I am more relaxed this time around, before I buy my Note10+ I was teared between Note9, S10+ or wait for N10+. So the wait for N10+ was well worth it.

Just got this email today.....

Annual upgrade time, I think I’ll be going for the ultra. definitely intrested to see how the cameras do and if these high megapixels make any difference at all.

I’ll be extremely surprised if the photos from any of the S20 line are significantly better than the previous year. Sure there’ll be marginal improvements but I’m not expecting a huge leap forward.

What would you consider a mega trade in deal for your S8?
When I got the S8 initially I traded in a V20. They had a promo where you received $300 for V20 (Ebay listings had it for sale at $100).

So I think the phone was $750 - 300 and then it came with the Galaxy IconX wireless buds, a SD card and the GearVR headset. Crazy good deal.

If they do $300-400 for the S8 trade-in plus free accessories, I'll consider it.

Really? 108mp binned photos and a massive sensor, along with 2.4 micron pixels and a long zoom range will make a big difference.

Let’s put it into context, the S10 and the Note 10 had a 1/2.55” sensor the S20 Ultra has a 1/1.33” sensor, that’s massively bigger.

A sensor that size will be much better in all situations and in low light it will make a big difference too, especially paired with 2.4 micron pixels, whereas I believe the S10 and Note 10 I believe have 1.4 micron pixels.

Much more resolution, much more zoom and many more micron pixels, that should equal a big difference in quality and not just a small difference.

It’s a massive leap in hardware, get the software right and it will be an amazing camera!

Unless Samsung totally bungles the software, then the camera on the ultra should be a huge leap forward in picture quality. Especially on the zoom.

Samsung just like Huawei can’t get the computational software aspect of photography right even with superior hardware.

Samsung colors are no where close to real life and the skin smoothening is the real beauty gate.
Huawei colors are funky as well with reddish tones to compensate for Asian yellow skin tones.

I don't think it's that Samsung can't get it right with the skin tones. I think it's because the way they come out is how Koreans prefer it. I read an article on it once a while back.

Wiwh they could improve portrait mode. It's that bad I never use it. While on Pixels I used it all the time, especially as they give you the original pic as well.

I would consider the S20 series if it comes out with dual sim like an iPhone. Until that happens I can't even consider it since I have two lines.

Google announced something big coming from them at Samsung’s unpacked event. Nobody really knows what it could be. My guess would be they reveal their support for foldable devices in official android code along with the clamshell foldable Samsung release.

I did read a rumor that someone said it could be a stock android s20 device. While I don’t see this happening, it would be amazing.

The best fails with Samsung portrait mode are pretty hilarious. My girlfriend and I were at a wedding when I had the Note 10. Granted I was drunk but I had no clue that the camera was going to consider her part of the background and blur her completely out.

Mkbhd mentioned something like that as well, a gpe and while that'd be awesome, I could also see the big G announce something totally doofy and pointless probably something like "we've partnered with Sammy to bring exclusive fortnight skins to stadia!" Or "stream stadia to your 1500 dollar s20 ultra" or something similarly facepalm-esq 😖

Or software updates for 4 years.

If it was a Google Play Edition, I don’t know that anyone would but Pixels. Lol

There are a few S10s floating around on FB marketplace for less than they are going for on swappa.

May end up hedging my bets and buying one.
