I finally ported my S23U to T-Mobile after testing the network for a few months ... consistently better around my home area than Verizon...I feel like Vzw is slipping a bit ...from my experiences last few years ...
I actually went back to ATT from TMO. As much as I loved TMO and it was better in most areas, the last few weeks I had barely been getting a signal in my office and several missed calls that went straight to voicemail.

This is the biggest thing with the notifications for me. So much more convenient with Android. Just slide the tray down, do what you need, and slide the tray back up. So much more quick, easy, and convenient.

it must just be me :/ on both ios and android I slide the notification list open and then if I click any notification they all go to the app.... what am I missing?

I hear ya …I’ve not tried ATT since maybe 20 yrs ago …Verizon for my WFH has been horrible with static or lost calls …I know how it feels and depending areas can be frustrating

The slide up from middle to see older notifications on IP I think only works from the lock screen, unless there is a toggle in settings I have missed :)

The swipe down from top is always available on my Fold4 even inside apps until I clear the notifications. This means there is a consistent flow for viewing notifications and not having to jump back or out

Yes but I find on my IP14P for example - The 2 factor notification is there on the AOD but soon as unlocked it disappeared and is not seen on the swipe up to see older notifications so I have to resend the code which is as laggy as hell then I get 2 of them

My Fold4 just works every time and are organized
I’ve had 2FA notifications go to my watch seemingly instead of my iPhone before. It was weird. I’m not sure what happened then.

Gotta give some credit to Samsung. Called and placed my claim this morning and they are sending me a replacement. They said 3-5 business days which is fine since my phone is functional. Costed $99 but it's worth it when it comes to trade in time. Just hoping I don't get sent a different color or a device that doesn't work.

Well I guess the S23 Ultra is a keeper. :)

My 14 days return period is up Thursday I think, and I am going to keep it. I am really enjoying it so far. Although I do prefer the lock screen notifications on the iPhone better. On the S23U, how do you get the screen to light up when you get a notification? I like to glance over when I get one and don't always want to have to wake up the phone.

I bought a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, which I just got set up today, So far I am liking that also. But one gripe I have, is that when you use GooglePay on the watch to pay for something, after the transaction goes through, your card still stays active on the watch and you have to remember to click out of it. Apple does it the correct way. On the Apple Watch, after your transaction goes through, the Apple Watch exits out of Apple Pay automatically. I learned that the hard way today. I was at Costco, paid for my stuff, and when I got back to my car, I noticed my card was still on the the watch screen when I looked.

But still the implementation is better on iPhone and still different as the iPhone's AOD notifications stay lit on screen enabling one to read and take note of them at anytime.

I'm still using the iPhone 12 Pro so I don't really have anything else to compare it to but it gets the job done for me you can also make it last a little bit longer

On my watch 5 pro when I make a payment using Google wallet it returns to the home screen after the blue tick shows a successful payment, just as Apple pay does.

Does it go back to the home screen immediately or was there a delay? My card stayed on the screen until I clicked out of it. I wonder why that is.

@Bkdodger

Thanks for the suggestion. However I prefer the detailed pop-ups for when I am using the screen I like the more detail.

Getting my replacement device today. I did a ton of backing up on One Drive yesterday. Any other thoughts on things to do to back up my phone? I'm probably going to start new and not do Smart Switch since it seemed to affect battery the last time, but at least having data backed up that I can restore like messages, phone logs will be important.

I do a physical backup to an SSD (Sandisk Extreme 1TB).
As a test I did a restore from that and backed up not only data but also settings.
Basically everything.

yeah exactly what I'm finding most difficult in the transition from iphone to s23u. I'm so used to just glancing at the iphone screen to see the notifications

Until you start actioning the notifications then this becomes useless as its not always readily available unlike Android notifications

Given many have smartwatches and prefer not to have msg content easily readable to all I see little advantage to Iphone AOD implementation

Well for myself, I love the battery widgets. I can check my AW battery by just glancing at my iPhone on AOD, same with my APPs. Also able to glance at the current weather. This also eliminates the need to use up a complication on my AW face, for the battery.

When it comes to notifications on AOD, I have the privacy setting enabled. But at least the notifications are text labeled and icon big enough to make out. On Android (in my case Samsung), there's no text label and the icons are small. Sometimes I struggle to make out certain icons, especially ones I don't get notified from frequently.

So I do think the iPhone AOD is more productive. But one thing I love about Samsung phones, is that AOD is customizable. I wish there were more available features/widgets on Samsung's AOD, and I wish iPhone AOD was more than just the lock screen.

Sunbird alpha testing is here. If you signed up to be a part of Sunbird you should be getting an email.

You need a discord account. I am not a regular user of Discord so I might not get picked but I now have a discord account and will be testing the alpha if allowed.

Sunbird is a iMessages app for Android that makes it so you don't need to run a server on a Mac and can send and receive iMessages on your Android device.

I am pretty excited about this as it would allow Android phone users to take full advantage of the Apple ecosystem at least texting wise on all their Apple devices.

I wanted to try Blue bubbles but having to set up a server on a Mac running 24/7 was not something I wanted to do.

If I get picked I will let everyone know and how it works on my s23 ultra.

it's accessible from any home screen by swiping down from the top... not in an app I guess, dunno if androids is

it sits on my desk or my bedside cabinet.... an email comes in, I glance and think nah nothing to that, another one comes in and I can see enough of a preview on the aod to say yikes better attend to that. Same for any other notification.

That's why it's useful to me

right now my Iphone AOD looks like:-
time
date
weather -- news
notification stack showing previews of recent emails and other things

android looks like
time
date
icons cloud, ring, ring, ring, and an icon saying +11

to me the former is way more useful on the AOD
