To be expected. Its a new phone, on backorder, that had enticing trade in deals. People are trying to flip them for profit. Its not surprising and isnt a reflection on the quality of the phone.

Oh yeah like i say few times its quick money for the sellers , its got nothing to do with the quality. The sellers will pay off the phone in two years but they need cash up the front.

I think we have finally reached a point where the modern style of smartphone has reached peak size. This is the first phone I've owned where I wish it was a bit smaller. It's just a little difficult to use even thought the display is amazing.

That said, I think I'm keeping mine. No complaints besides some camera issues and the size being a bit unwieldy.

Of all the things that could cause me to return the S20+, I did not expect WeChat to be it. For some reason it just won't work. My wife (and in-laws...could be a good thing there) can't video call me because I don't get any notification from WeChat that someone is calling me. I've set it to never sleep, placed it in "excluded from memory" setting, enabled "mobile data always active" in Dev settings. No dice. I get error pop ups that say "WeChat can't connect to my WiFi network so it is now connected to mobile data." I've never seen this happen before. She's really irritated and hates Android even more now haha.

My SIM is back in my Pixel 4 XL, I don't recall this ever being an issue with that phone. If it also now doesn't work with the Pixel I may be forced (suffering, clearly) to only use an iPhone going forward. I'm all ears if anyone has experienced this issue on Android. I read that WeChat didn't play nice with Samsung phones in the past but that was years ago.

Not for profit here, some $350AUD under retail on gumtree, list price without bargaining, i would expect to get one for $500-$600 below retail.

People are buying them using a trade in and getting the accessories credit and then selling the device. They're still coming out on top by just doing some legwork. It's not like they're just buying new phones and selling them for a loss for no reason.

I'm going to downsize to the S20+ myself. I kinda had this concern when I pre-ordered. But wanted the zoom. I went by Best Buy just now and confirmed how much better the ergonomics are with the smaller S20+ would be for me. The S20+ is the same size as the Note10+ only with rounded corners.

I just took a 4k 60fps video in terrible indoor lighting and while it didn't artificially pull in more light to the sensors to miraculously bring light to rooms that were dark to the eye, it looked pretty much like what my eyes saw, and happily with very little to no noise.

Sound was good through my phone speakers. I'm going to test with my earbuds next.

At 4k 60 fps, it appears to be stuck with some sort of fixed focus mode which is quite good. It's not as artistic as tracking autofocus, but it definitely lets me see what I wanted to see.

I didn't get to call my dad today after all to check call quality. I'll try tomorrow if I get the chance.

Though, I'm still setting things up, I'm pretty sure this phone is a keeper, barring any defects showing up as I go along. As a secondary phone it is shaping up to be exactly what I wanted.

I'm actually able to use dark mode on this phone. For some reason dark mode on my iPhone 11 Pro and Note 10+ were uncomfortable to my eyes.

I got around 4 hours of screen on time with regular mode and 60hz and 1080p before I hit 40% battery and charged it back up. So I think it will take me through a regular day quite easily.

It's gorgeous and it's comfortable to hold. I can do a little bit of one handed use on it without availing myself of any modes to assist with that.

It does fit in my purse pocket with my iPhone. But I do think that pocket is asking for damage if I bump up against anything like a table edge. So I'm going to switch to a different everyday purse. I guess that would mean I could carry an Ultra.

But I am going to skip that expense this time. I can get the fps reader to work but not consistently enough or fast enough for me to commit big money to this year's model. To put it bluntly, as a housewife that has to wash things and my hands a lot, my hands are too dry and chapped for this type of fps. I've had to shut down my biometrics login options on apps and sites that otherwise would work for me on iPhone. That is frustrating.

Returning the phone over that sounds a bit dramatic don’t you think? It’s brand new, it wouldn’t be strange if a few apps find themselves in need of a quick optimization or bug squashing update.

Don't tell me you are using a case? Its huge as it is. Yeah even my Note 10+ sometimes it feels massive but the joy of the 6.8 screen is irresistible.
Yeah let’s not put a case on a $1400 phone because it adds maybe 1 mm to what is already a big device.

Relax. Someone saying that a Samsung phone is slightly uncomfortably large for them doesn’t mean they’re planning to bomb Seoul HQ.

I have a very minimal case on it. That's not the problem. The phone weighs about the same as my Pro Max and would be easier to hold of it weren't so top heavy.

Still, I'm loving this phone so far. And actually the single take mode is pretty awesome if you have kids. I messed with it a bit today and got some good pictures and videos. Only downside is they automatically add awful music to the videos. But still, it's more than a gimmick. It works pretty well.

I'm surprised. I've only had the phone for an hour but to me it actually feels smaller than the Note 10+. Probably because it's thinner.

Although I adore huge screen phones, I’ve officially stopped using them as my only phone. It finally got to be too much of a chore for me to constantly be wiggling such big devices out of tight or full pockets and fumbling one handed on the bus. Especially since they tend to be expensive, and because it’s such a horror to get scratches on those huge, pristine displays.

Last year I finally did the for me until then unthinkable and bought the NOT biggest iPhone. I got the 11 Pro hoping that the medium size would do. It didn’t. I love it for all the daily menial tasks like checking my bank account, bringing up my public transport card, answering messages etc. But it’s just too small for extended browsing, reading, gaming etc to be enjoyable. I also prefer having a big viewfinder when taking photos.

So my plan is to ditch the 11 Pro, sell my old 7 Plus and get a small 7, 8 or new SE for the daily chores that require frequent retrieval from pockets - don’t need anything fancy or new to handle all that.

And then a nice top of the line Android for all the fun stuff. Like the Ultra or Note 20 if I can afford one of those, otherwise something slightly cheaper but still biggest possible size.

So, I definitely hear you about the Ultra being possibly a bit too big. Gotta love them behemoths but personally I had to finally admit that they’re just too big to work in all situations for me.

Its not just that, overall i find it annoying. Also its not 1mm , the 4 corners will stick out and lenses, holes, sensers sometimes be blocked, also affects phone temperature if the weather is hot and.........it looks really ugly.

Also....

If we are going to buy a case for protection how come we don't cover the most expensive part of the phone which is the Screen ???

When we drop the phone there is 50% chance the phone will fall on its face smashing or cracking the the screen.

If you drop the phone hard even with a cover you might as well get rid of it because it will never be the same because of brain (internal) damage.

I guess I stand on the good side of 50%. I dropped my phones many times, it usually falls on the side or corner first.

Even the few times it landed on the display first, most good back cases have slightly raised edges on the display side, which takes in most of the impact.

Same happens with the iPhone. You’ll see it on eBay as soon as it’s released. I agree it doesn’t reflect on the quality of the phone. Even when Samsung and other android phones fall in price after a few months it doesn’t take away from the quality of the devices.

You only have to say that you prefer to not use a case. No need to rationalize it using all these random and mostly incorrect statements and generalizations.

All I meant was that it isn’t absurd to think that someone might like to protect their expensive device using a case, even if it’s a big device. There are plenty of thin cases that add quite a bit of protection without adding much bulk. Whether a case is ugly or too thick is entirely subjective.

People do it all the time here. They upgrade their contract phones with £0 upfront costs and then selll the upgrade and carry on using their old phone.
