Like seeing the size comparison. What color did you order? Wish it had a flat screen. Also wish they would follow apple and offer smaller footprint with equal specs and camera.
I'm not a fan of curved screens either but for me I can't consider another phone without the Google call screener. The new Samsungs do look nice.

I ended up ordering the white one. But after seeing some of the unboxing videos with the matte black...I am having second thoughts lol
I wish it had a flat screen as well!

Yeah I get a LOT of spam calls on the number that’s in my Android phones. I used the call screener this morning on my Pixel 6 Pro. Which is probably why I will end up running the S22 Ultra on Wi-Fi like I do my s21 Ultra.

I came so close to going with the white one. It is such a standout next to the other colors on all the group photos and videos I’ve seen. I did enter it a few times during my failed attempts. That’s how close it was. In the end I decided to go for green to go with my mint green iPhone 11. And since I photograph kids and animals I didn’t want the phone to stand out too much. I can always use the white silicone case with strap I got when I do want it to look crisp and stand out.

I am really a bit surprised and dismayed there are navy colored cases but no green ones to match the green phone. They came out with burgundy cases but no green.

I don’t know for absolute certain what color I ordered. It doesn’t show up on my order at all. It only shows as a 512 GB s22 Ultra. I’m going to assume it is the green I finally entered.

I got the shock of my life when I finally got the system to take me to checkout and I saw the total was several thousand dollars! It turned out somehow my orders that I thought I’d made separately after killing the hanging app all got saved and I had three phones and accessories on order.

I had to painstakingly delete everything from my cart and make one last effort to order. And when I found out a couple of cases and the 45 watt charger got deleted and I lost out on the credits, rather than go back and try again and risk losing my S View cover case, I just shook it off and went through with the order.

I’m really disappointed I couldn’t get their white/silver rugged case. It’s one of my favorite that Samsung makes.

Just played with the S22 Ultra at Best Buy. I REALLY like it.

Some takeaways:

Screen is really bright. It has an "extra brightness" toggle in the Display settings that makes it so bright for indoor use I had to turn it down. I bet it will be fantastic for outdoor use.

Burgundy is a really nice color. The top of the phone is chromed which is already starting to scratch and get smudged but the matte back in burgundy is fantastic. It's darker and better than mystic bronze.

The S-Pen is incredible. It feels so refined I can't overstate how good the software on it is now. They've basically perfected it, and I miss it.

I didn't try the speakers.

Camera looks good, honestly not mind blowing just from opening the app and looking at it but there is no doubt these will be some of the very best photos of the year from any smartphone.

Software feels tight on this phone and very customizable. They've finally struck the right balance between core functionality being smooth and having features / customization without feeling too gimmicky.

As much as I loved it, I don't think it will pry me away from my Fold 2 since the aspect ratio for web is that much better a little more squared off. But the latest Note, I mean S22 Ultra is definitely my second choice!

Great thanks! Could you tell if the curve on the display is the same as the Note 20 Ultra? I loved that curved display, my S21 Ultra has a curve but not as much as on the Note.

I'm going to hold off on the Samsung S22. I'm still on the Fold 2 but that phone is so unique. No normal phone comes close to it. I really hope Samsung makes the outer screen on the Fold 4 more usable. Will probably go for the Fold 4.

I can't compare it to the Note 20 Ultra since I haven't used one in so long if ever. I'm personally a fan of the curved edges and the S22 Ultra nails it so perfectly that I forgot to even mention it. Hop over to Best Buy if you can and see for yourself. The display on this phone gets a perfect 10 from me.

The Note 20 Ultra and S22 Ultra look identical. Saw it at Bestbuy today and the their employee said it's exactly the same but he's upgrading anyway from his N20U (disappointed there isn't an micro SD slot he said). I saw the S22 and that's the one I am tempted to trade my 12 mini for. It's the same size as my work iPhone 13 Pro but I do miss having a smaller Android phone (I traded my N20U for the Fold 3).

Hahaha..same thing happened to me! It kept all those orders that timed out and said my cart was empty. Only to keep each one when their systems came back from the heavy pre-order load.

The S22 phones look great, especially the Ultra. I'm no longer in the market for slab phones, but the camera improvements in the Utra look to be worth the upgrade. In the meantime, I couldn't resist that beast of a tablet. Picked up the S8 Ultra. Canadian price are horrible, but at least there are some freebies. $1470 after taxes. With Keyboard Cover and Buds2 as freebies.

A couple of software things I really like from Samsung with the S22:

- Making Google Messages the default messaging app in the US. This will help make RCS more of a standard thing.

- Adding a wallet app. Apple wallet is so much better than anything on the android side right now. Gpay is a mess visually and organizationally.
Hmm... so, there's no longer Samsung Messages on Galaxy devices?

As much as I loved it, I don't think it will pry me away from my Fold 2 since the aspect ratio for web is that much better a little more squared off. But the latest Note, I mean S22 Ultra is definitely my second choice!
Yeah, I agree. I've been following all the news and thoughts regarding the S22 Ultra. If the Fold didn't exist that would easily be the phone, I'll buy.

I keep an iPad… that’s my way of being part of the Apple ecosystem. I have an Apple TV along with AirPod Max.

Oh goodness! It was quite a moment for you to see that, I’m sure.

I’ve still got a promised date of February 25th here in USA. Have the dates started slipping yet?

Correct. Now it's just Google Messages but themed to look like a Samsung app.

I think they had to do that to avoid consumer issues, cause Samsung Message isn't compatible with Android Wear(Galaxy Watch 4).

Maybe. I thought I read it was something Google insisted on when forming their partnership with Samsung. It’s been this way on the European versions of Samsung phones for a year or so now.

Google knows messaging is a huge weak point and they have an iMessage competitor in Google Messages. But it’ll only take off if it’s the default app on a majority of android phones similar to iMessage being default on iPhones. Samsung skinning their version was probably a concession made so that Samsung could maintain a design aesthetic.

Ehhh.. not entirely sure about that. I didn’t have a problem using Samsung Messages with GW4… only reason why I switched from Samsung Messages to Google Message is that it finally got updated for tablet support (two column layout).

But I think it has to do with @Awesomesince86 had mention… allowing less confusion to support RCS going forward.

You'll get message notifications, but you can't use the message app on the watch unless you use Google messages. On previous Galaxy (Tizen) watches, it was the opposite.

Very well could the the main reason. But I think Samsung starting to enforce streamline compatibility within it's products had a big hand in it too.

I left iPhone in 2012, well before any real "lock in" of the ecosystem even really existed. The biggest sore spot since leaving is no iMessage, which is far superior to SMS. I don't miss iMessage since I never had it, but it's easy to see why it would deter people from leaving.

I'm still a Mac person, but truth be told my Z Fold 2 replaced my MacBook Pro 95% of the time, especially with a fold-out keyboard accessory and stand. I still use an older Mac Pro with a big screen for heavier lifting that requires a proper workstation but the Z Fold has replaced my need for a MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad. That's why I'm such a proponent of it... how many devices on the market can pull that off? Apple wants me to own 3 devices when 1 can replace at least 2 of them, or 3 in my case. It really depends on your computing needs.

I think many people here have both. And those who actually does switch around probably simply don't use any platform specific services/apps, and just use the phone for text/calls/camera/browsing/socialmedia, thus it almost doesn't matter what phone you have at the moment.
