you buy the XS Max to begin with, if you knew it was more of the same and you wouldn’t be happy with it?

Ecosystem really and I’m on an annual upgrade so thought yeah I will upgrade but I was upgrading for the bigger screen and better camera

Hindsight I should have got note 9 as I love note devices

I’ve decided I can still get S10/galaxy watch/buds while still using my iPad daily

I’ve also gone google hub at home. One in the lounge and one in the bedroom. I have two homepods but I’m giving my mum one of them as compared to google assistant Siri isn’t great and given I will be using google assistant on my S10 it makes sense

Once your are free of the Apple ecosystem and adjust to the new way of doing things it gets easier. It's just nice having options and not being locked into a particular brand or device.

Yeah, I can agree with that. I recently ditched my two homepods and went with Sonos. For the price of two homepods I picked up 3x Play:One and a Beam. The hardest part was trying to figure out where to place the One(s). I have two in the bedroom and one in the kitchen, and am wondering if I really need that stereo pair in the bedroom....I have considered getting a home hub and placing it on a side table, but right now I can’t control my Sonos with it. Hopefully Sonos finishes their Google Assistant integration soon!

Using the hub this week it’s amazing how good google assistant really is and I don’t lose nothing with my home stuff as works like it would on the homepods. I do like how I can cast anything to it so for bedroom use it would be good to watch things in morning and the night clock would be a good addition too
