I havent been following this and not going to read thru 80 pages so i just want to ask. Why a S20 and not a S11?
Is this taking the place of the S11? Asking because i dont want a 6.2" phone. Too big and hoping for the 11 with a bit smaller screen size.

Received my 2nd S20+ a bit ago and it's all set up. Went with Cosmic Gray rather than Black this time and it looks so much nicer! Still have the wifi connection issues at my office, it is just how the network is set up / plays with Samsung phone I guess. I also discovered why WeChat video calls weren't going through, the app never was granted microphone access by default. That would explain the problem haha!

Also on this one I don't notice poor dark gray uniformity like I did on the first one.

I returned the original S20+ with the Buds+ to Samsung over the weekend, and they still shipped out the case that I ordered as part of the freebie / promo for my original pre-order. I figured to just return the Buds too so I don't get charged for them after the fact. Has anyone had luck getting them to re-send the Buds for free considering I had to return the original phone? I assume they will not send me the Buds+ again and I really am not bothered by that, just curious.

My S20 arrived damaged and they sent me a return label for phone , galaxy buds, and case. They said that I needed to reorder everything due to promotion. Didn't make sense and was a little frustrating. Needless to say, I sent everything back and didn't reorder.

They really need to fix that in their system. It seems ridiculously rigid and hierarchical. But they're probably a completely inflexible bureaucratic mess at this point with no hope of adjusting to logic and reason. Reminds me of AT&T.

I'm glad your second one is better and that you figured out the We Chat problem. There are indeed a myriad little settings that are so easily forgotten or overlooked. Each day I set aside a minute or two to make some adjustments to my settings. If I try to do it in one prolonged sitting it just feels a bit overwhelming.

I set up as new and didn't bring anything over from my Note or my Pixel. There was too much carrier bloat still mixed in with my Note 10+ and a few apps on my Pixel that I found I never use. I kind of relish the opportunity to start anew and try different layouts and apps. Each time I set up I try to go leaner and keep the addition of apps to a minimum.

That's why it really infuriates me to have Facebook preloaded on there, unable to be removed from precious storage space.

If they are going to charge the insane premiums that they do to increase storage then they need to let us choose what we load onto it. Unfortunately, I know FB must be paying them a fortune to be embedded in there.

It's disgusting. But at least each generation the bloat gets lighter.

Yeah I pit the S20 against my 11 Pro and they're both really good. The s20 has more acute pain points with the fingerprint sensor and the camera being a bit slower at times. And of course it can't participate in the Apple ecosystem on which I still depend. But I'm spending more of my time on it because the display is just nicer. Even though they're very close in size. Also the S20 is lighter and therefore more comfortable to use for web surfing.

I'm getting pretty close to sending back.the Ultra in favor of the Pixel 4 XL. Overall the Ultra is a better phone, no debate there. But something about the Pixel is more than the sum of it's parts. I just really enjoy the Pixel software and Google has made it work seamlessly with their services. And for half the price, I'm willing to live with the bad video recording and average battery.

This decision would be harder if the Ultra camera was lights out but it's definitely a few updates from being good. And frankly for me it's ergonomics are just bad.

I will say, if pre-orders were still happening I would probably opt for the s20 plus.

Sometimes Samsung software is almost too much, but I do enjoy it. The simplicity of stock Android is so nice though.

I might pick up a Pixel 3a just for kicks so I can still have an Android phone while keeping my SIM in my 11 Pro.

I prefer Pixel software but I think One UI is good. I have no problems with it. The Ultra is a great phone, but for me the difference in quality isnt enough for the difference in price right now.

You can still get the nice trade in credit though? Same as the pre-orders just without the freebies? Maybe try the S20+? I hear you though, despite all of its flaws the Pixel 4 XL is a great device. Good luck with whatever you decide, sucks that the Ultra didn't meet your photo needs.

Sounds like the issue is, you went with the Ultra based on the hype instead of the more sensible regular S20, perfect size and reasonable cost. Got my regular S20 coming this fri (UK release) and its gonna be my first android phone in many years. I'm finally done with iOS as my daily driver.

Hopefully will get my ultra at the weekend. I tried some in store ones in hand and don’t see what you guys are on about I can easily one handed use the ultra. I guess you got smaller hands.

im interested to see these camera issues mentioned here either way I won’t be returning it I upgrade twice a year anyway so note 20 or iPhone 12 pro will be my next upgrade of the year just a stop gap for me.

I have no interest in the regular s20 and I didn't get the Ultra because of the "hype". I got it because I enjoy big phones and I was interested in what that camera could do. If I were to stay with the s20 line I would get the plus. But nice way of working a self back pat into a post.

There's difference between using a phone for a few minutes in a store vs everyday. Hopefully you get used to the too heavy nature better than I did.

Why pixels are stuck in 2017 shape and style like s9 ?

That's your opinion. Phones are more than just one thing. They're hardware and software and that combination provides a certain user experience. I like the user experience the Pixel provides despite lacking in the hardware department. And while I like Samsung, their software lags behind Google's. I don't even think that's debatable.

Of course it's debatable :)

There is good reason Pixels are cheaper other than the obvious hardware differences

Unlike other premium phones that are feature rich Google pixel "less is more" appeals to some

Pixels whilst is less feature packed OS facilitates faster upgrades (and they are the source) in some respects it often lags behind features added by others more customized OS

This does not detract from it's appeal to some but by no means is it cut and dry for many

Google's latest phone look like s9+ , not that it matter much but bit surprised the design from p2 and p3 still there.

The Ultra has been better for me with one handed use vs the Pro Max. The biggest factors are, the ability to bring down the notification/toggle panel by swiping down from anywhere on the home screen. The gestures are better for either hand cause you can swipe back from either side. The settings menu is designed with one handed use in mind. The default keyboard has numbers on top.
