A lot of aussies are having issues with the exynos 2100. Can’t believe Samsung held a event for such a disappointing chip.
are they? I have only seen a few who have had issues but I think most of the great reviews are those on the SD888.

overheating and battery issues are one thing but to have worse photos and worse video isn't acceptable given how good the SD888 shots look.

hoping this is fixed with an update

Really? Inconsistent battery life, camera overheating, software update didn’t fix the overheating issue fully, not everyone is having issues, but a fair few are, some have sold or returned the phone already.

I wouldn’t say it’s selling like hot cakes either lol.

A update rolled out already in oz, didn’t seem to fully fix the overheating message when using the camera, seems like you’re right 888 is the better chip again. Maybe you won’t experience them issues.

In case the phone doesn’t work out for you, how’s the return policy over there?
Pretty good no issues for most part. I've not ordered it yet was going to but might wait for some more camera reviews on the exynos 2100. Would only be a 2nd device not my daily.

Well a lot of us have had issues with the iPhone 12 series, too. The 12 Pro is the first big ticket item my oldest has bought with her own wages and the experience has not been perfect so far: iOS bugs galore, camera focusing problems close up not seen on her iPhone XR, random overheating requiring a reset, and text notification bugs. The random overheating was also a problem in a regular 12 I returned. All of these are fairly common complaints on the forum.

I love my 12 Pro Max and my 12 mini but I can’t get true black on the displays. Black turns to green blotches. That’s become a known issue. I kept my phone past the return date thinking it was a software issue that would be solved in an update. It wasn’t.

It doesn’t bother me for most uses. But when I watched a movie I once mistook the blotches in a night scene for an entire cityscape! I’m overall pleased with the display for reading so I just ignore the issue. I’ve had enough of these devices to know perfection is rare and even when I find it (Samsung S9+) I’m going to upgrade for key spec improvements anyway, so I’ve learned not to make a big deal out of it.

I also personally felt the 12 Pro was poorly balanced and an ergonomic nightmare so I returned it. But I’m not questioning why Apple held an event for what I consider a problem plagued release. Honestly every generation has its reported issues.

Look you’re absolutely right the Exynos apparently has some issues for some unfortunate customers. There’s every valid reason for an honest civil discussion of that. But let’s not pretend problems are unheard of in consumer tech.

Focusing is an issue up close on 12 pro max for me compared to a little further away so every phone/company can have issues as you say

Wow...have you read the iPhone forum here on MR? There are people having those exact same issues about iPhones.
I guess it goes to show that no matter what phone or manufacturer there are some that have issues!

Steering away from the same guy hell bent on defending Tim Cook's honor, I absolutely have to recommend the Samsung Trio wireless charger. It can charge your phone, watch and buds all at the same time. Even has an LED indicator when they're full charged. It has some heft to it, which I appreciate. Didn't overheat at all. Just a fantastic product!

I am a big Apple fan but the notion that Apple can't do anything wrong really irritates me. They are a huge company with a big turn over - that's their priority.

It looks quite good, how loud is it? I have the wireless duo and was too noisy in the bedroom so had to have it downstairs. guessing the cooling is improved from the previous duo one?

I have the old duo charger and got the new duo charger with my preorder credits. Its noticeably quieter. They've either improved the fan inside or are using a heatsink or something of that nature instead of the fans. Because I dont hear it at all.

Definitely an improvement over previous Samsung exynos models but it’s still behind the snapdragon, certainly in battery life in my experience in comparison to some of the reviews/ experiences on here

Yeah I hate this. Most reviewers are in the US who took advantage of free review units or lenient return policy, and they have Snapdragon. Most people around the world don't have that luxury, and will have to make the tough decision spending a lot of money for the exynos version. This is why a lot of hatred on previous Exynos chips. It's one thing if Samsung made the Exynos version cheaper, but no, they are sometimes as or more expensive than the US SD version.

Seems to be this is the conclusion. Exynos 2100 is definitely better than Exynos 990, but that's a low bar to begin with. The fact that the Snapdragon version remains to be the better version is annoying as Samsung is not selling the Exynos version for less.

Man, I've really been lurking over this S21 Ultra. Beautiful phone, outstanding screen, great cameras. I'm rocking the iPhone 12 and have been with iPhones for the last 4 or 5 years, but prior to that had some Android experiences as well with cheaper phones and I'm familiar with the OS, and I really like how polished it is now.

BUT. And this is my major BUT. This is the reason why I haven't touched Samsung in any way EVER. The fact that these animals produce 2 different models with 2 different processors, that are actually COMPLETELY different in terms of performance... I really can't. It makes me sick to my stomach lol. Say what you will about Apple but at least I'm buying the same product anywhere in the world therefore having the same experience.

Exynos is a piece of garbage. If you think opposite you're not familiar with it. Specially in the long run.

Lol...well. Originally had a glitch so ordered black, the only option at the time. Then found out a day later I could order brown, which was my first choice at the time. Ordered brown 256 GB. Changed my mind about accessories. Canceled and this time said what the heck, ordered brown 512 GB. Found a mistake in my order and ordered it again. Found out possibly could not return a custom color (not true for America) and this last time, ordered black, but had decided I preferred black slightly anyway. So...yeah I sort of did. Except when I didn’t. It’s the thought that counts? 🤣
Lol I see someone is angry about this post. Uh, why anger? No money changed hands. No products were sent or returned. It’s strictly electronic transactions that took place in a fully automated system and I have an order finally in place that I’m satisfied with.

The first order was what it was due to a glitch on Samsung’s site anyway, refusing to let me select my first choice at the time. That’s how it often is on preorders with their apps. There are a lot of hangups, glitches and issues and lack of clarity on certain policies and it can also be easy to accidentally overlook an option you want and to select something you don’t want. I kept accidentally ending up with black earbuds in my cart in addition to purple, for example, despite trying my best to be careful.

Well go ahead and be angry. I just think it’s very strange. I didn’t say I disliked brown or blue or titanium. Quite the contrary.

Actually a few years ago those of us in Snapdragon regions were so frustrated and angry we couldn’t get Exynos models! I think that was back in the S7 days. Exynos was the better performer and battery star then if I remember correctly.

But with that exception, I completely understand and share your frustration with the situation. They should run their own internal testing and choose the best processor for their consumers. Of course we know why they use Exynos where they think they can get away with it. But as potential customers like yourself show by abstaining from a purchase, they’re shooting themselves in the foot. Still, I do think they sincerely thought they produced a comparable product this time. Exynos did produce better results in one test I saw but the gpu it is paired with apparently fell down on the job.
