My battery seems the same after the update.. I've been a little bit busy the last couple of days so it's been using a lot of standby but nothing different than before the update

I think you almost just have to treat Google Photos as a great backup app that has some great search features but use your stock app for the every day use.
I prefer the stock app because I can create albums and organize photos easier than Google Photos. The app is more organized and I can create folders for photos I took on certain trips. With Onedrive it even syncs up my albums to my Fold 4 and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra similar to how iPhone and iPads mirror their albums. Google photos is great for backups but seems too cluttered for me to use as the main gallery app.

yeah and I'd be ok with that except for reasons beyond my understanding, it'll only sync with onedrive personal not onedrive business :( complete pain

I got the update but haven’t been using my phone since to see if there’s any difference. I had to take yesterday to put a beloved cat to sleep. It was painful to do but we had an incredible decade with her. She had been feral until just a few months ago, so we feel blessed to have been able to give her a loving peaceful goodbye, instead of her dying somewhere outside alone. And then I spent the rest of the day to take care of my mom. Today I’m back to doing seamstress stuff for prom. I’m not going to be on phones much at all today except for breakfast and lunch breaks.

I’ve actually been struggling with iPhone battery drain. My 14 Pro Max thus far hasn’t been able to keep up with my S23 Ultra. But I do use iMessage a lot so maybe that’s it? I also use Google Messages on my S23 Ultra with my husband but that’s maybe only 30% of my messaging use.

It might be the Etsy app. I have been sourcing prom accessories on Etsy. I don’t have the Etsy app on android because my account is one of those Apple ID ones. And I pay primarily via Apple Pay. I do have regret being set up like that because it does lock me into the ecosystem. But realistically am I likely to leave the ecosystem entirely?

I think I’m going to be straddling the line between Android and Apple worlds for more years to come. What I AM worried about is Apple losing focus on what has been their core business. Oof I think I just made a mom joke…Apple…core. 😝. Anyway, when I log on to the main rumor site a lot of the time I find myself just shaking my head at the rumor news these days.

Samsung is interesting. They have this whole ecosystem of appliances i theoretically could be plugged into via my Samsung phones. The problem is, while we do own Samsung appliances, we never spring for the cost of the internet connected ones. It’s too much money and for what? I am not yet sold on the internet of things concept.

What I need is for Samsung pay to be secure and as ubiquitous as Apple Pay is becoming. Or for Google Pay to do that. I don’t necessarily want to become dependent on another brand-dependent ecosystem.

Lol, getting back to the S23 Ultra, which is after all the subject at hand, I do hope the next iteration will have a flat display. I was trying to show my mom preliminary pictures of the prom dresses the other moms and I were working on. Her old arthritic hands couldn’t avoid accidental touches on the curved glass Ultra display, though I do have it set to reduce accidental touches. I had to switch to my 14 Pro Max and hand her that. She gets some accidental touches on the 14 Pro Max, too, but not nearly as bad as on the Ultra.

Aesthetically though, I am finally happy with the curvature on the S23 Ultra display. It’s no longer an eyesore to me with edge glare.

I’ve got OneDrive. I’ve been too much of a nervous Nellie to really dig into it. So that’s good to hear.

At the moment for me it's both work great, the ip14pm seems more buggy each day but it still "just works" mainly.... apple pay everywhere, face unlock even for bank apps.

Meanwhile when I think I've decided to stick on the 14pm, I pick up the s23ultra and immediately get a little buzz out of how much fun it all is. The options everywhere etc.

And on it goes...

Finally got around to hooking up Android Auto in my car today.

I was surprised that I got the CoolWalk update right off the bat. I have read that with the staggered rollout, some people still having gotten it. I guess since I still haven't gotten the April update yet, at least I got something. :)

Also I have read that some people using wireless AA still had to initially use the cable to get it hooked up wired first before they could do wireless. I didn't have to do that, I was able to hook it up to wireless without any issues without having to use a cable first.

So far so good with the phone. I do need to get a watch though to replace my Apple Watch. I will probably get the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, but I still want to give the phone until the end of my return period to make sure I am going to keep it before investing in another watch.
Oh, I am so envious. I sometimes drive a massive extended GM truck, but mostly drive a little old econobox. Both are just old enough they don’t have CarPlay or Android Auto. I stick my phone into the cup holder and that’s how I navigate! In the econobox I listen to one single FM station (though it does have a CD Player.). And I can plug my phones in via a dongle to the Aux jack. 🤣 Primitive! But it’s not worth the bother of doing that. And there’s no display whatsoever.

My truck does have Bluetooth so I could connect that way but I don’t because it’s so buggy. I have satellite radio. There’s a navigation display but it’s awful. I do better with my Apple Watch guiding me.

My late father did leave behind a new model car with modern features, but my mom wants that to go to the kids and I am fine with that.

At some point I want to trade the truck in for a smaller SUV with modern amenities. But it’s just been too darned handy having a huge truck. The kids will want access to it as well.

Oh well I can’t complain too much. At least now I have power windows and power door locks!

I am finally donating my 30 year old car this year. It can still be driven, but not safely among the maniacs around here. So it’s just taking up space that could be put to better use.

Yeah that’s what’s worrying me about Apple, so many bugs. And when you read about their personnel rumors and other rumors that make it sound like they are a bit haphazard and never ready with delivering anything according to their rumored timetables, it definitely makes me worried about relying too much on their ecosystem.

I’ve had some serious difficulties with emails. And now with texts. Connectivity issues. And on and on. I’m still loving my 14 Pro Max…really, it’s the best iPhone I’ve had in years. Even with my pwm sensitivity, I use it enough to feel that way about it. So I haven’t lost my taste for Apple products. I’m just cautious.

Same here - I think it is a condition of the business setup.
I can share my OneDrive items between my work-laptop and work-phone (ThinkPad & OnePlus 10 Pro)only.
On my other devices I can see both OneDrive clouds but can only sync personal drive.

Anyone else having battery drain since the last update? I haven't noticed any apps that are causing it. Just overall draining faster.
Mine actually has been much worse the past few days. Standby drain has been worse. Died on me while out to dinner yesterday evening and had to switch my sim over to my Pixel so that I had a way for my son to contact me to pick him up when his music lesson was over 😬.

Took this one of Fin the other day as he's come in via the woods with a small thorn in his lip; so wanted to see how it was healing:

The detail is superb and if you zoom in; it's amazing how long it stays clear & not pixelated for! View attachment 2188882
Details like that can really help with vet consultations, too. Not all vets will communicate via emails or texts but fortunately our new vet does. It’s so helpful!

I think what we are going to do is get a console upgrade on my truck. Because the truck is in great shape despite it constantly getting recall notices  that have to get addressed. We have no more car payments and my husband wants to remain that way.

I’d love to do that on my little economy car which is a 15 year old (I think) Subaru Legacy sedan. Despite its age my dad took incredible care of it and got it fixed up before giving it to me and it has low mileage. So I’m keeping it hopefully for another 10 years at least. At best I can get backup cameras installed on it.

We’d like to keep these conventional vehicles going as long as possible because someday the electric cars may end up being mandated and I suppose we will have to go through the expense of switching over then.

Oof. Sorry to hear that. It really sounds more like my iPhone. I’m still not sure about my S23 Ultra. It seems normal so far. I hope you find out what’s going on soon.

Going back to the battery; mines an absolute monster and hardly uses battery at all... It might drain 1-2% overnight and that's it; it's as good, if not better than the 14 Pro Max IMO
This is my experince as well. Even after the April update my S23U is a beast on battery.

My battery seems to have normalized a bit since my post, which is nice. I don't know if it's just how I use mine or what, but I still haven't once gotten 10+ hours SOT. I'm usually between 8 and 9 which is still great for an Android phone. Having once owed the iPhone 13 Pro Max had me spoiled when it came to battery.
