I mean, my setup right now is iphone 13 mini and ipad air.. fold seems to be ideal, to replace both.. when unfolded, it is like one handed phone, when folded, nice ipad like device. honestly, most i doubt is camera system in fold4, i want best possible replacement for iphone mini (u know, 2 children, taking picture of anything they do:)) and of course there are some apple specific services i would miss (find my, facetime, face id for example)... of course i can buy ultra and keep mini, but i am definitelly not 2 phones guy (dont want to keep care of 2 devicese, dont want that hassle and after all, it seems a bit non necessary luxury to me).. so, thats it.. i know all advantages of both of them, but probably problem is me, can not decide:D

to all, sorry for derailing ultra thread...
I have the Fold 4 and 13 mini. I feel like the Fold's camera is better. The fact that it has raw mode and 3x zoom is a win for me. The 13 mini camera hasn't disappointed me though. I use the mini when I'm going out at night and want to travel light. Do some lightroom and the photos ain't bad haha. However for photographing children then the mini is a bit faster. Less chance of blur.

I can’t decide if I should keep my Fold 4 or get the S23U. The battery life on the Fold sucks, but I love everything else about it.
Keep both and then trade both in for the Fold 7. Hopefully the Ultra camera system is on the Fold 7 by then haha. That's my plan...if I'm not tempted again next year 😜

Still undecided, i can get ultra or fold4 literraly tomorrow, but cant decide if i am gonna switch and if so, which of these 2🤷
Think of it differently

If you do not get the Fold now you will not be satisfied until you do :) so why put it off

Unless you are a camera nut then the S23U is a must

else

The Fold can replace your kindle/mini tablet and even just showing friends Photo's on your Fold over dinner is a joy

You will be empowered and likely find more ways to use your Fold and never look at a slab again LOL

Lol, yep! Once someone gets the Fold4, it's hard going back to the slab phone again. I need three things to happen with the Fold5 -- slightly wider outer screen, and improved battery life and cameras. I still get those, "What in the hell type of phone is that" looks from people. Funny thing is, folding phones won't become normalized until Apple releases one.

I may well do but if I do then the pixel would need to be sold

You’re that impressed with it? If I remember correctly you sent the S22 Ultra back.
I’ve been holding off upgrading my S22 Ultra because of seeing reviews and more importantly, what people are saying about battery life. Also the upgrade from the Exynos chip to the Snapdragon.

Still need to do a lot more testing really. Need to test the battery life as so far not really had chance to. Once got a case I will be able to do so.

I agree on all 3 points. Battery has been the worst for me personally, I am a heavy user but did expect the Fold4 to at least last a full day. Samsung requires a 5000 mAh battery in the Fold5 like the Ultra. Wider front screen is a necessity, ideally with S-Pen usage & built in. I would love Ultra specs on the Fold5 but if Samsung throw all bells & whistles this will be not be either cost effective for them to produce or make a viable profit plus compete too closely to the Ultra.

One excellent camera feature of the Z Fold 4 I forgot to mention is the ability to use the main 50MP sensor on the Z Fold 4 as a selfie camera. I've done a few family selfie pics and this is great to be able to use the 50MP. Rumours are the 108MP camera will be on the Fold5 which will make a difference all round.

My Fold4 has been a party piece! Everyone asks about it at a bar or at dinner or just stare at a coffee shop! By the time Apple finally step up and innovate with a foldable for the masses, newer tech will be available.

I do think the Fold and variables of it (allegedly a forthcoming roll out screen) is the future and next gen tech. I question will I miss the fold out screen if I sold my Fold4. Right now I'm happy to keep using the practicality of the S23 Ultra slab with current top specs, DEX on a monitor & TV and couple that with an iPad & Macbook. How long can we keep waiting for Apple make a proper multi-tasking iPad!! If I do sell my Fold4 I may try an Tab S8 Ultra.

Every time I think there’s no way I could ever leave Apple, stories like this come out.

Omg, I just woke up and saw the article and I felt the same. I know it's just a rumor but the fact I even feel it's plausible gets me in the gut.

Oh well, I'm going to be on my lightning cable with my iphone for a while longer anyway. I'm content with my 14 Pro Max and I'm staying on it another year. That will give me time to see what anti consumer money grubbing monkey business, if any, that Apple gets up to.

Meh, it’s just a random rumor. Apple already uses USB-C on all iPads and Macs. I don’t think they would add unnecessary complication when they themselves want to push MagSafe. Besides, all properly certified USB-C/Thunderbolt cables that support high power/data transfer rate do already have a chip in it to ensure stability, so it’s nothing new.
