Just spent the last 1.5hrs going through the process. Not hard in itself but getting constant "down for maintenance" pages at every step. Might have to leave it until the morning. So frustrating as I got to the last step at one point only for it to completely throw a fit.

Phone is nice though!
Yeah same here will also have to wait till morning too

Amazing phone so far but so much to put on it

Polished aluminum holds up well on my S7 which I still have and was nice on my S7 Edge.

I’m so excited about my S10e order. I will be missing the huge battery capacity on the S10+ but with quick charge I’ll be fine. Also a bit bummed at giving up the zoom, but it was my understanding that the optical zoom doesn’t always engage on Samsungs or iPhones anyway except in really strong lighting. I haven’t missed it on my Xr after all. We shall see if I miss it on the s10e.

It’s going to be small and cute and pocket friendly like my Pixel 2 has been, and I am looking forward to that.

I can’t wait for the pink chassis but if I get a pink display I’m going to send it back so fast I will cause a small tornado.:p But I’ll just get another one. They aren’t all like that.

I don’t think I’ll end up with seizures but I might get eye strain on the OLED. This would be the same situation I had on my Pixel 2. And that’s where my habit of running multiple phones comes in handy. I can offload my heavy duty reading to my 3XL which is what I do now anyway.

I am looking at this little pink punk to take my 3XL sim. And operate my 3XL on WiFi. The pink punk will take all my calls via Google voice. I’m hoping it can handle the job of being the phone that is always on me. But my Xr will keep its current sim. 3XL will keep its job of being the device I do emails and web visits on over WiFi.

In the summer I will re-evaluate everything. Thats the vague plan I have now. Who knows what life’s harsh realities will do to my plans?

The only problem with my getting the S10e is that it sort of makes my Pixel 2 redundant. I was keeping that as my small pocket pal phone. The s10e always appealed to me but the reason I went with the largest Samsung was that Snowball the Pixel 2 filled a certain niche for me. Oh well I’m not sorry I kept Snowball. It gives me fond reminders of a fun vacation with a person who is no longer with us.

My next big quest will be to find a case and display protector. I’m assuming this model can take tempered glass okay. That opens up my options for cases. I’m thinking of the matching coral silicone one Samsung makes. But I might go clear. I want to enjoy that flamingo pink! :D

Went to a local Verizon store and of course they didn't see the pink shift. They agreed to an exchange though so I was satisfied. The replacement still has some pink shift, it's better than the original and not too bad. Mostly blue shift. The in store display unit of course looks perfect with just the normal blue shift. It is what it is. Not worth it to obsess over this and will enjoy this phone. Feels so comfortable in hand.

I skipped Samsung smart switch and am just doing a Google Drive back up from my Pixel. Is there any advantage to using Samsung's app vs. Google Drive?

Man there are so many nice little touches built into everything. I used Google maps for the first time today and raising the phone lit up the screen.

I am doing the full Samsung experience with gear s3 frontier, S10+, and the buds. Everything is really nicely integrated. Certainly the most cohesive experience you can have outside of a iPhone.

I also watched this video about Samsung dex. I had no idea they opened it up to work with any USB hub. This will be awesome for traveling since all I need is this hub and a HDMI cable to connect to a hotel TV and have the ability to watch videos, edit photos, get some work done etc.

I also ordered a folding keyboard with track pad for using it as a desktop.

So I gave up and then decided to have one last go.

Seems someone has let the handbrake off and it's now reasonably quick. Trouble is the site now says my IMEI has already been claimed. I did get to the very last page once so I'm hoping it's actually gone through and I'll get an email over the next few days.

I suspect a phone call is going to be happening next week though..

Well.
It hasn't been long. So I'm taking my early impressions with a pinch of salt.

But so far, I'm not feeling it.

And I can't put my finger on why yet, but it's the same as it's been with every other Galaxy I've tried.
And yes, therefore why did I bother etc - I ask myself the same question. But I was very intrigued with all of the additional things that Samsung have covered with the S10's.

The Instagram mode in the camera, the screen, the overall design, fantastic camera etc.

I am still very much in the set up phase at the moment so I can't really say more than my initial early thoughts.

I have to say the fingerprint scanner equally impresses and annoys me. When it works, it is seamless and I cannot that this tech is actually even available. A finger print scanner, underneath that display of that quality with no compromise is absolutely staggering.

However it doesn't always work. And I'm having to re-press a lot. People saying that you need to just literally tap / graze (by people, I mean people on interwebs), and that doesn't work in my experience.
Anyway, I'll see how it fares over time.

My biggest gripe is the text style in apps like Facebook and Instagram. Compared to iOS, I just hate it. It looks like when a web page hasn't loaded properly and you just get plain text with no images. I really don't like it and this is what I mean when I say I think iOS apps are more polished. Appreciate that is a very particular thing though.

I'll give it some more time. I am also finding it a bit narrow as others have said. Too narrow almost. It's great for one handed use, but I do wish it was just a bit plumper. :p

Still, you'll have people complain about it not being so good because they paid $1000 for a phone. If you're paying $1000 for a device with first-gen tech, it's not going to take you to the moon and back. User error will also be a huge contributing factor for the ultrasonic sensor.

Everyone has a right to complain as you pointed out. But which side is to blame here? He is transferring data from an iPhone. Is it Apple or Samsung? Apple is notorious for not playing nice with others so to speak.
I have done this with my Pixel 3 XL to S10+ and had no issues. But had 3 failed attempts with my Xs Max. It kept asking for my encrypted backup password. I know my password as I made it the same as my Apple ID.
I finally gave on transferring data from my iPhone.

That's weird. My iPhone XS Max played fine with the S10e. But I guess Apple has to bear some blame if they're tampering with a relatively seamless process. They're famous for their iMessage deregistration problems.

FPS will get better with updates...it’s first gen so won’t be perfect I think people need to do more than one FP for the finger they use the most which seems to help.

Meanwhile smart switch still on. 99.9%

I have no idea what to do if it’s like this for another hour like before.

Did three scans for thumb, FPS much more reliable now.

But I unlock all my phones with Assistant, OK Google so ....

I just downloaded Lean Launcher (one I've used before) and my oh my. Good bye terrible Samsung launcher.
Hello aesthetically pleasing goodness. :D

Thanks, I will try it.

So, for those people who had the S10, what grade would give this phone so far? In a scale from 0 to 10.

9.1 out of 10:

  • Tremendous display
  • Fast performance
  • Great cameras
  • Loud speakers
  • Good battery life on the S10e

Only knocks on it are the following:

  • Facial Detection stinks
  • Missing a case that the international market got
  • The FP sensor is too high on the S10e.

haha there is none, its suppose to be only for cash face to face. If anything goes wrong they won't help you.

Yeah, then I wouldn't risk it on something so new. Could be something sketchy about it, like someone getting a device BOGO w/o paying off for the entire product. It happened to my family member getting a S9 that still had a balance on it.

Just one thing you can change the text style to whatever you like in display settings.

Sometimes I just don’t understand what goes on with Apple’s services. I play Animal Crossing on my iPhones. About once or twice a month an event comes up and I buy leaf tickets for the game. I initiate the purchase in the game, i authenticate it with Face ID and the payment comes from my credit card associated with my account. Smooth, usually.

But periodically this connection between my credit card comes undone despite nothing changing at all. And it takes my husband to unravel it for me. I had to authenticate my account biometrically countless times and enter account passwords and fix something in Apple Pay. Luckily my husband was handling this for me and all I had to do was stick my face up for Apple ID as he went about the work of getting everything put back together in working order.

I am not stupid, but it was just that confusing and I wasn’t sure if it somehow mixed my account with my husband’s through our family sharing plan. It was completely unclear based on the prompts I was getting as to what the problem was and what I was supposed to do about it. I ended up in this endless loop of prompts and authentication attempts. It wasn’t even readily apparent to my husband at first what was going on.

My poor sister-in-law needs us to help her with iCloud all the time. She gets so confused so easily. She’s an educated woman, but she’s in her 60’s and did not grow up tech savvy. Still, whatever happened to “it just works” and Steve Jobs’ delight at having old grandmas using iPads because the software and hardware were so seamless and well executed?

I am guess that’s collateral damage in the war over cyber security. I guess nothing can be simple anymore and still be secure.

Thanks, I will try it.

It's basically a more customisable Pixel launcher. Which is my ideal for Android.
Icons look better, you can really customise the size (I've gone slightly bigger) and I prefer the notification 'dots' over Samsung's horrible orange numbered icon.

Wow!
Could be a game changer...!

We don't have that problem here you can renwew/upgrade your contract with a new phone walk out of store and sell it.
I got my Xr brand new off gumtree for $529 off retail :)

I’ve done this many times between the pixel 3 and the XS Max and have never experienced an issue. Also, it was extremely fast between the two devices. Not sure what Samsung has going on there.

The only thing that I’ve been unable to find a way to carry over are WhatsApp chats. And that’s due to the iPhone version syncing to iCloud and the Android version syncing to Google Drive.
