Supposedly, Samsung has a new "Dream Team" working on Exynos with the purpose of being of being competitive with even Apple's chips. I'll believe it when I see it, but don't think Samsung is BSing this time around.
You better believe it is in Samsung best interest to get a win with Exynos. They don't have to be the best but if they can be much better in battery and overheating while also giving much better performance then they can turn the corner. Think what it would mean for Samsung if they had a chip that everyone wanted in their phones? They could maximize their profit and ultimately consumer would win with a cheaper alternative to Qualcomm that is not using TSMC.

I don't know if Samsung has the talent or resources to pull off anything disruptive but if they can just develop a decent chip that is within 10-20% of 8 gen whatever number is current then they can be taken seriously as long as the chip doesn't throttle or have poor efficiency. Then if Samsung can continue to evolve it's winning designs they may even get to a point where their chips are better in some ways?

No matter what if Samsung wants to continue to be a player in SOC fabrication and it seems like they are serious about it then they need to do whatever it takes to get a winning design ASAP. It will benefit the entire product stack once they have winning chips which will allow Samsung to be more competitive.

I do think Samsung can do it. I don't know if they will get their chips over the current humps or if they are just a permanent part of Samsung Exynos DNA ? I hope that Samsung can evolve and improve as it is extremely valuable for Samsung to succeed in SOC design and fabrication. They can produce decent chips already and have been producing mobile chipsets for a long time. I think Samsung just needs to focus and pour more resources to R&D? The pay off would be worth the effort and cost as long as they can produce several chips with winning designs.

I gotta say the S23U has been the best Android phone I have ever had. The Android 14 beta has been rock solid as well.
The S23U and 14PM as so close together imho that only OS prefernece separates them.
I am really impressed with this smartphone :)
I thought really highly of my S22 Ultra (and still like and use it) so with the improvements they made on the S23 Ultra I have to agree it’s the best.

Lol but I still miss my S9+. 🤣. Forever in my heart! I still have the Smart Case cover for it. I’m never going to forgive myself for letting go of it after only one year.

Galaxy S

hello.
Introducing the Galaxy S23 Camera / Gallery August update.

With the efforts of many developers, we are happy to finally be able to provide the crop zoom that members have suggested and have been waiting for a long time.
In addition, we have optimized the rear digital zoom quality and high-pixel detail in photo mode, and we will notify you as soon as the model that can be supported is confirmed under development review.
We have optimized the camera quality and camera/gallery performance by referring to the feedback left by members, so if you have any questions while using it, we will respond quickly.

1. During 2x zoom operation in photo/video mode, the high-resolution sensor crops to provide optical lens-level image quality, and a 2x zoom lens icon can be added through the Camera Assistant.
In addition, you can add a 2x zoom icon in the video Super Steady on the S23 Ultra model.
▷ Camera Assistant > Crop Zoom (Optical Quality Crop Zoom) On : 2x zoom icon displayed in photo/movie mode

2. The AI deep learning technology-based digital zoom picture quality improvement solution applied to the photo mode of Z Fold5/Flip5 (operating in a specific zoom magnification range) was also reflected and optimized for the S23.

3. Optimized details by improving the blur of normal illumination when shooting high-pixel 50MP/200MP in photo mode, and optimized shadow noise.

4. Optimized the file size when shooting motion photos in photo mode.

5. Improved motion blur when shooting moving subjects in photo mode.

6. Optimized camera performance (inter-shot interval, super-steady frame drop, etc.) to improve various shooting experiences in photo/video mode.

7. Increased the frame rate of Big Circle, Color Point, and Glitch effects from 24fps to 30fps in portrait video mode.

8. Adjusted intensity for natural face shape correction in front photo mode.

9. Adjusted the focus position to reduce peripheral image blur when shooting close-up subjects in the rear photo mode of the S23 and S23+ models.

10. The FAQ of CamCyclopedia has been updated.

So I have been accidentally using OneUI 6 Beta and so far it has been pretty stable for a Beta but it still has the occasional hiccups and sputters.

I had registered on the Samsung Members app for the Beta because I was interested and I was interested how big the download would be. So I downloaded the update thinking I could just cancel it. Well there was no way to cancel the update once you download it and as soon as register for the Beta it downloads.

I contacted Samsung support and they could not help me. So I had to install the Beta update ultimately. I now have Smart switch on my PC and I can downgrade the device to Android 13 and the way it was. I just made a back up that was able to get most of my stuff and some it just gave me an error??

So do I downgrade and hope the backup got most of what I needed? Or do I just keep riding the Beta roller coaster for a while longer? What would you do?

Oh damn. At this point if you're not seeing enough bugs to make you hate life with the phone, I'd just stick with the beta.

Over in the UK you can currently get a 512GB Ultra in Lavender colour for the same price as the 256GB model. Guess that just isn’t a popular colour for it here as no other models are in the sale other than Lavender. Have to admit the Ultra to me at least looks a bit odd in Lavender. Seems more a colour for the other models.

Yeah I love my black one and don't know that I'd ever consider another color.

I think that's usually to liquidate inventory, so yeah pretty normal.

So we likely won’t see a lavender S24 Ultra then next year.

Colour aside it is kind of tempting as a deal. After all you can always stick a black case on it.

Only Amazon appears to be doing the deal on the lavender S23U. At the end of the day it's exactly the same phone so why not save the £149.99...

I think the colours are pretty boring this year and that the lavender one is possibly the coolest of the bunch.
