Update on playback of Amazon video (1080p) on iPhone 11 Pro and S20 set to 1080p/Natural mode is that they’re almost identical. The S20 is just a little tiny bit crisper with more detail. But the difference is subtle. However on Enhanced Video mode it pulls quite far ahead with better contrast and more saturation that looks good and not weird.

Audio depends on what video you’re watching. This show has normal crappy tv audio so it was pretty close between them. The S20 audio was more clear but less rich. iPhone 11 Pro had deeper richer sound but sounded just a little bit muffled in comparison.

They‘re ridiculously close, though. At some point I’ll test movies that have fancy audio but I don’t know when I’ll get time for that.

Oh I almost forgot. I went ahead and canceled my Ultra preorder. My husband said not to keep it active on his account. He wanted me to cancel it if I was sure I was keeping Pinky because he didn’t want to take the chance Samsung would jump the gun and send it off anyway even though neither of us has sent our Notes in, yet. He just doesn’t trust Samsung sales to do what they say they’ll do. I love the Ultra. It’s a sexy beast.

But with the Note trade in total bill for Pinky is $365. Would be $733 for the Ultra. $733 is what I will happily pay when they get a better fps!😜

I’m sort of kidding. No, I just am very happy with the S20 all around. No sense sending it back to get the extra zoom when I’d mainly use it on vacation and my husband can just hand me his Ultra anyway.

Okay the phone on standard 4G passed the "Dad Test". My dad has been complaining about how I sound on iPhones up until my iPhone XR.

The call quality is crisp and clear and i get full signal strength on the S20. My iPhone 11 Pro gets 3 out of 4 bars and occasional interference noises of some kind. My Note 10+ would sometimes get some noise, too. Unlocked Android do tend to give me near perfect call quality for some reason than the carrier branded ones.

I don't know if wifi calling and VoLTE are on or working. I can't find the settings for those.

I set up as new and then used Smart Switch to transfer data from my iPhone. During that process it downloaded all "matching apps" from the Play Store so everything should be fresh / clean. I will try a factory reset without Smart Switch and see if that helps. What an odd issue.

*EDIT- just did a complete wipe / factory reset and the issue is still here. I can't reconnect to the network even after re-enabling auto reconnect. I need to forget the network and then it'll work.
Sounds like a lemon! I would start the return process....

@GrumpyMom how is the battery on your S20?

Do you use 120hz 1080p or 60hz 1440p?
60hz 1080p and I charge frequently so its hard to say but I estimate I could get at least 8 hours of screen on time from one charge. Probably more than that. But it’s kind of early. It's clearly getting more efficient as I go along.

I tried 120 hz but it felt like it made things feel slower, maybe. Really, just by raising their touch response frequency they made this display so smooth already.

And 1440p gave me a bit of eye strain for some reason. I'll try it again another time though. I haven't been well with the constant change in weather we're getting. Everyone's complaining about headaches around here, even the young healthy hardy teenagers.

Already printed out the labels. Sucks because I lose the free Buds+ and case although I already have a Spigen one.

Really enjoying my Pixel again having not used it as my daily for the last couple months! If I reorder I will go for gray this time rather than black.

you could always keep it until the freebies have shipped?
It is defective so they might let you return it past the normal 2 week return period

My initial reaction. Haven't set it up (just skipped thru the process) or did any updates yet. Didn't even connect it to to wifi or loaded my sim inside.

So far, the only issue I see on my Ultra is auto focus takes a split second. Not all the time though, but mostly on smaller objects like cups. My S10+ and Pro Max is nearly instantaneous with focus. At the moment I don't see any major issues with the camera, but hopefully Samsung fixes the slight focus delay soon, as I can see it being a problem with taking a quick point n shoot.

Don't see any real difference with 120hz yet. Maybe after I set it up and start using it I'll notice. But for now, I can't tell if it's really smoother or placebo effect.

I thought I had canceled my Ultra pre-order but they reinstated my coupon code if I make another order. They've never done that before.

Anyway I am finding that Samsung services are being replaced by Microsoft services. Like Gallery and My Files. But I don't want Microsoft. I don't want to pay Microsoft when I'm already paying Google for similar services.

But Samsung only gives me the option to convert my existing Samsung gallery and File Folder to Microsoft. Is there a way to switch that to Google Photos and Google Drive instead?

Hey guys got my Ultra on Monday . It's been taking great picture except for when it gets darker . I'll take a picture of my daughter and she has these orange spots all over almost like she has a rash on her body. Has anyone else had this problem ?

I have a question, that telephoto lense of the ultra what brand is it?

Is Samsung using same brand on Snapdragon and Exynos ?

Telephoto lenses are rather complex than previously thought. Before we blame Samsung and S20 ultra i suggest all ultra buyers read and understand how the telephoto works, cons and problems.

I don't think updates will fix s20 ultra issues. Its all about badly calibrated lenses and poor techniques, Not software.

Yes my husband’s Ultra often shows orange blobs in any kind of zoomed picture in low light. My regular S20 at the same level of zoom so far has not.

No update will fix this. $2kAUD phone lol.

I think it's software, cause I'm not having those issues seen on that videos or other videos.

First time I tried the camera with no updates. The focus was noticeably slower than on any zoom level when taking photos. I didn't try video zooming at this point.

Post setting up my Ultra and updating it. Now point n shoot focus at 1x is just as fast as my S10+ and Pro Max. Even 4x is good as fast. But I would say 5x and up, the focus is faster than previously but still a slight delay.

Now with videos, I tried to duplicate the issue people posted, and I just don't have that issue. My home lights are bright as hell, but I'll see how the Ultra holds up in sunlight tomorrow or the next sunny day. Even at 20x, I didn't see that issue. Tried it on 1080 and 4k at 30fps and 60fps.

So far I'm impressed with the zoom feature.

BTW ... I'm not saying this is the expected update that fixes the camera. But I think Samsung did something to improve the focus so far.

Yep, can't teach people how to hold the phone properly for video.

I've had my Ultra for about 12 hours, but only been able to mess with it for a few. I love big phones, but this thing is a beast. It is obviously lighter than my 11 Pro Max, but feels heavier, I think it is the camera and the phone is top heavy, so something to get used to. Like most, the display is incredible, 120 is really really great, can't wait until I can do that at full resolution hopefully. Haven't messed much with the camera yet.

My first impressions are very good overall, but going to be hard to top my Z Flip, loving this phone way more than I should. Going to give the Ultra full run for 3 days to decide.

I really didn't notice a difference until I was scrolling through Instagram and the browser. Wow, huge difference!!! ?

But I still don't notice much of a difference scrolling through the OS UI.

Do you baby the display, or use it like you would any other phone? Just curious.
