For me, it's the same thing I have to say about all these so called "objective," or in his case, "brutally honest" YouTubers. Every time a new Samsung flagship comes out, they make these, "don't buy the new galaxy flagship, but the old one" videos. Their reason being, price and value of the new device. But then they proceed to go buy every new iPhone that costs more. I call these mainstream YouTubers, the establishment. Until I see these clowns complain about the iPhone price, and then proceed to promote to not buy the new iPhone, as well as they themselves proceed to not buy the newest iPhone, I'll keep thinking of them as the click bait fools that they are.

He flip flops a lot but lately he’s been very negative towards Samsung and overly positive towards Apple. I agree about complaining about the price. iPhones are expensive but everyone seems to be giving Apple a pass.

The high prices are more justified with iPhones to a certain extent, because they hold their resale value much better than Android phones.

But resale value aint inportant for average user, they use phibes for 3-4 years, resale value in this case decrease quite a lit for both, android and iphone and then, higher the initial price, higher the loss at resale

Also it depends on the OEM and your region. Samsung have very good trade in deals when you want to upgrade. So even if you are a frequent upgrader you can get good value for your phone when you want to upgrade.

And the average user isn't going to spend $1400 on a phone.

The high prices and lack of sales by Apple are actually why they hold their resale value. Apple never discount their phones and therefore secondhand sellers don’t need to reduce price much to beat new phone prices from retailers.

First year sales prediction for s20. Wow look how s7 beat all but then sales dropped probably because Note 7's drama.

I know what you mean but not what you said LOL

Apple can charge more because you get more on resale ........... not :)

Whilst it is true in a few countries they hold their price better many they don't or it's not a factor and as we have pointed out many times the trade in and bundle deals you get with Samsung more often or not out weigh the perceived apple savings

I say perceived as resale also will depend in you have AC included and the true cost of any phone is not the box sticker price, there are case, screen protectors, etc etc to be considered, many of which are free/included/bundled with Samsung

Many who trade in every year with Samsung get great bargains, stay current with latest and do not have to be concerned with extended warranties

Can’t stand him. Never make it through his clips, makes loads of noise and that’s about it!
Agreed and he even gives bad advice, early adopters often get better deals than those that wait, the bundles often $2-500 value are better in most cases than the drop 3-5 months later on a phone now that will be upgraded sooner

I imagine we are at or nearing the point where people will not buy the premium version and will settle on a lesser version. I know for me, we hit that point recently with Apple and the prices now are my limit. Any higher and I'll buy used or a less version. I'm definitely not gonna shell out $1400+. Even with a trade in it's a rip off. Gotta give them a year old (or less) phone for the privilege of only paying $800 or so?

I'm betting the Ultra outsells all other models. You just know there's gonna be promo deals and trade in deals. I'm sure vendors will be pushing that new camera.

I am betting that Samsung will have a some great trade in offers.
It seems all the hype is around the camera and specs. But that is a double edged sword so to speak.
Taking into consideration the price and camera hype...the Ultra better deliver!

I probably missed it as I've been just basically bopping in and out of this thread and it probably doesn't mean anything to me to know this, but are these devices still featuring a curved screen? I mean not like I'm going to buy one or anything... (Probably not...)

Nobody knows, they haven’t been released.
But word is the curve is much more subtle than in the past.

I think most people are just paying $20/month for a mid range phone and then ~$35/month for the top iPhone/Note/S10. These people won't bat an eye at ~$45-50 for the S20.

But me, I buy everything outright. Only if Samsung offers a mega trade in deal for my S8, I might consider this new model.

What would you consider a mega trade in deal for your S8?
