As I said many more likely bought the Exynos and did not share your POV

Many considered the US SD chip nerfed as it did not support dual sims and cost more

Many did not have issues with their Exynos version

Comments mainly from US centric sites however accurate do not necessarily portray everyone's priority/preference.

Do not underestimate the importance of dual sim and this was part of many reasons the IPhone sales were hindered in many countries until esim and why IPhone in China had dual physical sim before esim variants

What rubbish, you’re telling me people considered the Snapdragon inferior because it didn’t support dual sim. It’s a known fact that the Exynos chip was trash, not just once, not twice but every single time it failed to compete with the Snapdragon version.

It’s a known fact that the Exynos was worse in battery life, performance and camera. That is not a matter of opinion but actual fact with benchmarks and people doing actual tests.

I’m sorry but there is no way you can defend Samsung over the Exynos chip, especially if they bring the Exynos back to Europe and keep the Snapdragon for the US. If Apple had done that you would be calling them out and rightfully so.

There was a time when SD was the worst between the two chips. But it was not by much of a margin. Users on Exynos were getting about 1 hour extra battery life and benchmarks performance slightly better.

But for about the last six or seven years, Exynos has been the worst by a very noticeable margin. Sometimes to the point that users felt ripped off.

Exynos is trash, everyone knows that. Samsung have everyone the SD with the S23 range, that was the right thing to do. It will be incredibly stupid of them to bring back Exynos with the S24, frankly they deserve to lose people if they do it.

My point is the hypocrisy with it, if Apple were doing that most people would be calling them out over it.

I am telling you its likely more people still bought the Exynos despite some SD advantages and 2 advantages Exynos had was price and dual SIM over the US SD

What's not hard to understand that most others still bought the Exynos version

You have 0 idea on what the performance etc will be on the new Exynos and you seem not to accept others priorities and preference

If it was always about chip specs then phones like the new Pixel Fold would be dead in the water LOL

And I’m telling you that it’s been a rubbish chip in the past. Many people have complained about it. YouTube videos made, tests done comparing the Exynos chip.

No I don’t, but history tells us that the Exynos won’t be as good as the SD version. Samsung don’t need to do it, just stick with the SD everywhere.

Other peoples preference is not to have worse battery life, lower performance and a camera performance that isn’t as good one on chip compared to the other in the exact same phone.

If Apple did that you would be one of the first people to call them out, anyone who does that is in the wrong. Maybe don’t defend Samsung when there is nothing to defend. If I did that with Apple, I’d be called a fan boy.

Dave your getting far to entrapped on this subject and I am not defending Samsung blindly, both phones had shortfalls

As others have noted the Exynos chipset was better than SD for a short period and it could equally be likely next time

Apple have been called out and it shows in sales of the IP14 with last years chipset for example amongst other preferences.

I agree those had preferences for the SD over Exynos possibly skipped that version but many did not.

Many in the US also noted lack of dual sim and it was reported due to contractual obligations with Qualcomm that dual sim did not exist and why a quota for SD was required, but for US mainly

Enough now :)

That's not strictly true :)

Last time I had an Exynos Galaxy phone the SD in the US was a $100 more than Asia and was nerfed as it only supported single sim

Like many others I had no issues

However

No one knows the specs/performance and/or advantages yet of the new Exynos to be used :)
Prices in europe are a lot worse now though for obvious reasons with inflation.

even if exynos is somehow better than it was it won’t touch SD gen 3 I don’t think

that said will see when it comes. A long way away.

Out of interest, why does Samsung not use exynos everywhere if it’s their own chip?

Money reasons, it’s a weaker chip than the SD. It’s why a lot of people complain about it and rightfully so, if Apple put a weaker chip in the iPhone for Europe while they kept a stronger chip for the US people would be calling them every name under the sun.

Having had all s series prior to the s23, I was chuffed when they announced SD coming to UK market. It’ll be a real shame if they now revert back to exynos

That was my point, they should just stick with the SD everywhere.

hey guys so the s23u just arrived still havent opened it since i gotta run some errands but got a couple questions

do you guys use those phone cases with a ring for better holding the phone? also do i insert the sim card on the new phone before or after transferring the data via smartswitch ? should i charge it to full batt or let it drain it to 0 first?

also regarding the current topic my exynos s8+ certainly overheated alot even back in the day when i first got it, playing pubg mobile with my friend his iphone never overheated. its a great phone that lasted well all these years but snapdragon seems snappier.

No one knows the real bottom line but they have obligations to Qualcomm because of modem and other things especially in the US market

Similarly no one knows how good or bad the New Exynos 2400 chip is and are just guessing and rumormongering with all the others

Its supposedly to be performing close to the Apple M2 in benchmarks and rumored ability to be 30 percent faster than the A16 Bionic and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in Geekbench 5’s multi-core results, how true this is yet to be confirmed and postings are sketchy at best.

Lets wait and see if the 2400 brings Samsung back to its former yet marginal glory ahead of the SD :)

LockStar now allows widgets on the AOD and Lock Screen. They're not perfect, but they will do. I can finally control music from AOD (I don't know how Samsung did not think of this a long time ago).
