Ultra phone = ultra price 🤑🤑🤑
This is not the peak of the trend though. Companies will compete who makes the slimmest and lightest phone in the market. So in 2025/2030 expect to pay $3000-$4000.

Long live my Note10+ together until death do us apart 😔.

In Canada, I paid $3000 for my two Note 10+. You guys in the USA got it good with prices. Lol.
Which is less than what it cost in the UK. And no great trade in deals either.

I'm not saying those prices are accurate, but did anyone really expect the Ultra to be $1k?

Saw MKBHD blind test mentioned as well. Talk about an ultra limited & pointless test. lol

The continued price hikes is inevitable and on principle, I can see myself keeping a phone for 2 years going forward as opposed to swapping every year, which I’ve done since 2008

With flagship androids it is also going to be prudent to wait a few months after launch for the accompanying price drop that always occurs.

He didn’t take any pictures of moving kids in his test.
Because it's not an issue, anyone with a greater bias to this type of photo sets the default mode to take the equivalent of shutter priority, the rest can leave it in the preset as the test and get great pictures

It’s an issue. I know because that’s ultimately why I moved away from the Note 10. And I played with the pro settings.

For you maybe :)

I have this issue as well. Just because it isn't your issue, doesn't mean it's not real. The oil painting effect of my kids skin tone from Samsung cameras indoors is quite annoying. And the blurry shots. Doesn't happen on Pixel or iPhone. Now, while this is incredibly annoying for me, as a complete package, Samsung phones phones have everything I want. So I do use them as a daily driver but I do hope they can work on their post processing algorithms. The Note 10+ was easily my favorite device of 2019 despite these short comings.

I see it the other way just because you have it, its not everyone else :)

But for sure when they use to have a sports mode it was easier, not sure why they took it away

Isn't it much better for a phone camera to cope perfectly well for every situation? Leaving the only deciding factor personal preference of the type of picture it outputs.

but I'm not the only one to have this issue...

yes, in the past, sports mode was a decent workaround and I wish it was still there. I've been using a Gcam port for pics of my kids indoors but should't have to resort to such workarounds to get good consistent pics.

I'm just as curious about iPhone and Android on this, will it hit that glass ceiling? I think Android will it hit it first. They'll see sales drop once they hit a certain price point. Apple will do slightly better but I think they'll notice more people going longer.

You can only throw so many features at a slab until people start thinking it's not a worthy upgrade. Yes, you'll still have the yearly loyalists in both groups but Android will definitely take the hit first. Too much competition in that market.

I’m curious what settings you changed in Pro Mode to help suffice the moving objects issue. Care to share?

I agree, removing sports mode has forced users to fiddle with pro mode by adjusting iso settings, shutter speed, flash and burst mode along with panning, depending on situations

Its a bit like the old SLR days when Pentax was aperture priority (more) and Cannon was shutter priority (more)

Its almost a case that us armchair critics and pixel peepers are demanding so much from these little sensors and lens with on the fly image processing that otherwise would absorb a lot of time with raw photos.

We just end up nit picking on personal preferences and when we are given more options we moan it's too confusing

But for sure it seems a poor judgement on Samsung to omit Sports mode since the S9's given lens are generally faster/lower F stops more so that flash is almost irrelevant opposed to capturing action shots.

Sadly prices have been confirmed...

Ugh so lately I have been becoming interested in some of these newer devices for a short time then the interest wanes. Maybe it's because more or less, they are all basically the same fundamentally, maybe I'm just losing interest in the little pocket data miners computers. Or perhaps it's just the ridiculous prices for more of the same.

Seeing these prices do nothing to help keep me in this hobby I had with these pocket computers, nor does the control the companies involve with them exert, not does the spam calls, nor does the almost forced reliance (though it's hasn't really been "forced" now has it?) On them.

I wonder what the pixel XL 5 is going to cost? Probably at least 1k base model.

Meh, sorry. Haven't been posting much and lately seems my posts have started to get a bit of a snarky and cynical bent to them I guess.

What happened? I mean I've lost a bunch of interest, not sure when, kind of happened when Google adopted the ab partition and dropped the Nexus line and other handset manufacturers just dropped off the radar 😟

You guys are all, "nah, too expensive...."
Come pre-order there will be extra gifts, I bet we'll see a few "nah, too expensive...." with shiny new S20's lol.

Man, I really hope the Note 20 doesn't go down the crazy price path because I can't imagine not buying it.

Whilst prices will drop if you’re willing to hold out a few months, that new pricing doesn’t seem much, if any, different to iPhone pricing. Especially when you factor in the miserly storage option of the base 11 pro max.

least expensive 11 pro max from 2019 is £1149 here in the uk.

agreed....an iPhone with the same features is a couple hundred $$ more than the rumored prices of the Ultra for sure :)

Well Samsung just confused the hell out of me, their current pre-order is for a Lite version of S10 and Note 10 plus the A71 and A51 most with a bundle/add on
