You can see from my pic above I have both devices and then some. It's definitely not a huge upgrade for someone who's not a fanatic. If I wasn't such a Note fan I'd likely return it. Super solid device but it's hard to say it's more than a marginal upgrade to the S21U . S21U definitely feels better in hand (subjective I know) and in my opinion it's the best looking phone ever built.

I know its not huge upgrade from S21U but that's not the point.

I get it. I'm just saying it's not like they are trashing the device. Many are going to love it but many that had the S21U are probably going to be disappointed as well. Most devices now are iterative upgrades to an already great device. We have reached the point that there are no mind blowing upgrades other than perhaps foldable devices. Honestly holding this S22 ultra right now it really doesn't feel much different than my Note 10+ years ago. It's just not surprising to me that some will feel underwhelmed.

Very well said but i wouldn't burn $1000+ if i know i won't like the device. We all knew from rumours and tips what S22U is going too look like so i was bit surprised how quickly he made up his mind without even using the device for 24 hours ?

Of course everyone is entitled to their opinions but at least provide a valid reason why so that other buyers benefit from the post.

I'm disappointed in the S View Cover Case. It's really nice looking but the view window is just a rectangular hole in the cover. So there's no protection there for that part of the display. It's so close to being exactly what I had wanted, that's why my disappointment is a bit acute. I'd sort of counted on this case being my main case and freeing me from using a screen protector. Now, not so much.

I've got several more cases to try soon.

I think he was more affected by the feel of the phones in hand than just the anesthetics. That happened to me with the iPhone 12 Pro. There was something about how it balanced in my hand that made me realize it wasn't for me. I sent it back and tried other 12's that year. Sometimes you just really need to hold and use a phone to find out it's not what you were hoping for.

The s22 Ultra is just wide enough it's going to affect some people less favorably than the more ergonomically contoured s21 Ultra.

Oh wow I’m loving the white silicone case with the bright green and white strap! The case is so form fitting that it looks a lot like the white s22 Ultra! The strap is comfortable and very helpful in giving me a comfortable way to hold the big rectangular slab.

Does anyone know if in the UK the carrier devices still have specific firmware? On my last Samsung phone (note 8) there was specific firmware for each carrier and I seem to remember this was needed to get VoLTE. Is that still the same? I hear that Samsung are much better at updating the software nowadays but I remember the carrier branded firmware always lagged significantly and not all bug fix updates were even released.

So, what is your daily driver? Or do you switch it up all the time? Curious…
13 pro max has my main sim mainly due to my apple watch. S22 ultra has my 2nd sim in it. Fold 3 is my tablet really so no sim in that now as I put the sim into the ultra

The silicone Samsung cases are the best so far.

I'm digging this phone ...it's super slick ...fast action ...I just wished it had my Pixel call screening and assistant ...then it would be perfect in my eyes lol
You don't realize how valuable the Pixel call screening is until the moment you pop your sim into another phone. P6P will stay in my rotation for that reason alone. It may be the best overall device out. Only issue for me is the battery life and the Tensor has some major throttling when playing games like COD Mobile.

No matter what type of phone you buy nowadays. When you upgrade every year your not going to find much difference. I upgrade with Apple every year and find this to be true. Why I upgrade ever year, I keep asking myself this question. I have a problem, lol! My iPhone 13 pro is a great phone.
My last Samsung was the S10+, which I just recently sold to a co-worker, so I want another Samsung. Now what am I going to do with my Pixel 6. I guess I will have to sell it, the fingerprint never wants to work, so I am always typing in 6 digit password.

Well said. I need to fix my addiction and save myself some money and not buy every flagship every year. Honestly one could probably go two years and not miss out on anything. Hopefully I can keep this S22U and Pixel 6 Pro well into next year and skip the iphone this year. The only thing I really have my eye on is the Z Fold4 at the moment.

Exactly very valuable.. especially that I have so many calls coming in that might be work related on my phone's... Call holding... And I'm always talking into the phone for text dictation...I don't have issues with battery since I don't play games but I will go thru battery with AA ,.every phone chews up battery with AA for me ..

Welcome to our problem 101 haha ..I'm proud of myself that I'm still holding iphone 12 pro ...we shall see on iPhone 14 ...

Recently I was trying to get a friend to upgrade his S7 for the newer Galaxy phones ..they were giving him $400 credit on Verizon for it which I thought was great since he upgrades after good usage ...

I could see you replacing the Fold 3 when the Tab S8 Ultra comes around given they both run OneUI and they both serve you as tablets.

I think that iPhone is going to be a beaut. As much as I like Android, specifically Galaxy devices... iPhone 14 will pique my interest with that peel shape camera cut out (hopefully see a radical change for iOS 16 though).

As soon as flagships reached the 1k mark with the iPhone X announcement... I was done upgrading every year. I went from the iPhone X... to switching to Note 10+ when I didn't see any compelling reason to upgrade to the iPhone XS and 11. I wanted something different and Galaxy devices fulfilled that.

Maybe but I do like the fold due to how nice it’s to handle on the sofa when I don’t want a bigger tablet.

the tough one is my iPad. I have the 12.9 iPad Pro and ordered the 14.6 ultra. The 14.6 ultra will be used keyboard only. So I think it’s going to be Redundant having the 12.9 pro and 14.6 ultra. Maybe if I still want the iPad which I do lol is to get the smaller 11 inch model instead

Really liking the camera so far. No great subjects to get a pic of so far due to this icy weather in Texas but what few I've taken look to be on par with the P6P and 13PM

I just wanted to take a picture of ice 😂 We don't get that here too often.

Yeah I'm forcing myself to be more strategic about upgrades especially now that I'm "following" the progress of 3 manufacturers: Apple, Samsung and Google.

My issues with Apple displays that caused me to backtrack from iPhone 13 Pro to iPhone 11 made me realize Apple actually changes the feel of its "experience" the least. Meaning in terms of how I use iOS on my phone, I really can't feel a difference going back to iPhone 11 from the current generation. Even going back to the iPhone 11 camera wasn't the hardship I expected. The spell has been broken for me on iPhone. I know they're going to be gorgeous, but I'll enjoy looking at the one my husband gets.

From what I can see of Pixel 7 rumors, the changes will be modest. Even if they turn out to be profound, most of the experience of owning a Pixel is in the software. I was actually using my Pixel 2 last year and may revive it for fun again sometime. It never felt stale to me. So holding on until Pixel 8 makes sense. But I'll see where I'm at when Pixel 7 actually is announced. The addiction is unfortunately strong in me. 😉

I'm also in a weird place with my iPhone 11 and my Pixel 6 Pro because of sentiment. My iPhone 11 is the phone I had my last ever words with my dad on and my Pixel 6 Pro is the last phone we tested call quality together. Lol The man could be a jerk sometimes, but regardless, I was a Daddy's girl and he is the one who instilled this love of technology in me, so that means trading in these phones isn't going to happen. That's a financial impact as well and makes a difference in upgrading timing.

Samsung is my playground. I've got this cool s22 Ultra and they're doing exciting things with foldable phones. My husband is trying to get me excited about the Fold like he is. It's not probable, but it is possible I would get a Fold or Flip phone this year just for the fun of it.

I'm just doubtful I'll have the free time to have that fun. I'm going to have a hard few months settling a very unwilling mother into senior living. And not just any mother, but a mom who is still mad at me for "sassing back" to her in 1983! 🤣

Yeah, I recall you buying the 11 inch M1 at first. But I bit the bullet and bought that Magic Keyboard… bought it at a discount off OfferUp. So I use a mount/dock along with my Keychron keyboard when at the desk… and I use the Magic Keyboard when away from my desk.

Definitely icy weather in Texas… I’m out in the Fort Worth/Arlington area.
