Which one would you guys trade for the S20 Ultra?

S9 plus for $300 or iPhone Pro Max for $700. I'm thinking to trade in the S9 plus while it still has some value. The Pro Max will retain a good trade in value for at least another 2 years. Unfortunately, Samsung doesn't offer the option to trade in the S10 plus.

If the next iPhone has a new antenna, I'm definitely trading the Pro Max for it.
I was in a similar position deciding to I go for $300 trade on a Pixel 3XL or $700 for my Note 10+ (that actually cost me less than $700 thanks to trading in my S10+). I decided to trade the Pixel since it’s losing value so fast. And I don’t use it anymore. I use my Note 10+ and it’s pretty unique among my phones for the S Pen.

Getting back to your question, I’d trade the S9 plus while the getting is good. Also if you end up going back to an iPhone, I think Apple takes only other iPhones in trade for a new iPhone.

Which Caudabe case are you using? I agree on the 5.8" pro, best version of this size phone yet and could be the last, definitely a keeper.
Caudabe Lucid Clear in Crystal and I am using their tempered glass screen protector, too. Very nice combo. They had a great sale last month but are now running a new deal where you get a free screen protector with purchase of a case.

Ok seen several videos - hands on, pwm still there
I think it's on all OLED displays, isnt it? You just have to find one that blinks at a frequency that doesn't make you sick. I'm finally ok on iPhone screens (but still can't use their dark mode as I get eye strain, interestingly) and I am ok on my Note.

Where it really gets weird is I had a computer monitor with a flicker that made my eyes water. I'd have to squint through tears to use it for half an hour.

After I got my iPhone 11 Pro and got used to the display, I can use my computer monitor fine. I played Sims 4 on it for hours around the holidays. Lol, it's like my iPhone recalibrated my brain. o_O:D

Okay, so instead of trading in my S9 Plus for $300, I'll be trading my S10 Plus for $600. Going towards the S20 Ultra 512gb black. I put in a reservation. I didn't see the option to trade the S10 Plus until I signed in.

Granted it's a store demo and not final but so far Pixel camera processing is still ahead overall.

That's goes to show. The Pixel cameras might not have the best specs but when it comes to real life use, they perform when it matters.

8k resolution at a low 25fps is a feature but not a benefit worth highlighting.

The lighting inside stores is notoriously bad. I don’t think there was much either way on those comparisons. None of the shots wowed me really. We need a range of shots in different lighting conditions to get a real feel for the camera.

However I’m not discrediting the pixel camera. It’s amazing what they are able to do with software. In fact it’s amazing what google can do with software and I’m not just talking about cameras. I’m still haven’t got over duplex yet.

Did anyone miss DJ Koh this year? The new guy seems nice enough but he doesn’t have the same presence as DJ Koh.

It’s all in the software and it’s where google and Apple are able to put out great consistent cameras due to what they do with software side and why pro max and pixel had the best cameras last year for me. I’m sure Apple software will make TOF even more impressive

any ideas when we will see some proper camera reviews on the ultra? i need to see before I preorder if all these high numbers are just marketing traps.

Not gonna fall for the store demo comparisons.
There will be enough photo comparisons soon enough.
But what ALWAYS happens when a big company new phone is released.....
Some yahoos always want to be the first with a video comparing it to some other phone and the new phone FAILS. It's a great way to get hits and followers on their YouTube channels!

I’m leaning towards just sticking with my 11 Pro. I’m happy where I’m at. While the Ultra looks amazing, there just really aren’t enough features that would affect me DAILY that would justify the change.

I'd love to know how you got the impression it's more optical than digital from that article.

"More optical" doesn't mean its 100% optical. Its a hybrid of both but looking from the pics above and youtube videos i can assure you its not digital zooming. Like i said the whole process of space zooming is not 100% clear to all of us but the pics above posted by Shanghaichica look amazing even after double tap and deep zooming.
