my 11 pro max was not an hour better than the Note 10+ and for damn sure not 5 lol
The battery life on my note 10+ was inconsistent. However I didn’t have it for long enough to really make a fair comparison. On a good day they were about the same. On a bad day it was several hours difference. But battery life was just too inconsistent. But I just didn’t have it for long enough to figure out what was going on and to be fair it could have just been the phone settling down. I also would have been using it more frequently because it was new.

Has anyone seen the article here on MR about Apple being kinda fussy about using Qualcom's antenna design and messing around trying to use their own that might be pretty but not work as well?

I hope that's just a rumor. I love my 11 Pro and would hate to see Apple take any steps back on the next generation just because they still have some weird sort of almost personal grudge against Qualcomm. I've been doing a lot of reading about 5G and it's pretty tricky to work with the mmWave type. Apple doesn't need to be playing games with it.

I'm glad I am not interested in upgrading my 11 Pro this year. I'd have to drive hours out of my way to play with 5G anyway. I'm glad Samsung seems to be getting along with everyone. Those of you who have 5G service and are getting an S20 series phone will have good modems and hopefully good antenna design.

I'm worried Apple is having a challenging year.
I hope this isn’t true. It’s going to be a car crash. Didn’t Apple learn anything from the last few years with intel. At least use Qualcomm’s models for a few years and work on your own in the background until it’s perfected. They clearly aren’t ready to make their own modems which is why once they saw that intel were not going to be able to make 5G modems they quickly patched things up with Qualcomm.

I don’t know what’s wrong with Apple. They make chips and they are good at that but they need to accept that there are somethings they need to let other people make for them because they are just better.

Did you use orignal chargers and cables? It does make difference .
Yes I only had the original cables and chargers at the time. To be fair it might have settled down over time.

Expert review 10/10 ♡♡♡♡♡ wow, also scroll down to see prices for each country.

An expert review that can't even get the specs right. Says the Ultra has 256/512gb storage and 8/12gb ram. Gives the selfie camera 10/10 and doesn't even talk about it.

I have no doubt it's an incredible phone but reviews like this mean jack.

No it's about 1 hour. There's no way I can get 5 hours more on screen time on the Pro Max over the S10+.

Maybe with US units but in the UK the battery life was trash on my S10 plus. Was down to 20-30% by 4pm-5pm most days

My 11 pro max could be a two day phone if I choose to not charge every night.

It’s clear the chips in UK version of Samsung devices are worse than the US

I sure as hell hope the ultra and note 20 will be better for battery life than the S10 plus was as I know the note 20 will tempt me...

I'm curious... why didn't you have it long? Was it due to the inconsistent battery life?

Can you elaborate little more? I do plan to sell iphones and buy android phones - what did you miss so much?

When I'm on Android I missing iMessage (sending full quality photos/videos), integration with my other apple devices (Apple TV's, MacBook), my Apple Watch - nothing on Android comes close to an AW in my opinion. I also missed the excellent touch latency on iPhones vs the competition, smoother scrolling on iPhone - even compared to the >60hz devices. And finally shooting video on iPhones has always been superior.

I was in the same boat, I had some issues Witt s10 plus but it was a great phone just key draw backs. When you leave iPhone it’s more than just the phone that you’re leaving
At least you have yours a good try. It was a few months. I only lasted 8 days. The annoying thing was there wasn’t anything wrong with the phone. It was a really nice phone and objectively miles better than my 11 pro max. It’s just the whole ecosystem that’s difficult to leave behind

It’s the integration with other devices like my iPads, Apple TV, Mac, AirPods and even the HomePod. Then there are things like all the notes I’ve saved in the notes app that are also readily available on my iPads and Mac. All the passwords I’ve saved in iCloud Keychain, my photos are already organised in the photos app and I can see them on all of my Apple devices via iCloud Photo Library. I know there are alternative services like google keep, Samsung pass and google photos but they all require me to do a lot of work to move things over and I really don’t fancy re-organising 27,000 pictures into albums in google photos.

Then there is also all the content I’ve purchased on iTunes over the years. Hundreds of movies and several TV shows. I don’t ever watch movies on my phone but sometimes I liked watching TV shows on there. I like knowing that I can watch any of my content on any of main devices.

Then there is the Apple Watch. I tried the Samsung Watch. It’s a good watch but I much prefer the Apple Watch.

No it was due to feeling like a fish out of water when I was away from the Apple ecosystem. Sad really.

Yeah, the Apple ecosystem. It gets us all. I‘ve still have my feet in the Apple ecosystem... I won’t allow myself to leave it completely. But when I left the iPhone behind, I had no choice to let the Apple Watch go as well. That’s probably the only thing I know I’ll miss.

But on unrelated note... are you interested in the S20? Or trying to peak to see what‘s on the other side?

Apple Watch is a massive deal breaker. Nothing compares to the Apple Watch so losing the iPhone and Apple Watch tie in together and it's an issue.

hardware it's not that far off Samsung devices too so if you can handle that plus software it's impossible to leave.

that said the ultra specs look great but until we see the reviews it's hard to compare between the two in terms of photo quality.

even with these specs I could still see the pro max being just as good but we will see....

10x zoom is good from what I have seen and we will see if apple brings out something close to this.

exciting times for tech this year

I’m interested in the Ultra. It’s the perfect phone, only thing it doesn’t have is an S-pen. However it’s an absolute beast and the techie in me wants it.

My husband had a problem with his notifications coming on Android in clumps. Some were delayed as a result. It's not an issue I had, but I only worry about texts and emails. Sometimes for me emails seemed to arrive faster on Samsung or Pixels. But he is tied into all kinds of communications apps for work and finance. So he tends to go back to iPhone. Unlike me, he will completely switch from iPhone to an Android. I think his longest running time on a single Android device was the Pixel 3XL.

He likes and carries his Note 10+ around in addition to his 11 pro Max.

Yeah notifications was awful for me with my s10 plus which was the main reason why I went back.

My biggest annoyance with the note 10 was the fact that it kept messing about with my brightness despite the fact that I had auto brightness turned off!! I hate auto brightness and have it turned off on all my devices.

Hate auto brightness too! I haven't had a problems with notifications on any of my Android phones.
With AOD...I think notifications are better than my pro max.

The notification thing is all relative. If you have two devices next to each other then you might notice that one is getting notifications quicker than another device. Even amongst my iPhone and iPads if i happen to have them next to each other the time for notifications to come in on all the devices can vary a lot.

If you need notifications the exact second they are available then iOS is your best bet. Doze tends to delay notifications, but nothing too crazy. And you can always turn off battery optimization for apps you don't want put to sleep like email apps.

Does anyone know what the best SD card is going to be for recording the 8K video? If I get the S20 with only 128GB and not a 512GB S20+ I guess I'll be hurting a little for storage if I record 8K video. I did try doing some looking around on my own and I can't be sure the cards I saw will handle 8K gracefully and work on my Samsung.

I have a card in my Note I can plop into the S20. I think it handles 4K. Lol mostly I use 1080P anyway. So I am not sweating this. I'm just wanting to know because it might come up.

Honestly I see no point in 8k recording personally. Who actually as an 8k monitor capable of displaying it? It's one for those features to brag about during a release but that nobody ever really uses. Same goes for 100x zoom.

Yeah that didn’t work, I don’t need notifications through instantly but if you are paying 1k for a phone there should be no delay. My issue was 15 notifications coming through all at once which is inexcusable really for the price you pay.
