By then you’ll be ready for a apple foldable phone. ????

Wouldn't mess with a apple foldable phone, I don't think it would be good like Samsung since they're gonna hold back things.

I strongly prefer android for basic use but the mishaps are strong... 12 to 8 gigs, no micro sd, no mst

Seems they're taking away alot and trying to push in the plastic build (i'm guessing more durable phones and probably less cases) and just a lighter in the hand phone.

It sounds good, if you've had a XS, 11 PRO MAX or 12 PRO MAX you know that weight ain't easy with a case, a light phone with a flat screen that's easy to use is a god send.

Seems Sammy is hell bent on improving user experience and less focusing on the nerds...

Yeah the reduced RAM is weird, since even cheaper devices now can have that much RAM.

The non ultra S21 feels more like S21 FE and S21 FE Plus.

I don't mind plastic build as it makes the device lighter while still having large battery. As long as the price is adjusted (unlike the Note 20). With proper treatment, plastic can feel as nice as glass, while retaining better durability. I'll take plastic any day if that means Samsung can put the cost into better other components.

But how much will they price it? $599? Unlikely Imo. And how will they cut the cost? The regular S21 already uses plastic back.
well they seemed to say this would be a regular thing. maybe they do it to replace the note like with a few different features with S pen support. agree they do need to do something different but I think they like releasing devices every 3 months or so.

I think they are trying to remove areas to try and reduce cost as much as possible and make a clear differences from the ultra models.

it's easy to see well they are removing stuff but these are only annoying when you are used to having them. if you have a regular S20 or S20 plus I can't see why you would upgrade to have worse specs but I think those who do upgrade each year are likely to pick the ultra anyway as most people don't find a need to upgrade each year

the issue I have with the S21 lines it's hard to improve these devices each year. Samsung's best phone the ultra is so packed with features what can they really add each year? there's is basically nothing they can do right now aside from improved cameras but cameras are great on all flagships so really it's hard to justify these days

iPhones we know they will get some of these features in the 1-2 years so for these pro line of phones new tech is coming but when samsung already has all this stuff it loses it's reason to upgrade for many people.

Pre-ordered the smallest S21 from Samsung UK mainly due to the smaller form factor and possibility of going caseless (after ages) due to the plastic back and flat screen.

Traded in the wife's Note10 and got some additional discounts plus the free buds live and smart tag. Decent deal. The wife will have my S20+. Makes us both 5G now.

Did consider the S21 Ultra but for some reason it doesn’t appeal to me as much as the benefits of the smaller version. However, I will be definitely looking out for the Note 21 Ultra.

If they are keeping the Note lineup, that should be enough to counter the iPhone releases just like previous years. The S20 FE was more of a quick (and smart) decision during a pandemic after releasing such expensive lineup with the regular S20. The S21 normalizes this with the reduced price and similar plastic material. Will see what will happen. The FE/lite versions of these phones are quite interesting.

10x Optical is a standout. Apple need to catchup here.

Though, according to MKBHD, it’s digital zoom in between 3x & 10x, which is also disappointing.

Plenty camera test from many youtubers and photographers to enjoy.

& what’s with the hypocrites at Samsung - trolling Apple for excluding a charging brick in yet another ‘egg on face advertisement’ after they themselves copied that very same move ??‍♂️

I believe that goes for any smartphone manufacturer, but I give credit to those companies like Samsung and Microsoft. Samsung with its viable foldable line while Microsoft has its Duo. And, I really hope the Duo succeeds... although, I'm skeptical for developer support.

But I think tech enthusiasts will upgrade annually, while most will keep phones for 2 or more years due to the stagnation of lacking meaningful features.

Then that’s something you do let’s say the s9 and go forward but doing that now makes little sense. You can lessen the ram and lessen the quality of the phone, that makes little sense. The management is wrong here.

The s20 is better than the s21 easily but they’re banking on better overall user experience such as more durable, less weight and no curves but the specs aren’t as good and how do we know how one ui will work two years down the line from now on a phone with only 8 gigs of ram? What if Samsung has a new feature that only the ultra can get since it has the memory to run properly?

You see where I’m going here? The s21 seems closely to a apple iPhone on certain models can’t get certain updates due to lack of power.

But

The ultra isn’t exactly portable like the regular 21 so it seems like multiple business models here and I knew this was the case when the note 20 came out that was a test run into Samsung’s real plans.

Agh, this video had me questioning the fact I canceled my order on the black and got the brown. The black S21 Ultra looks so amazing here.

I hope to see the brown Samsung somewhere but it's likely I'll have it in hand before I see it in reviews and videos.
It's interesting that Samsung instituted a made-to-order scheme for these colors that they felt were a more risky choice for them. I think that's a good idea and keeps them from getting stuck with a high inventory of colors that don't sell as well as they anticipated. I'd love to see them continue to do that and eradicate regional differences in color offerings.

I also like your pleasant posts. I don’t even know why you called yourself GrumpyMom.

As for the video I just like the guy and his cat and comic presentations.

I think there is no reason to be so uptight with tech and gadgets. They are just “toys” to keep our life journeys going at the end of the day whichever you chose.

Trading in my S20 FE to Tmobile to get the S21 for free. I'm sure it's a bit better than the FE, maybe? I went with the white.
Im not sure its going to be free. I know it says that but it also says something about fees and it has the Pixel 4a series listed in there in the section for up to $800 for a free phone. I only paid $350 for my 4a so i dont see how im going to get $800 credit.
Who knows but it sounded fishy to me.

It's legit. I've done it many times before. They give you the trade in value of the phone ($350 for the FE in my case) as a lump sum credit to your account, then the rest $450 broken up in credits over 24 months. So free but broken up like that. I had to pay tax today only.

OK, so still not free. Thats $18.75 per month for two years and you cant upgrade til thats over. We got our S9's that way and i tried to upgrade but couldnt because it was on a promotion deal that wasnt over. I mean thats cheaper yes but probably not the route ill go.
Might be a good thing for my Wife to do though. She dont care about upgrading unless the phone is broken (glass cracked , something not working right, etc) She still has her S9.

Lol, I've tried to give up coffee a few times due to acid reflux. It made me grumpy! So I gave up acid reflux instead! Well, not quite, but I made other changes that help.
I totally agree there's no reason to be uptight or fight about gadgets. These definitely are bright little bubbles of fun in life. They should not be the focus or catalyst of ill will toward one another. Though I suspect some people actually enjoy and feel energized by some verbal sparring over tech sometimes, so I just sit back with some popcorn and watch the fur fly!

Kicking back and obsessing over specs and colors and features helps recharge MY batteries and keeps me grounded so I can handle the poo the monkeys of life fling at me. 🤪

I will miss my pink S20 but I have to admit I am so excited about the new s21 Ultra. I admit to having had some envy over the zoom on my husband’s s20 Ultra. Unfortunately we never really got to go out and play much with that super zoom feazure. I know much scorn has been heaped on it but really I was kind of impressed with it the few times I got to try it. I don't want or need 100x zoom very often, but a decent 10x optical zoom would be most welcome out in the country with all our critters to photograph.

Accessories review

Thanks for posting this review. I really like this guy's reviews. I used my $200 credit toward these ear beans and was hoping to hear exactly what he said about them. Lol I know these buds aren't bean shaped like the other ones Samsung made, but I like the idea of calling them that.

I got some Airpods Pro for Christmas and still enjoy my red Samsung earbuds from last year so I guess I could have spent the credits on something else. But I couldn't resist when I found out about the water resistance.

Also...purple. I am going to admire how pretty they are.
