I’m similar to yourself, I’ve decided that i’m sticking with my iPhone. I’ve sold my second S23 Ultra for the price I paid for it, to a friend. I just don’t get on with Android long term.

The 10x zoom is awesome, but it’s just not a long term reason to keep with Samsung. Yesterday apps I were using crashed back to the Home Screen not once, or twice but a few times, i had to reset my S23 Ultra. It’s little things like that, things I’ve never had with my iPhone.

Also I noticed that when taking pictures of moving children or pets, the S23 Ultra pictures result in a blurry mess. My iPhone 14 Pro doesn’t seem to be as bad.

I’m looking forward to the iPhone 15, I’ve enjoyed my time with the S23 Ultra but it’s time for me to fully return to IOS and iPhone. I’ve also enjoyed this thread and everyone’s opinions and tech enthusiasm :)

I think it is great. You have Android an honest shot although I still think a little more time might have helped but the point is that you made an honest effort to try Android.

Now after trying for a while you have decided that this experience has made you appreciate your Apple devices all the more and that is motivating you to get a new iPhone 15 instead.

Now you are ready to fully devote yourself to iOS and Apple. If this brings you more happiness and makes your life easier then it is the best decision. Go for it.

This experience with Android has given you a valuable lesson about the two OS.

Who knows maybe by the s26 ultra or Pixel 10 you might be back but until then enjoy your Apple devices!?

To be fair I have had Android for a while, I had the S22 Ultra, traded it in when pre-ordering the S23 Ultra with Samsung. Later sold my 23 Ultra, brought another one because I missed it and now sold this one to a friend. I haven’t lost anything because I made my money back.

To me IOS is just a better OS, more refined, polished and Apple tend to do things the way I like them. That’s not to say that Android is bad, im not saying that, I do like that Android is very customisable. Now that Apple seem to be allowing more and more customisation, I just feel like IOS is more me and is more for me. The Always on Display for example, Android have had it for years before Apple and IOS, but in my opinion IOS does it better. Apple seem to take a frustratingly long time to do something, but when they do they usually do it better in my opinion, it’s not always the case but most of the time it is.

I’m not hating on the S23 or Samsung, I think the S23 Ultra is Samsungs best device yet. I just think I’m an Apple guy and Android has definitely made me appreciate my Apple devices and IOS a lot more :)

I don't think it's a case of Apple doing it better. It's more a case of you are used to how Apple does it and the Android way is alien to you. I was an Apple man for years and tried an Android phone one time thinking that I would hate it...and I didn't. Sure there was a learning curve but I stuck at it. The one caveat is that I wasn't in the Apple ecosystem and I didn't give a badger's arse about iMessage. Had I been then it may well have been a different story.

I have an iPad to keep my hand in but it frequently frustrates me. I hate iOS at times and MUCH prefer the way Android and Samsung go about things. There are people in both camps who feel the same way you do about their preferred operating system. There's no harm in that.

I can understand what you are saying. You are saying that iOS does things the way you like them. I know iOS has become more customizable and you are just an Apple guy.

The only part I have a problem with is when you say better OS for iOS. More polished. Totally agree. More refined(maybe in some ways) Of course you haven't tried a Pixel?

Anyway people could argue endlessly why one OS is better than other. What I am going to say is that you prefer iOS because it does things the way you like them. That is kind of the point I was making a while ago. You prefer iOS and I agree you should just double down on Apple.

Enjoy what you want but don't say one OS is objectively better because of your opinion?

Basically yes, it does the things I like, how I like is what I’m saying.

I wouldn't say that Android is alien to me, I’ve been using it with the S22 Ultra, I had the S21 and the S23 Ultra as well. I also kept my iPhone because it’s familiar and because in my option it does some things better.

I don’t hate Android the way some fan boys do, i just prefer the way Apple does things, i think is the best way of putting it. Always on Display was the example I gave, I prefer the way Apple has done it to the way Samsung did, even tho Samsung did it years ago.

Everyone is different and I’m not knocking anyone for anything that they like or prefer, whether that’s iPhone, Samsung, Google Pixel, One Plus, Nothing phone and so on.

Sounds like you’re leaving Samsung at the right time as a UK resident

It's such a stupid decision for Samsung to be doing that, after giving Snapdragon to everyone. The S24 range will then be back to Exynos in the UK/Europe and Snapdragon in the US. No thank you, glad im out.
I don't understand why they're make their own chip to revive reviews and then go back. Just seems like an odd decision to me.

I've never had an issue with any of the exynos Galaxy phones I've had, not sure what all the fuss is about!

Chip is awful, bad battery life, overheating and slows the device down.

It’s not just this it’s the fact the same phone is being sold elsewhere for same price with a far superior chip

You say that but that's not been my experience, never had any overheating, slow down or battery issues. I don't know what to say other than reverting to Exynos in the UK won't put me off a purchase. Most people outside these forums wouldnt know what a SOC is, let alone that it is either exynos or snapdragon. It's a non issue for most consumers.

It is an issue when people are getting a less superior chip. It affects battery life, performance and even the camera. There are video comparisons on Youtube from previous years that prove all this.

I've read and seen it . I just don't have the same feelings about it that obviously you and others do.

Glad you’ve had a good experience but most people certainly haven’t. It’s a massive reason why the chip gets slated online due to the chip being worse than SD

I think most people do have an idea. I don’t think it’s no surprise the one year where the S series finally sells well is when the ultra gets the latest SD chip inside it. It’s why it was praised so much as let’s face it S23 ultra was same hardware wise pretty much as S22 ultra. The chip is what made the difference.

when other people in the world are getting a better version of the phone you have it’s a massive kick in the teeth

That's not strictly true :)

Last time I had an Exynos Galaxy phone the SD in the US was a $100 more than Asia and was nerfed as it only supported single sim

Like many others I had no issues

However

No one knows the specs/performance and/or advantages yet of the new Exynos to be used :)

Yet it's likely more Exynos models were sold outside of US/Sth Korea SD's, just as the markets are bigger

Who cares when it’s a rubbish chip, people have been complaining about it for a while. It’s a known fact that the Exynos wasn’t as good as the Snapdragon, as I said, battery life, performance and even photos weren’t as good. I’m no way is that ok.

As I said many more likely bought the Exynos and did not share your POV

Many considered the US SD chip nerfed as it did not support dual sims and cost more

Many did not have issues with their Exynos version

Comments mainly from US centric sites however accurate do not necessarily portray everyone's priority/preference.

Do not underestimate the importance of dual sim and this was part of many reasons the IPhone sales were hindered in many countries until esim and why IPhone in China had dual physical sim before esim variants. Apple understood this.
