Honestly I thought Samsung was compositing moon photos myself a couple of months ago. It didn’t bother me to think that.

But I am happier to know it’s true computational photography at work, instead, because I think that’s just a better way overall to accomplish this.

I hope they can or already are doing something similar with popular landmarks like the Eiffel Tower. Anything to get better travel photos that are still truly of the subject. I don’t count computational photography done well as cheating. Done poorly, it does look heavy handed and fake. But more and more it’s being done better.

You’d be surprised lol, non-techies eat it up!

Listen, I just wanted to post straight to the point. I was curious about the whole thing since there was another smartphone (Oppo? Huawei?) that was “caught” putting an actual texture map on the moon AR-style a while ago. I was curious if Samsung was doing the same thing but it wasn’t.

No worries lol, I don’t want to get into flame wars about Samsung vs Apple

I already have enough PTSD from Sega Genesis vs SNES and N64 vs PlayStation 😖
Lol between the two of us my husband and I bought the Sega Genesis AND the SNES and the N64 and the PlayStation. He’d get N64 and SNES for me and I got him the others. We played video games on dates and after we got married. We’d save up for games. It was cheaper than going out and one game could last us a long time.

We’re doing that again now with PlayStation 5. He has health issues now and work is never ending so it’s hard to go anywhere and Covid and other viruses are everywhere. I’m busy and tired. It’s fun to game again but my reflexes are sooooo rusty!

Samsung's wonderful customer service. Not. They didn't send me the LTE version like I asked. And also won't give me the same promo or deal I got on this one. And I'd have to wait weeks for a replacement after my credits get credited back. Oh well. I'm stuck with the wifi only one now. It's a really nice watch though.

Your post is a little confusing.

You said they didn't send the LTE version watch I am assuming since you didn't specify what at first. You said you asked? What does that mean?

Did you order an LTE watch and have a receipt?

Did you get a free watch as part of the pre order promotion?

If you have a receipt then I am pretty sure they would honor you getting what you ordered.

If you "asked" them to send an LTE version but you actually ordered a wifi version or the promotion only offered a wifi version and you asked after the fact to get LTE I don't think they could.

Everything is set by your original online order and the only way to change it would be to cancel the original order and reorder. Most companies online order system is like this.

So I am rather confused by your post.

The rep put the order together and all I had to do was pay by the link he sent me. Everything else was right except no LTE. I listed it all to him and some how he missed the LTE part. I already talked to two reps and both said I cant get that deal any longer. I got the watch for $242 with tax before my credits. Can't do that now when I checked. And they refuse to fix their mistake on the order. Said send it back you'll get a refund in a couple of weeks once all credits are applied. Said whatever deals at that time you'll get. Not the special one I got. Oh well.

Yeah, I have been in the same situation before. It really sucks.

The inflexibility in resolving an order after the fact is especially infuriating. I do think the representatives are limited as to what they can do.

I am sorry for your experience.

What are your thoughts on Samsung’s eye comfort shield? I turned it on and didn’t notice anything because it wasn’t any warmer really. I then forgot about it until I was wondering why my solid black wallpaper looked like it was lighting up every pixel on an AMOLED screen. Switched it back off and all the pixels went back off (which I am not sure is the power-saving trick it used to be, but an old habit). Night shift on iOS seems to keep black as black and is warmer in other colors. I am now playing with the warmth settings on my S23 since it is 3 in the morning and I can’t fall back asleep (yay maintenance insomnia!). Just wondering what you all have set up for night viewing or blue light blocking or whatever.

Just for fun, I just downloaded Nova and integrated Sesame Search with a double tap. It's like Spotlight Search on steroids!

I’ve been experimenting with my settings. On my S22 Ultra I definitely use it and I go to Eye Comfort Shield, Switch On, between the Adaptive and Custom Options I chose Custom, set it very warm, but not extreme, and the schedule is set Sunset to Sunrise. (You can also very easily set a custom schedule for it to turn on and off).

And that’s worked fantastically for me on the S22 Ultra.

The S23 Ultra display for me is a little different and I have it set On, Adaptive

But I have also messed with Vivid Mode, too.

I still have my S22 Ultra display which is the display my nervous system is the most compatible with out of ALL of my phones, even better than LCD iPhones!

So that’s the phone I use most often at night. Though I can and have used my S23 Ultra and my iPhone 14 Pro Max at night too. I prefer Samsung though because it’s a lighter phone and hurts less if I nod off and drop the phone on my face. 🤣

I just turn on the * extra dim * option when reading at night with the lights off. Otherwise, I don't use night shift or comfort shield.

No updates to speak of on my stolen phone situation. My husband has been unfortunately buried in horrible working conditions this week.

He’s been generous enough with his paltry free time to help me with absurdly bad troubles with my mother and her care home situation.

I sure hope you get a good resolution.

I am hopeful that everything will work out in the end!

I also hope things work out with the troubles you are having with the assisted living and your Mom.

Sounds like you both are under a lot of stress but it is good you both are helping each other. Sounds like you got a good husband there!

Take a moment to catch your breath every once in a while.

Take care yourself and tell your husband to do the same!

I am rooting for the best outcome possible on all fronts!

Thank you. The Samsung situation is no longer even on our minds much.

My husband managed to secure part of the day off to help me take my mom in to urgent care tomorrow, because her mobility is suddenly reduced as of last week. I can’t help her from my car into a wheelchair on my own. I used to lift and carry my mother-in-law easily in 2018-2019 but my joints have suffered too much inflammation since then.

My mom has got several concerning issues suddenly coming to a head at the same time, yet they seem unrelated. We can no longer wait for medical administrators to get their acts together so we can do the simple act of taking her to a doctor.

Her insurance won’t let us switch from the doctor in her old town an hour away unless we go through some hoops we haven’t had a chance to work through yet. The earliest that doctor was willing to see her was late next month anyway. And my mom is too miserable to wait that long and couldn’t possibly endure an hour ride.

I’ve been trying for months to get her switched to the in-house doctors I was told existed, but I got nothing but a runaround when I tried to get the paperwork to do that initiated. Yesterday my husband spoke to people who gave him the impression there are no in house doctors! I’m stunned. I’m confused. I’m going to have to get to the bottom of what the heck is going on there once and for all and that includes an appalling breakdown in housekeeping.

But finally everything came together well enough we can at least do this for her, see what’s most urgently ailing her and continue to work on getting better permanent doctor care options in place.

I had felt like I’m spinning my wheels in mud the last couple of months and not seeing her often enough or solving her problems fast enough. But today she was very clear headed and she assured me she knew my husband and I were doing our best and she appreciated it. This is a really lovely side of her I honestly didn’t see much of growing up, but see more often now, so I feel this time with her is a gift.

I’m still watching scary movies and monster movies and natural disaster movies. I try to stay in the PG-13 lane so I don’t get grossed out too bad or scared silly. I switch among my 3 big phones. Because of how my days are full of chores and talking to people, I can’t watch a movie all in one sitting. I watch a bit here and there and usually finish by the end of the day or the next day.

I honestly can’t pick an absolute favorite anymore among them when it comes to watching movies. The Dynamic Island doesn’t distract me on the iPhone too much but there was one time I mistook it for a bear in a scene set in a forest.🤣

The little bit of curved edges on the S22 Ultra don’t bother me much either. On the S23 Ultra they’re not even really noticeable. The iPhone 14 Pro Max and the S23 Ultra both do audio so well. I guess sometimes I like the option of seeing some movies in Vivid mode on the S23 Ultra.

But there’s a weird issue I had a couple of times on the S23 Ultra where scenes looked choppy on streaming on Amazon Prime. I didn’t see that on the S22 Ultra or the 14 Pro Max.

I’m going to see if the latest update fixes that. I haven’t really figured out how to troubleshoot it.

Talk about how I have to watch movies in bits and pieces…this post is one I started when the sun was still up before dinner. It’s now heading towards 10:30. We are busy with proms, college admissions, tests, papers that are due. School trips to prepare for. I have to do some sewing on a prom dress. We bought a ripped one to save $200 and I’m fixing it. If my old coworkers could see me now. I used to fix shirt cuffs that had lost buttons with my stapler! 🤣

Now I have to shoot a cat. With insulin.

I've had this phone for three weeks now and I don't miss my iPhone at all.

Also, I absolutely love Eye Comfort Shield. I have mine on automatic and it works just as well as Apple's True Tone, which is always on on my iPhone (13 Pro Max) and my MacBook.

Samsung knocked it out of the park.
