Also....

If we are going to buy a case for protection how come we don't cover the most expensive part of the phone which is the Screen ???

When we drop the phone there is 50% chance the phone will fall on its face smashing or cracking the the screen.

If you drop the phone hard even with a cover you might as well get rid of it because it will never be the same because of brain (internal) damage.
Most cases have a very slight raised edge that protects the front from damage. I'm extremely careful with phones but things happen. Dropped my Note 10+ which landed face down onto a wood floor. Case saved it.

People are buying them using a trade in and getting the accessories credit and then selling the device. They're still coming out on top by just doing some legwork. It's not like they're just buying new phones and selling them for a loss for no reason.

Not here, people upgrade their contracts keep their old phone and flog the new one for what they can get cash.

Anybody who has had the note 10+, besides the camera, do you think the s20 ultra / + is a worthwhile upgrade (not taking into account the s pen)?

I have the note 10+ and I do think it's worth the upgrade. Disregarding the camera, which I view favorably so far:

Size and weight : I'm am a taller person, so larger phones don't bother me. Regarding physical dimensions, I don't notice a difference to the note 10 +. I also appreciate the weight, as it feels solid like the iPhone 11 pro max.

Screen: Coming from iPhone to the note,I really appreciated the notes screen. The ultra screen is even better. Visually, I don't really see how you get any better. The whole punch is barely noticeable (less so than a notch), and the curve of the screen is way less aggressive, whixh I appreciate. The refresh rate....wow. For reference I had the pixel 4 xl for a short period and didn't really notice the 90hz as a major differentiator. The 120 hz is very noticeable, and combined with the speed of the OS, it feels like the smoothest iteration of a smartphone UI yet.

Software oddities: the note 10 + is a great phone and probably the most stable and big free, for me, when compared to the pixel and iPhone. That being said I had odd little things that annoyed me, such as a laggy multitask/recent apps display (unless I used goodlock to change the animation) when using a password manager. All those issues have been fixed, and if you prefer gestures over software buttons for navigation, the ultra gestures are smoothed out and feel like the pixel /iPhone (this may be fixed on the note with an upcoming/recently released patch. Also....it only took Samsung ~ decade, but one UI is great, and really excels in novel and thoughtful ways, such as one handed mode and app caching.

Battery : all day/great. All the phones mentioned here hit that mark, and the ultra is no different even with 120hz.

It is worth noting one thing when considering my opinion, and it is that I got the note semi recently for nearly $200 less than the Samsung trade in value. So that made the ultra cheaper and all the more appealing. I am not adverse to expensive phones, until recently I upgrade and used the top end iPhone for the last 3 years. That being said, the note 10+ is a darn good phone and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

I was actually going to mention that. The gesture navigation seems more natural in the Ultra than it did the Note 10+.

Also, the Fingerprint Scanner is definitely faster.

I got mine today, don't go near the phone. Any photo with human in it is terrible, blurred, lack of detail. My old note 8 took much better photos. I returned mine 4 hours later. The technician at Samsung could not believe how bad they were and wrote a report to send to HQ in Korea.

Take a couple of portrait shots with light and low light. (Remember to have a box of tissues with you;)

WOW! Your whole AKA is based on this that is pretty extreme

Although I adore huge screen phones, I’ve officially stopped using them as my only phone. It finally got to be too much of a chore for me to constantly be wiggling such big devices out of tight or full pockets and fumbling one handed on the bus. Especially since they tend to be expensive, and because it’s such a horror to get scratches on those huge, pristine displays.

Last year I finally did the for me until then unthinkable and bought the NOT biggest iPhone. I got the 11 Pro hoping that the medium size would do. It didn’t. I love it for all the daily menial tasks like checking my bank account, bringing up my public transport card, answering messages etc. But it’s just too small for extended browsing, reading, gaming etc to be enjoyable. I also prefer having a big viewfinder when taking photos.

So my plan is to ditch the 11 Pro, sell my old 7 Plus and get a small 7, 8 or new SE for the daily chores that require frequent retrieval from pockets - don’t need anything fancy or new to handle all that.

And then a nice top of the line Android for all the fun stuff. Like the Ultra or Note 20 if I can afford one of those, otherwise something slightly cheaper but still biggest possible size.

So, I definitely hear you about the Ultra being possibly a bit too big. Gotta love them behemoths but personally I had to finally admit that they’re just too big to work in all situations for me.
If you get an Ultra i think you're going to see all portions of the scene in videos. That is so cool. Until now I literally didn't know what I'd been missing.

I just compared watching an Amazon Prime video (an episode of The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher) and I was surprised to see portions on the top, bottom, left and right of the scene were cropped out on the Note 10+ display but shown on the S20 display. I was worried I was going to miss watching video on the large expansive Note display but its actually crisper and clearer on my S20. I took great pains to ensure all the settings were identical on both phones. I guess even though the longer thinner aspect ratio on the S20 series doesn't look as generous as the shorter wider on one the Note it is much better for seeing ALL of your videos.

I'm totally loving this phone! I still have my Ultra pre-order live but will cancel it soon. I just need to make sure everything is in good working order here. If Pinky has a defect and I need to activate my other pre-order I wouldn't turn my nose up at the Ultra lol. I would prefer to have two smaller phones. But if I end up with the Ultra I will go back to backpacks.

However, I badly want to keep Pinky so I'm rooting for it to be absolutely perfect. Well except for the fps, which is hot garbage compared to Face ID...for me. I'll emphasize that once again...it does not work for ME. For most people it should be decent. Not great, but decent.

I'm now going to compare the video playback on the 11 Pro.

Edit: Sorry for all the typos. I hope I caught and fixed them all. I think the Samsung keyboard changed some of my word choices a couple of times.

You will probably be able to flog your iPhone 11 Pro for a Note20 or S20 Ultra pretty easily. I remember last year when getting my XS Max I took a little peak at Gumtree and there were people who were legitimately wanting a straight swap their Note10+ for a XS Max, lol, I was absolutely shocked, I believe it was people who were iPhone users but only qualified for the Samsung’s so they took the Samsungs and then flogged them on Gumtree to get what they ultimately wanted.

Selling an iPhone is incredibly easy, there is a lot of people willing to give up their top of the line latest and greatest Android for a previous gen iPhone

Anyone else having wifi connection issues on the S20? I posted last night how WeChat doesn't work / can't connect to wifi when someone calls me. Today I can't connect to my home or office wifi network unless I enable "auto reconnect" for the particular network. While I'm connected to the network if I uncheck that auto reconnect box, it'll kick me off of the network and I can't connect to it again at all. Also causes things to hang within that network settings screen / no response when that box is unchecked. Tried a reset of network settings, didn't help. Disabling auto reconnect totally borks my wifi connections.

Also WeChat works perfectly on my Pixel so this is a Samsung issue. Will give it 1 more update that will hopefully drop within my return window.

*Edit- even after re-enabling auto reconnect, I can't connect to the wifi network. Also turning off wifi and back on doesn't help. The only way I can connect is to forget the wifi network and redo the process / password.

How did you set up your S20? Did you restore from something? Try a factory reset and then install WeChat before adding anything else to the mix.
If that doesn't work you may have a lemon...might have a faulty modem.

I set up as new and then used Smart Switch to transfer data from my iPhone. During that process it downloaded all "matching apps" from the Play Store so everything should be fresh / clean. I will try a factory reset without Smart Switch and see if that helps. What an odd issue.

*EDIT- just did a complete wipe / factory reset and the issue is still here. I can't reconnect to the network even after re-enabling auto reconnect. I need to forget the network and then it'll work.

Yikes. I’m sorry you’re having problems with your phone. Mine seems okay with our network. We haven’t noticed any problems. I hope you’re able to get everything resolved soon.

Thank you for checking yours and commenting. Not optimistic a software update will fix mine if no one else has this issue.

My initial reaction to this phone is super positive. Probably the best Android phone I've ever used. But with that said, I haven't had the time to really try the camera but my initial hunch is that the software update is definitely needed. I did test the 30x zoom and was completely dumbfounded by the great quality of the photo. I literally took a clear picture of the coffee pot on the entire other side of the office. Single Take also seems like a good solution for moving objects as well.
