Whilst waiting for Samsung to arrange my return I've been playing with the phone.
February update mentions camera improvements.
Is that Samsung UK? How did you contact them to arrange the return? Did they want all gifts etc packed up in original boxes? Are they using DPD?

Apologies for the numerous questions.

I'm still experimenting with the camera. Currently I have motion photos on. I never noticed they now include sound like Apple motion photos always did. I hadn't used that in a long time. It wasn't something I bothered with on Android. I'm pleasantly surprised with the quality.

With motion photos on in low light I get some weird artifacts but each motion frame looks fine. I'm talking about really dim light. I'm shocked I'm getting any photos at all. Even the iPhone is struggling to avoid motion blur and get details. I think in a contest between them now it's truly finally close enough for my indoor photos. The ability to instantly turn motion photos into gifs is cool. The camera software has so much versatility built in.

I had a weird issue with the fingerprint scanner. It was working fantastic even with the faux screen protector. Then I set the phone down to eat dinner. Then when I tried unlocking it, no luck. I had to re register my prints. I think my hands were too dry after washing my hands so many times with various chores. I couldn't even register new prints until Iicked my finger. Gross.

Well this plastic isn't meant to be a permanent screen protector. I'm just surprised it worked so great before and then stopped.

My phone was also sluggish and the camera also took a long while to come up. My husband had me reboot it. I would guess it was doing a lot of things in the background. I probably should have set it up as new and brought things over via the cloud instead of the cable transfer.

It's chomping through battery right now but I'm not even trying to manage power consumption.

So far it's ran cool. It's a snapdragon USA model.
so are you happy enough with moving objects with your pets and kids? as I hear shutter lag is still there or is it improved?

Is there anyone from the UK that knows if you can return a custom colour? i.e the Phantom Brown? when the S21 Ultra was up for pre-order, i remember someone in the forum saying that you couldn't return a custom colour from Samsung. I've been browsing Samsungs and there is no mention of not being able too, in fact at the top of the page it says 28 days to return.

I can't imagine it would be any different. It's your right to return a product within the marketed return period by UK law.

That was me. When pre-orders initially went live there was a disclaimer saying customer colours couldn’t be returned. However, it has since been removed and I have also confirmed with their CS that customer colours can be returned as per the normal return process.

I'll need to test more with regular photos in more normal light. So far on motion photos I've not noticed a lag. Sometimes there is motion blur but on the lighting conditions I had there's a bit on my iPhone as well.

Today is a heavy chore day for me so I don't expect to be able to do much but surf the net and continue setup when taking a break. Thursday and Friday I hope to be able to test everything. 😁

My vision is adjusting to the pwm. I'm not noticing dizziness or aches. On my iPhone mini, which actually holds my main Sim and is the one attached to my Apple Watch, within a few minutes I feel punched in the eyes when using that display. I value that phone as it is fantastic for taking with me to go sledding. I can't fit the phablets into the pockets of my snow clothes. It's strictly for on the go connectivity. But there's no way it could be my only phone. Ouch!

Anyway, so far I'm not having the same issues with the pwm on my Samsung. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't. However, I notice nothing at all on my S20 display, that display is pure ease. That's how I know there is some more pwm impact for me on the S21 Ultra display. In order of comfort and ability to easily focus: s20 > 12 Pro Max > s21 Ultra

FPS sensor is still hit or miss but I will put a proper screen protector on later this week after I give the place a good cleaning so there's less dust to deal with. I was surprised it worked at all with the one we are supposed to remove straight away!

Lol I would still have it now (as a 2nd phone) if it wasn’t exynos 990. Great phone apart from that
exactly the same here! I missed it when I sent my Note 20 Ultra back, it’s the reason why I was hoping Samsung would make a Note 21 Ultra.

Basically I can't find fault with it! The battery life is night and day to last years exynos 990. Really impressed with it all.
Sounds like a rather flawless device. likely got everything you need but there's no unlock key for that ecosystem to leave with lol

Well there is if you sell it all.
haha which is an expensive game getting your money back on everything. I learnt that the hard way. If only I had decided to just get android phone as a 2nd phone from the start it would have all been avoided. you live and learn ha

I know I will be tempted by The S21 Ultra and have been for a while but staying strong for now.
