Steering away from the same guy hell bent on defending Tim Cook's honor, I absolutely have to recommend the Samsung Trio wireless charger. It can charge your phone, watch and buds all at the same time. Even has an LED indicator when they're full charged. It has some heft to it, which I appreciate. Didn't overheat at all. Just a fantastic product!
I second this. I grabbed the trio with my Samsung credit, and I love it. I replaced the wireless charger I keep on my nightstand, with the trio. It's been so convenient to have everything right there.

It looks quite good, how loud is it? I have the wireless duo and was too noisy in the bedroom so had to have it downstairs. guessing the cooling is improved from the previous duo one?
It doesn't make any noise at all. I've had it a week now, and I have yet to hear it once. I highly recommend it.

Actually a few years ago those of us in Snapdragon regions were so frustrated and angry we couldn’t get Exynos models! I think that was back in the S7 days. Exynos was the better performer and battery star then if I remember correctly.

But with that exception, I completely understand and share your frustration with the situation. They should run their own internal testing and choose the best processor for their consumers. Of course we know why they use Exynos where they think they can get away with it. But as potential customers like yourself show by abstaining from a purchase, they’re shooting themselves in the foot. Still, I do think they sincerely thought they produced a comparable product this time. Exynos did produce better results in one test I saw but the gpu it is paired with apparently fell down on the job.
You're right. I remember those days vividly. Those of us in the US had Exynos envy. The Snapdragon performed just fine then, but the Exynos did better. There's something about human nature that makes us want to look at what's on someone else's plate, even if what's on our plate is good.

I love my 12 Pro Max and my 12 mini but I can’t get true black on the displays. Black turns to green blotches. That’s become a known issue. I kept my phone past the return date thinking it was a software issue that would be solved in an update. It wasn’t.
Apple know about the issue, promised a fix, god knows when though lol

Oh I missed that update. Thanks, glad to hear it. I’m wondering how they’re going to fix it though. I don’t think it’s an easy fix. Likely to break something else! What I like about this green blotches display is that I haven’t seen it turn dark scenes into a blobby indiscernible mess the way my Pixel phones did. My Samsungs to a much lesser degree have a tiny bit of that going on. At least with the green blotches, I can still see what’s going on in a very darkened scene in a dark room. Same for my camera view. I can barely see the display on my Pixel 2 and 3 XL if the screen needs to display dark colors and I am in a dark room. It’s like looking at an oil slick floating on the surface of a mud puddle.

Some samsung phones and the 11 pro series had the same green tint issue last year, both were fixed with a software update. 😊

If Samsung sold the factually less performing Exynos version for less, people probably wouldn't mind. Less performance, cheaper price, made sense.

But no, Samsung decided to make the lesser Exynos version as or even more premium than the Snapdragon version. That's Imo what irks most of us in exynos countries. Not only we get the lesser version, we have to pay more for it.

the worse processor is one thing but if it's true that photo quality and video are worse on the exynos model then it is a big deal. not sure if this is the case but maybe that SD888 image processing is better optimised than the exynos. maybe it could be a software update thing and won't be an issue. alot of the amazing camera reviews do seem to be from SD models but many too early to tell.

I really enjoy using Samsung phones but it's getting a little tiresome for me now.

Sorry if this has been answered already but I didn't see it in the thread. I'm interested in the Ultra (though I suppose it might be the same for all of them) - for those who have it in hand, how much storage is used by the OS? 128 has always been more than enough for me on iPhones (50 apps installed, music is streamed on Spotify, no gaming) but I imagine things take up a different amount of space on Samsung phones.

Thanks,

Doesn't seem to be any real difference in battery performance. If anything, Exynos comes out ever so slightly ahead. This year, there really does seem there's no difference in the two chips.

I have no idea. But there's quite a few posts at r/Samsung about ads. Also, a notch and ads aren't the same thing--a notch isn't begging you to buy something. It's appalling that there is even one ad on a device that's that expensive.
Ads inside an optional app is one thing (heck I didn't even know it was there on my phone besides in Samsung Pay...that's how out of the way it is). But ads inside the actual UI is another. I have to agree with you. This is appalling, and Apple needs to do better. On a device as expensive as an iPhone, there's no reason you should have to look at ads when you're doing something as simple as going into your settings.

I get it that Exynos regions are upset they get an inferior chip each year. But the question really shouldn't be, is it as good as the qualcomm. It should be, does it's performance meet expectations for every day use. We all know Apples chips are insanely good. On paper they crush the latest snapdragon chips. But in practical use, you don't notice a difference.

The problem is that the difference sometimes is not only perfectly noticeable but also hard to ignore. The previous Exynos generation had major battery drain whenever the signal was below average and also the photos were worse thanks to weaker ISP. But still we were charged the same or sometimes more than those who got the proper chip with the phone like it should be. Many also made their purchase decisions based on reviews done with the good chip, only to pay the same or more for something that can be a very different product especially if you hit the weak spots (i.e. don't live right next to a cell tower). If that's not deceitful, I don't know what is.

Mine has 23GB taken up for system. I can't remember what it was brand new though. So it might be less out of the box.

Currently my system is taking up about 50gb. I'm not sure what it started at, but that is where it currently is.

I agree that last years version struggled to provide flagship level performance and I would have been pissed too. My comment was more geared towards the new Exynos. From everything Ive read battery and performance are on par with the Snapdragon. And if its lagging behind its not noticeably worse unless compared in tests. However, if the overheating issue becomes widespread that would change things.

If I had to guess, the overheating issue is probably present on more phones than people think, but it happens so rarely that not much will come of it. Usually the people that are reporting overheating are playing very intensive games or, more likely, are recording high resolution video for extended periods of time. I know 4K recording has led to iPhone overheating and it did to me on my Pixel 5 as well.

My email from Samsung says my phone and two of my 3 cases are arriving tomorrow. But FedEx says Monday. I guess FedEx has the final word. Sigh.

Oh boy I got in so much mischief last night. I was still up late and my husband was asleep. I was finishing up chores and noticed the big half moon. I suddenly wanted to try to take photos of the big half moon with my husband’s S21 Ultra. It was on the charging stand on his night stand. All I had to do was swipe it and go. But he was at that point in his sleep cycle where he was easy to wake. He never wakes when I am moving around on my side of the bed. But the fact there was motion on his side must have set off some internal alarm. So I woke the poor guy even though I was quiet. He was fine with me taking the phone.

I had trouble getting a picture though the window glass. (I got weird refractive images of the moon that were actually kind of cool in their own right). So I had to go outside. I didn’t want to go back to the bedroom and risk waking my husband again so I just went out in my pajamas and I also had to wear his boots, because mine were in the garage and every door in this house is massively noisy. At least the door to the back deck isn’t too bad. I didn’t bother with a coat because I was already overly warm from running around doing my final chores and stealing cellphones.

So I was outside after midnight wearing pajamas and giant men’s boots while standing in a foot of snow. A feral cat came up to keep me company and get fed. For which I was glad, because there were some ungodly noises coming from the fields beyond my fence. I know for a fact it was foxes, but the sound is spine-chilling anyway and I just had to ignore it all, so I could try to get moon photos.

The photos I got were too bright but surprisingly steady. I realize I’m going to need to use a tripod and probably pro mode to do it right. I can’t just look out the window and run out and expect a snapshot to look good. But still, with 100x zoom I got photos I never would have imagined from a phone camera. So that was pretty cool. However, I need to get better at this because a huge bright white half circular blob is nothing to brag about.

I think my husband will be thrilled the most when my own phone finally gets here.😆 He’s been remarkably generous. I’m surprised he wasn’t grumpy when I woke him. But I’ve noticed it’s almost impossible to get mad at someone wearing fuzzy pajamas. 🥶

I've gotten some decent ones with the 100x. The 30x has yielded some interesting ones as well.
