Apparently MFT has been removed on the S21 and all future Samsung phones. MFT is what let Samsung Pay work on magnetic strip card readers, even ones that didnt support Samsung Pay.

Bummer.

I ended up with the 128GB and I'm wondering if I should have upped it to the 512GB. Those are the only 2 offered by Tmobile and the 256GB unlocked is the same price as the T-Mobile 512GB so it doesnt make sense to go unlocked. But $170 jump from the 128GB is no small amount.
It’s crazy. You have to read very carefully to make sure of the pricing and the options.

I double checked my order which is how I caught the huge change from $700 to $375 on my S20 trade in value just by virtue of choosing brown over black. Needless to say I hastily went to select black!

I’ve always wanted to own a brown phone, but not for a huge premium! Yikes!

I chose 512 GB for my 12 Pro Max because I thought I’d mess around shooting RAW a lot. And so of course I haven’t yet done so. In a non pandemic year I would. But i am firmly stuck at home snapping mostly cat photos. So far I’ve used 33 GB’s. And that’s with me taking lots of 4K video clips and even 30 minute videos. Of course I have all the Cloud backup stuff turned on. There’s a part of me that would love to have everything always stored locally in full size, in addition to stored on the cloud. But then even 512 GB would not be sufficient.

I could make 8k videos on my current S20 but haven’t. So I don’t think I’ll be doing that on the S21 Ultra, either. So I went with 256 GB instead of 512. That should leave me plenty of space for the 4K videos I will make. 128 GB has suited me fine all the years when it was the only option. (Along with the SD storage).

I am pretty disappointed there’s no option for the SD card. I will have to move everything off of my SD card, then. I’m not looking forward to that.

I got 256GB on pro max as thought with HDR video I would need the space and I still have 177GB left with iCloud I do find that’s enough and I could get away with 128GB

Looks like a good phone but i think my Note 10+ is still good for another cycle at least.
The S10 series was great, too. My friend's daughter has an s10e still going strong even with the obligatory cracked display almost all kids seem to end up with. I thought everything after 8 was really good.

I liked my s10+ well enough except for the proximity sensor problem it had. That seemed specific to that particular phone and a few others. But not for all s10 phones out there. It was just luck of the draw.

My s20 is fine and really there's no reason to let it go, except the fps does not work for me. I have switched all my accounts over to those long high security passwords so I can't just type it in from my addled middle aged memory. So when I can't use Samsung Pass to authenticate me via biometrics, it's such a major pain in the tail.

Yet I was able to get into MacRumors using my finger print reader. I don't know why it worked this time, but not when I really needed it a few minutes ago to get into my Samsung account. It drives me crazy trying to conduct any sort of business on this S20.

The camera is really good but it's not great. It's not exciting in the way 10x zoom craziness is exciting. Basically this phone's major selling point for me was the gorgeous pink color and small size. I will miss it. But I already came super close to trading it in for a mere $125 or some crazy low-ball amount for an iPhone mini. To get $700 in trade for it now on a phone I do find exciting in terms of features and that does have a newer model fps, yeah I'm gonna jump on that opportunity. And since my 12 mini excels at being the small phone I need when I need a small phone, I want to go back to a big Samsung phone. I seem to flip back and forth year to year in terms of what I want.

I do want to lock down my privacy more, though. I just read through all the teeny tiny print and submitted a request to Samsung to opt out of selling my data or some subset of my data. Which was why I was trying to log into my account just now and failing on this miserable POS fps.

It's a damn fine phone for actual voice calls. I do value Samsung phones for voice calls (providing the proximity sensor lets the phone know I'm on a call)

I will be taking the Sim out of my 12 Pro Max and putting it into the S21 Ultra when I get it. I can still use the Max on wifi. It will be nice to call my dad on a clear connection again. My iPhone modems work great for data, but there's always some weird interference noises I rarely ever get on my Samsung phones during voice calls.

I just hope the new fps sensor works for me. I was really close to giving up on Samsung when initial rumors pointed to no upgrades to that feature. I'm glad those early rumors were wrong.

Also iPhones tend to use more storage than android phones. App sizes are much bigger. However if I remember right OS size is a little bigger on Android.

If I were getting a new iPhone I would probably go 256GB because of the app size, but I think on Android 128GB with some cloud storage is enough.

Fantastic phone but call quality, speaker and youtube better on s9+.
Hush, don't make me miss that phone again! It was my favorite Samsung phone. I do regret not keeping it 2 years.

So far I'm pretty excited about my pre-order. I'm even excited to be getting a black phone again. I've had so many bright and crazy colors the last few years. I did think the Phantom Silver looks nice but it was not presented as an option when I went to order. Which is just as well. My 12 Pro Max is gold and often in a clear glitter case! I think I'll go more restrained for the Samsung.

I forgot to mention that I got the violet ear beans. So I will get at least a touch of color that way. I still also have my red ear buds from last year.

It's nice having more wireless ear buds. I am still embarrassingly dependent on wired ones.

update: found there was a glitch. I reordered and was able to get brown.

Bummer.

MFT seems less common and replaced with tap to pay.

Didn't know that but if that's the case gonna keep my iPhone 11 max for at least 2 more years so let me get that apple watch and settle down.

If sammy is gonna do apple they don't have the programs or usability apple has.

Congrats hope its me next.
Lol I already canceled my preorder!
But that was because I found out something must have gone wonky on their order site when it would not let me get $700 on my S20 when ordering brown. I was checking their site and saw I could order the brown S20 Ultra and still get $700 for my s20. I was so excited. Then confused because I also like the black phone. Lol.

This time I didn’t order the flip cover case with S Pen. I got the clear case instead since my $200 credit covered almost all of it. I’ll get that another time, maybe. Since I’m getting a brown phone for the first time in my life I wanted to be able to see it. And it’s the one with the kickstand. I did want a kickstand.
