Quick question. Aside from the dark mode, have custom themes gained the ability to turn notifications black in the notification panel? This was always my but gripe that custom themes couldn't take advantage of the entire system UI elements.

I did not have those issues previously

The capture square was expandable and the duration was only short if you opted for auto take 600fps

The capture window was for triggering the event and not size of recording
Yeah I mean I didn't think you could record say 10 second clip, I thought it took a second clip and stretched it out to a few seconds

for those who received their new phones: ENJOY your new phones! :):)

for those who still need to wait a little longer (like me): HANG IN THERE! :D

one thing I learned from the last couple of posts; that pre installed screenprotector will be removed as soon as I receive my S10, for a much faster and more accurate fingerprint sensor / unlocking the device.

Who would've though cell signal on my S10e would be quite different than an iPhone XS Max or a Note 9? My dad's Note 9 has better bars than my S10e (his Note 9 is T-Mobile branded, my S10e is factory unlocked), yet my S10e has much faster download speeds. The upload speeds are much worse on my phone by a decent margin. My Wi-Fi also loads slower than his Note 9 and my iPhone XS Max.

Idk if this is a software issue or not? So much for Wi-Fi 6? If cell signal is worse on this device, I might have to just hold onto my XS Max reluctantly.

Very bizarre, if there is one thing that Samsung always do well its Cell signal and Data speeds. I wonder if the S10e has a different radio to the S10 and s10+.

I wouldn't think so given that it is the 855 processor in each of the NA models. I will give this device a run for a week or so and make a decision. If it is this poor all the way through, I may have to just move back to the XS Max and maybe settle to wait for the Pixel 4.

After deliberating a bit, I think I'm going to pick up the Samsung Watch and cancel my pre-order for the Watch Active. The 46mm silver looks incredible.

Some initial first impressions
S10+ Black 128GB direct from Samsung

All around not too different from past models.
Nice and light for a 6.4 inch display phone
remove the pre-installed screen protector before setting up the phone.
Coming from the Pixel 3 XL and Xs Max... This phone is narrow lol
This phone is fast and very snappy!
Love the double tap to wake!

I should be able to text the camera out this weekend

Thanks! In your opinion, how much better is the screen compared to the Pixel 3 XL?

I doubt I will keep the wallpaper, but this looks good for now. :)
I'm also using "Midnight Blue" icons from the Galaxy Theme store. The default icons are too damn big for my liking. This icon pack wraps them up nicely.

Those look cartoon like to me. :p

I'll be going for the black ceramic. I think. I'd prefer the Prism Blue as it's nicer, but it doesn't come in anything larger than 128 GB.

Seems like Android still doesn't let you reply to texts or What's App messages from a lock screen, like the iPhone does. And there is no way to change the icons w/o a theme? I didn't remember the Google Assistant suggesting sports scores to me for teams I don't follow. That is quite weird and I need help turning that off.

Tap on the notification after awakening the screen. Swipe down on selected notification. Type your text from there. Though this depends on what app you use. Don't think Messages AKA Samsung Messages allows for this, but Pulse, Textra, Google Messages and the lot should let you.

I only know that Android O changed how it previously worked, but any decent app with draw over ability should be able to do this without a problem. Samsung Messages sucks and it always has sucked. Google Messages is better, but by golly their interface is slow as molasses and the hand-off to computer is slower or was when I tried it out. You're better off using a better third party app.

You can change icons without applying a theme from the Galaxy Theme store.

On the screen shot is does. But on the phone itself it doesn't. The display is so sharp.

The black ceramic is the best looking one IMO. I didn't see it in person though.

I haven't got a clue how it looks like in person but it doesn't matter since I always use a case. That said, I wanted the blue on account of getting a transparent case this time around. I'll have to go over the material again, but it looks like Verizon is only offering the 512 GB in ceramic.

It probably isn't something as durable or tough at lithium disilicate ceramic. Mostly because making those in a factory would pose a fire risk and extreme wear on robots. You need a hard diamond bit to cut into the material and will go through several bits before you can finish what you need to do.

The Black Ceramic is probably my favorite color since the iPhone Jet Black, hope it holds up better than that. Just finished working so just starting to set things up, by can see the frustration people are having with the fingerprint sensor. I am unlocked so haven't got the update yet, so will reserve judgement for that, but can see how people could be having issues with it.

Think you maybe playing with too many variables to auto assume its the phone :)

I wanted to avoid the store completely because I remember Oreo let you change the icons in the display settings. I am not sure why some settings were removed like that. Samsung even removed the FHD to HD option on the S10e.

I tried the Google Messaging app to see if it lets me apply from the lock screen, but it doesn't. It keeps asking for biometrics to login into my device then it prompts me to send a message after. I guess that might be a "security" feature?

Oh, wait, have you got the fingerprint scan setup? That may be what's impeding it. PIN or pattern should behave as they did on previous S phones.

Try Textra and see if it behaves the same way.
