That mega price is due to not having one AMOLED screen, but two.

And the inner screen folds... that's why Samsung has to compromise on having Ultra camera tech inside the Galaxy Fold. @mjschabow brought up a good point... the price will be ridiculously high if Samsung does that right now.

sure but there could be a normal and a fold ultra unless there's an actual technical reason for not having the ultra camera tech inside the fold, the money is just "will enough people pay more"

I think eventually we will get to the point where the inner screen technology won't be too expensive and Samsung can then consolidate with having only one flagship. Because eventually the Fold and S series will converge, the only feature that the Fold lacks is the Ultra camera tech.

Well, that's because the Ultra includes the silo... but the Fold does have sPen support (which I use daily).

yeah but that's a pretty big difference right? who wants to lose the sPen just because it doesn't have a silo. Plus taking the pen out of the silo pops up the pen menu on the ultra so it's more than just storage, it's functional.

I mean I agree that they're going to converge! but the silo can't really take too much to add to the fold and makes it feel a lot more pen friendly.

I personally don't see a big difference... don't get me wrong, of course I'll prefer to have a silo. But most users opt for a case to avoid losing it.

I think the point you are trying to make is that there's a sPen already in the box... so users don't have to pay additionally for sPen with the Fold. I received sPen case for free during preorder with my Fold4... so I'm perfectly content with it.

honestly no that wasn't the point at all I wouldn't mind buying an sPen if I had to, but having it in the actual phone so it doesnt get lost and I dont need to use a case plus I get the menu when the phone knows I've removed the pen all makes the experience worthwhile for me.

I mean each to their own right? but it was a big advantage for me on the note, I'm delighted it's now in the ultra, and I'd want it in the fold before I move to it.

if you want it really quickly that sounds sensible but depends if you think the exclusive colour is worth waiting for or not, how long you're gonna keep it etc.

yeah I'm really surprised! tbh I feel like I shouldn't comment in case I jinx it because every year I get all my devices online for the apple store, sit there refreshing and watching everyone get the earliest delivery date possible whilst mine just says "apple store back soon"... finally 30mins or so later I get in and delivery dates have slipped a month already. I keep wondering WHY OH WHY apple don't just have a website queuing system!

Samsung couldn't have been any easier and yeah ok perhaps because less day 1 clamber from people but the store didnt seem to go down, trade in worked brill, finance worked great, discounts worked.... and delivery seems to be before expected!

I'm sure the delivery van tomorrow will hit a stray herd of dodos, veer off the road and be beamed away by some aliens wanting to see what tech the humans are using.... but still. So far so good.

I dont know.... I have the phone in my orders and that said awaiting dispatch all yesterday then on its way late today.

I have other things like cases in my orders that are due 13th and they still say order confirmed.

so I think you may get it before you think!

If you're in the US I think all the colors are available but people in other countries are starting to report backorder status on exclusive colors. Though they're not sure if that's a glitch.

My FedEx account says I've got a shipment coming to me on the 13th but my order status on my Shop Samsung app doesn't give any indication it's anywhere near shipping and I can still cancel the order.

Pixel 7 pro is my work device and use for walks for photos etc

Fold 4 is my portable tablet for when I don’t want to use my iPad Pro

S23 ultra will be for photo comparisons and who knows if I enjoy it will keep it. My plan was to get Xiaomi 13 ultra as a device just for photos and think that device could be the best on that area

That said I tend to use my iPhone the most

We don’t know yet. Apparently most of the tech YouTubers failed to go into camera settings and see that there’s an updated feature that lets you switch over to take the picture fast. And another to go even faster at some sacrifice to exposure quality or something (I didn’t quite catch that). I linked to the lone YouTuber who actually did due diligence and discovered this. But of course his video is absolutely buried on YouTube behind a slew of sensationalized content.

By simply having your contacts on GMail. iOS syncs great with Google account for contacts and calendar. That’s basically what I do to sync my iPhone and my Android.

I'll say this though, this is where Android (Samsung specifically) annoys me in comparison with Apple. We all want faster shutter speed, so why not just bake it in the software instead of giving us an option?

If Samsung’s shutter speed is a big issue, many consumers would’ve complained about it. But as with many things, seems the ones complaining are just YouTubers and us needs in forums

I actually messaged the guy and he had no clue (like many reviewers) that there is now a Quick Shutter option. He said he was going to try it and update everyone.

Update. He changed the setting. Said minor movements are better but the bigger movements still have blur.
