Thats 2 fairly big complaints, how else can you open it, password?
[doublepost=1552083840][/doublepost]

We don't have that problem here you can renwew/upgrade your contract with a new phone walk out of store and sell it.
I got my Xr brand new off gumtree for $529 off retail :)

I deal with the location of the FP sensor and the facial detection. It is what it is.

For a $1200 phone here i would expect better myself, no wonder Samsung don't have a 14 day return policy like apple, there would a lot going back.
yeah yeah no need to say its built into apples price, but at least you get to try it first before excepting the compromises.

So, for those people who had the S10, what grade would give this phone so far? In a scale from 0 to 10.

S10+ Ceramic White, 12gb, 1tb ...... I'm giving this phone a 9.5.

Standby battery is the best I've experienced on any Android device. It barely budges. My iPhone 8+ uses more on standby.
Onscreen battery life is also excellent.
Apps open lighting fast.
It's feels light for it's size. My S9+ feels heavier in hand.
Samsung finally got it right with the "Natural" color option on screen mode. This is the first time I'm choosing not to use "Vivid".
The speakers have good quality and loud.
The dual front camera punch hole in the display is so much better than any notch.
Samsung wasn't lying when they said less blue light. The display is much easier on the eyes, without any noticeable difference of color.
Reversible wireless charging. I topped off my Gear S3 Frontier from 59% with only a 6% loss on my S10+.
Specific to my device ... I don't have to worry about storage space.
The in display finger sensor is damn near flawless, but there is a slight learning curve.

So far I have only two minor complaints ...

The power button is higher than it should be.
When playing videos or games, a much smaller volume bar pops up, which makes it harder to fine adjust the volume. This is more of a One UI thing though, as it's the same on my S9+.

Side notes ...

The camera seems good as expected, but I haven't tested it out much yet. I do love the wide shot though.

I haven't setup the facial scanner, and probably never will.

Samsung has a 30 day return period here I believe. No restocking fee. For a $700 USD phone, it should be better. I agree on that. But I am also probably not returning to my iPhone XS Max to save $. If the facial detection doesn't improve, I may just turn it off.

For the S10e, the location of the FPS on the power button will either be great or horrible depending on the user. For me testing it out at Best Buy it was great. Someone with bigger or smaller hands than mine might find it awkward.

The power button on the s10+ is really high up for my comfort. I’m glad the FPS isn’t located in the power button on that model!

I’ve not had too much time with it properly, there’s so many apps and settings to sort out. Which takes ages having to manually log into everything (that’s where iOS keychain always comes in handy with iDevices).

Initial impressions tell me it’s a fantastic phone. So many features it will take a while to get it all exactly how I want it. Screen is fantastic as expected. I love my XS Max but spending so much on a phone, I want more options and it’s not taken me too long to miss the features & customisations of Android.

The camera is always one of the most important things to me because I travel & take thousands. I knew it wouldn’t be as good as a Pixel and as I’ve said many times, I’ve always found the front camera lacking on anything other than an iPhone or Pixel. But you can’t have everything and the amount of features are always the biggest draw for the S & Note range. And the camera is still very good though.

It does feel a little narrow and lighter than expected (got the 512gb ceramic model) but that’s something I’ll quickly adjust to. The worst thing so far is the FPS, which is too hit and miss for me at the moment. And I do love tapping my iPhone to view notifications when it sees my face.

I bought the official red leather case which I wasn’t going to use until I knew I was keeping it. But couldn’t get the cheaper clear one I wanted until Sunday so I opened it. Darker than it looks online (which I prefer), really like it.

Couple of quick pics in the case. It looks a lot brighter with the flash but it’s syncing media & can’t move into the light! This post probably reads a little rambling. Oh well!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is really enjoying this phone, how do the speakers compare to your S9?

We get no change of mind policy here on any phone except a iPhone bought from Apple direct, telcos or retailers won't except returns once opened unless faulty/damaged.

The sound fills out(for lack of better term) the area more. Not saying it's fills an entire room(maybe a small one), but it definitely fills up a radius of about 15+ feet. It's like surround but not quite. The S9+ just has a normal direct stereo sound.

Comparison is with Dolby Atmos on both enabled.

Reason I ask is in direct comparisons my S9 has the more fuller sound with noticeably more bass and less distortion, its probably the biggest complaint about my s10+

Maybe I’m just misreading comments from here as well as around other parts of the web, but this doesn’t appear to be the homerun I thought it would be. Seems like a lot of folks are just meh on it. I don’t know, it’s early obviously, but I’m not overwhelmed by the reaction I’ve seen.

I haven't put this phone down all night since I got in about half 5. :D

It's easily the most customisable Android I've used as Samsung bake so much of their own stuff on top of what is universally changeable for an Android device.

One thing that strikes me (and I knew this already), is how different iOS and Android actually are.
I think having used iOS for the last 6 months has underlined that even more.
They're completely different beasts, and if I'm honest I have found myself exhausted trying to get this phone into some sort of order that I'm happy with.

After posting about not being that impressed I literally found a groove pretty much straight after hitting 'Post Reply'.
I am really starting to enjoy using this now.

But I still don't feel satisfied. I think that's always been my issue with Android though - there's so many options it's sometimes difficult for me to settle. Whereas with iPhone, it kind of is what it is so I became accustomed to that and got on with it.

I am enjoying the choice I have currently though - a bit like a kid in a candy shop. :p

Haha that's why the Pixel is the perfect gateway.

Probably depends what you are playing. Maybe check the equalizer settings. I haven't touch my equalizer settings yet. I tested both phones with NFS Most Wanted, Spotify, and my own lossless music files. The S10+ had better quality and louder. I didn't have distortion on either phone.

It's the best phone I've ever used. I think people are just being critical and pointing out minor flaws. The fps will improve with use and updates. Overall it's an awesome phone!

That’s a fair point. Folks typically point out minor flaws more often in the early stages. The one thing that takes me back though is the polarizing reaction to the FPS. Seems like it’s either great, or bad from person-to-person. This could be users getting used to how it works. And as you said, it could possibly be improved via software. In the end, the FPS is going to make-or-break device, IMO.

I don't think it a software issue for the most part. I think users are so used to front FPS being at the very bottom, which is not the case for the S10/S10+.

I'm trying to figure out exactly what the issue is that people are having with the fps because it's flawless for me. Perhaps it's a combination of getting a good registration of your fingerprint to start and getting used to where to place your finger with the screen off. My muscle memory kicked in very quickly and it feels intuitive.

I think the FPS learns the more you use it.
I updated my device as soon as I unboxed it and found that the scanner was consistently asking me to try again which was annoying.

But that hasn't happened now for hours and I've been using the phone a lot.

I just tried with my other thumb that I registered at the same time (which I haven't used to unlock my phone all night) and got the try again error. So there's got to be some learning the scanner is doing.

I think it is early. Then samsung has exceeded sales expectations for this phone.
Personally it is a huge upgrade over the S9 and N9.
The FPS is a learning experience. It works great for me. Reminds me of when FaceID first came out. It was a hit and miss for everyone as well.
The S10+ is a great phone! Great camera and easily the fastest Android phone i have used.
I am getting around 7.5 hours SOT the 2 days I have had the phone so far. I am impressed with Samsung's OneUI! It has evolved into a great Android skin
It offers so many features over stock Android.

I am very impressed with with the S10+

Apples 14 day return is country specific  many places apples return policy is for DOA's only
