S20 will be remembered as the unluckiest phone ever.

I believe all manufacturers are pretty badly affected. I had to phone around all my carrier’s shops in my province to find one that had an iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB, at first I was phoning around wanting Space Grey but with each phone call I realized that there was little to no stock and so I couldn’t even pick a colour. After calling about 10 of these shops I finally found 1 with a 256GB unit, it happened to be Midnight Green which was my next option after Space Grey so I jumped on it and told them to reserve it for me as I would be there within an hour. I got very lucky. If one is looking for 512GB those are completely depleted, 256GB is pretty much done, the lady at the shop I went to told me she had 2 left after I took mine and I am pretty sure she will sell those 2 this weekend. All that is left is some 64GB units spread across the country

Most carriers down here have almost no stock of some Samsung and Apple devices and they do not even know when they will get more stock. Luckily it seems they got enough Galaxy S20/20+/Ultra units for the weekend launch

No, that is totally different. Iphone 11 has been in the market for 6 months now so it took its chance to perform in the market.

With s20 , Corona virus striked almost same time with the preparation and launch of the phone, so its critical time. Its obvious from the preorder figures the extent of the disruption it caused.

Now this is where the zoom will be great at sporting events

I get you, that is a shame for Samsung.

Hilarious how I have been enjoying this sort of zoom with the P30 Pro for about a year now and did it at multiple sporting events but people are only seeing this now with the S20 Ultra

Properly because you can’t buy those devices in most regions

I agree though P30 did it first and was impressive then. Samsung have done a great job with marketing but to be fair the zoom is the only thing that has stood out to me so far. The camera looks good but wouldn’t say it’s above the comp that’s already out there.

P30 Pro is quite widely available, I believe the USA is probably one of the few markets where it is not available, but in Europe, Middle East, Asia, South America and Africa its in most if not all countries in those regions.

Yeah, I would have thought Samsung would have gone for the kill with the S20 Ultra camera, the more I read and watch video ls about it the more it seems the Zoom is its only true trump feature. One could easily be happier with the S20+.

I think cameras are so great these days it’s just hard to get massive improvements each year

Think from the sounds a few here are thinking about downgrading. Mainly from a size point of view.

I know next iPhone is going to be 6.7 and I don’t think they should be going too far above this. I don’t think a 7 inch phone is practical if we do see one

Agreed, and considering how hefty the iPhone 11 Pro Max already is, Apple have little wiggle room here, I think as you say, 6.7inch is about as far as they can go, to grow the screen any larger they’ll have to focus on reducing the notch and side bezels/borders to almost nothing.

@The Game 161 - we had a shared ceramic S10+ journey last year and I’ve just ordered the S20 Ultra 512gb on EE. I currently have an iPhone 11 Pro Max, with titanium AW and AirPods pro but the lure is there again and I am yet again bored with Apple’s stale grid layout.

I’m hoping to make the switch again. Are you not tempted?
I am also concerned about Exynos Vs Snapdragon again because last year saw a big difference between battery performance depending on the chip... any reviews comparing these yet? I do love my all day Max Pro battery life. AW stays on the charger most of the time.

Took some early morning pics from my apt terrace. The sun was partly covered by moving clouds. The last shot was the worst. He was in motion at an angle from my shot and walking pretty fast.

I'm pretty surprised at the results.

I was tempted but key areas made me say no.

Notifications issue
Ecosystem
Apple Watch- couldn’t cope without this

I would love to have it as my 2nd phone but not daily driver.

I hope battery life isn’t an issue as you can remember we last year i had all kinds of issues. Let us know how you get on with ours.

Seems US versions give far better battery life then here

Gotta say, after using FaceID and Pixels face unlock in my past 2 phones, now being stuck with the Ultras fingerprint sensor really sucks. It's not that it's bad, it's just far less convenient and reliable.
I second that! I got really spoiled with FaceUnlock and FaceID on the Pixel 4XL and iPhone 11PM.
Now anything else seems like a step backward to me.

I find it really good now. It's very quick, but the best part is they placed it perfectly. On the S10+ is was placed a little too low. I never had the Note 10, so I'm not sure if this placement is new. I'm not even going to give Samsung's face unlock a try, it completely sucked for me on previous models, and I'm sure it sucks now.

For me, SmartLock replaces FaceID.

I'd kind of like this $1,400 camera to do that for me.
I mentioned it the other day, but the camera on the Ultra gives me the feeling that it will be capable of some incredible shots that no other phone right now can make. But it will not get consistently great point and shoot photos like the Pixel or iPhone.

Its all about compromise, you can either have the more transparent face Id with a notch or the cleaner look of the more clumsy ultrasonic fps. Personally I prefer the cleaner look even if using a fingerprint scanner can be a pain sometimes.

Yep, no phone out today isn't without its compromise. I'm choosing to keep the Ultra despite not liking the fingerprint reader, top heaviness, and camera faults. Why? Because literally everything else is great.
