Up to $1499 the price was reasonable and realistic but now its really getting out of control so imagine the next Note phone ?

Upstate NY . Was FL.
Samsung against Apple when it comes to prices is the same story as Korean carmakers vs European/Japanese ones a couple of years ago. Everyone was expecting them to cut on price, but in the meantime they caught up with design, quality and technical advancement, often even surpassing their old competition. Hence, there is no actual justification for them to sell their tech at lower prices. Personally I would not buy myself a Samsung, but I can't see the complaints about S20 pricing being legit considering that these handset are, let's be honest, clearly superior to current iPhones (and still cheaper than the latter!).
Not sure about the UK, but there's an auto trade saying here in America. Once your in a Hyundai , you'll always be in a Hyundai. Primarily for the trade in values that Hyundai give for their existing customers.

I found this 3D phone comparison site on Reddit. Pretty cool to compare the size of the new lineup to other phones. comparing the S20+ to my S10+, you can see how much more curved the display on the S10+ is compared to the S20+

Lol, checked with AT&T. No 5G near me anywhere. It may be a couple of years before I see it at my house and immediate commuting area. They have teensy bits of 5G coverage in a couple of major cities I visit maybe once every few years. My husband would benefit more as he sometimes works in areas that will have 5G.

He's not planning on getting any of the S phones or the Flip. He's waiting for the Note 20. I'm probably not getting the Note 20 if I get an S20. It will depend on how things go with the camera updates and whatever is going on with my life and budget at that time. Flat Note 20 might be hard to resist though. 😁

I have a reservation set for the Ultra, but can't decide if I am going to keep it or not. Really love my Note 10+, and the price is bugging me a little bit. But I really want the new camera as well. I think the Note 20 is pretty much going to be the Ultra with an S Pen. But I am wondering the the Fold 2 will be, spending this much I may want to wait and see what that brings, but have no idea when that will happen.

If you don’t use the S-Pen as much.. then yeah, trade in Note10+ for the Ultra to help with the price. Especially if you really interested in the camera. I plan on waiting till the Fall... seeing how they plan on curving that glass on the Note20 and the new iPhone will be out. I think the pressure is going to be on Apple... because we all know that Ultra camera is going into the Note20, we also know it’s going to reach the 7” plateau.

well im sure apple will step it up camera wise again with bigger sensors expected with 3d and TOF so im sure they will make it very good software wise. more zoom I think is what apple should look to add as it seems that is what the market is going for.

apple seem to keep leaks well hidden these days

So if it has a 5x optical zoom, is everything higher than 1x up to 5x using hybrid zoom?

So technically 2x,3x,4x won't be as good as the 5x optical lens?

And I'm not saying it will be bad, shots I've seen look good. Just making sure I understand it.

Which one would you guys trade for the S20 Ultra?

S9 plus for $300 or iPhone Pro Max for $700. I'm thinking to trade in the S9 plus while it still has some value. The Pro Max will retain a good trade in value for at least another 2 years. Unfortunately, Samsung doesn't offer the option to trade in the S10 plus.

If the next iPhone has a new antenna, I'm definitely trading the Pro Max for it.

Pencil support? Maybe. But Split Screen apps... highly doubt that. There’s already this growing issue with multitasking on the iPad, I don’t think Apple and the critics want to go down that road. But Split Screen apps along with the S-Pen is great to use on the Note10+... part of the reason why I switched over.

But all I’m looking for with the new iPhone... is a different design compared to the iPhone X. Of course, the internals will be upgraded from previous years... but I had the iPhone X for 2 years, passed up on the iPhone XS and iPhone 11.

Love how they’ve just about phased out the infinity display. Bezels seem much more even now (besides the bottom, which I’m still surprised they haven’t matched to the top).

No esim / dual sim like iphone information so i have to take that as a no. Can't even consider this then as I have more than one line and don't want to carry two phones. Guess i will wait for Apples 5G iPhone.

I think iPhones need less additions to sway people over than Samsung do imo.

You’ve just listed two major ones there.

I’d add an improved angle & landscape Face ID & more RAM.

& despite it not being an issue for me, a phasing out of the notch.

I appreciate it varies as I live and work in many places around the world, that is why I say many not all.

Similarly many forget here that unlike US where it is easy to sell Apple products there are equally many places that it is extremely difficult to sell Apple products because of Windows and Android dominance and because of restrictive practices of Apple and there pricing polices

Literally today I had 2 guys from IT and one Naval Architect almost fighting to be 1st in line when I sell my wifes S10+, if I had an IPhone I would be looking for weeks if not months unless a fellow expat wanted one or I discounted greatly

Its a simple fact that cost of ownership or depreciation is simply not the sticker price on the box. It is also true that Samsung bundles contain current and new accessories its not like by a S20 and get last years buds free, you get the new + ones. If that is not a factor for you then fine, but for many it's a real saving.

The main and fundamental difference is with Samsung their are opportunities for many to save or get greater value, for Apple most that live outside US actually pay an additional premium and in countries with no Apple stores actually pay this extra for even lessor services and forget about 14 day returns etc
This! People outside us usually dont get it

It's the same for Finland. I'd get 225€ for my S10+, so I'd need to spend "just" 1174€ extra for the Ultra. Thanks but no thanks, I'll wait for the almost inevitable price drops while contemplating whether the Ultra size is just too much for me.
Similar to how Apple neglects customers in many countries outside the US. These new phones are far too large for me. Very pleased with my S10e which I purchased in October (about 6 months after its release) at a decent price reduction. I find the up and down pricing with Samsung phones odd. It was at the price I paid for three days then went up 200 Euros and even today after yesterday's S20 reveal it is 100 Euros more than I paid. One really has to watch ads regularly to get the best deal from retailers.

Yep, I got my S10+ and Galaxy Buds for 629€ last May (so just a couple of months from the release) as Elisa was offering an extra discount and also a +100€ trade-in value, so I brought in my old S8+ and walked out with the S10+ and the Buds. Can't really complain about that deal, I have keep an eye on possible similar deals for the S20 series.

You mean with your carrier

Samsung have had dual sim far longer than Apple, only the Fold has 1 Physical and one ESim. I hope the Z-Flip will too. (Confirmed One eSIM and one Nano SIM for Flip)

I only found out recently that ESim is actually a pain as they are one time use activation so swapping phones or reset means you need a new activation. Not convenient if your second sim is from another country.

So in UK, for Galaxy S10 Plus any storage trade in price £400, Galaxy S10 any storage £350 and for Note 10 Plus 256Gb 5G / S10 5G £450 off.
