The front screen is better in width than the Fold3 so easier to use but its still quite slim plus no option of S-Pen use on the front. This is the achilles heal of the Fold4 in my use; I prefer to use the internal screen for everything which makes the front screen not as usable as it should be.
Whilst only a couple of days hands-on experience, the S23 Ultra is the best slab phone I have used outside of Apple.
The cameras are top tier, the video has blown me away; I'm an (amateur!) videographer and upto this point, Android hasn't come close to matching Apple with video quality. I did a few video comparisons with a mates 14 Pro Max and the S23 Ultra is on level terms now. 8K video is special on the Ultra. Optical zoom at 10x is brilliant, easily better than the Fold4's 3 x optical.
My next tests will be low-light photography which I'm excited about. Possibly may go space geek with a tripod for astrophotography!
The S-Pen built in does make a difference to the Fold4 as its always on-hand without worrying where it is located.
I'm thinking if you tried to cancel after it has shipped the cancel would not go through. They would just say they could not cancel it because it has shipped. What I find crazy is that mine has shipped and I can still cancel my order. This seems like it could be a huge liability for Samsung. Not that I’m thinking about doing it, but I’m not sure that their records would update to show that the phone was still delivered if someone cancelled it. 🤦♂️
I use the Belkin MagSafe car mount! I don’t use a MagSafe wallet. I’ll report back when my phone arrives sometime next week! My Spigen case is set to arrive today or tomorrow.Out of interest if you use an Apple wallet or car mount does the Samsung MagSafe work and hold these items nicely? I’d hate to one day upgrade to a Samsung and lose the use of the wallet. Granted I understand it’ll only hold with no further tech advances as it’s attached to an iPhone!
I mean, my setup right now is iphone 13 mini and ipad air.. fold seems to be ideal, to replace both.. when unfolded, it is like one handed phone, when folded, nice ipad like device. honestly, most i doubt is camera system in fold4, i want best possible replacement for iphone mini (u know, 2 children, taking picture of anything they do) and of course there are some apple specific services i would miss (find my, facetime, face id for example)... of course i can buy ultra and keep mini, but i am definitelly not 2 phones guy (dont want to keep care of 2 devicese, dont want that hassle and after all, it seems a bit non necessary luxury to me).. so, thats it.. i know all advantages of both of them, but probably problem is me, can not decideHard to sum it up any better than what Supersonicc did. I've had all the Fold iterations, and the Fold 4 is the first one where I can say the Fold line is finally ready for prime time. I keep it on my work line but I find myself using it all the time outside of work. It is the perfect companion on a flight or when out and about and I'm having to miss a sporting event, I just fold out that big, beautiful screen and not miss a thing.
I'd honestly dual sim both my personal and business lines on it if the battery and cameras were on point. Well, that and I'm a phone enthusiast and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to break that addiction. However, if I was forced to choose, I'd have to go with the Fold 4 (or upcoming Pixel Fold). It's my workhorse in ways that a regular slab phone just can't match.
Yeah easily betterSounds good so far, I’m always using my phones mainly on WhatsApp and listening to music. If it can withstand a full day of that I’ll be impressed.
Better than the S22 Ultra??
Even the Fold 3 has my husband’s loyalty. So I can imagine how good the Fold 4 must be since it’s refined above the Fold 3. I’m not going to get one, but I still am massively looking forward to the Fold 5. And the Flip 5.Hard to sum it up any better than what Supersonicc did. Lol I picture them sending some poor minion scurrying over to FedEx desperately peeking through labels to find my order and pull it out. Lol, me narcissistic much?I'm thinking if you tried to cancel after it has shipped the cancel would not go through. They would just say they could not cancel it because it has shipped.
Not long ago I got into a two or three post exchange with @SteveJUAE about the power of boobs to keep phones from falling over while reading in bed. I babbled on and on about car dashboards on the Pixel 7 Pro thread. If I haven’t been voted off the Dynamic Island by now, I’m sure we can extend a bit of grace to you for a properly tech oriented discussion. 🤣.to all, sorry for derailing ultra thread...
Find My and facetime are easily replaceable for me. I use Life360 with my family so we always know where each other are and it's cross platform. Video calling, man, there's tons of alternatives out there. Google Duo or whatever they call it now works great. FB Messenger. Whatsapp. FaceID is the one thing that really doesn't have a comparable alternative. I am just fine with fingerprint sensors but I know some people are used to FaceID and cant give that up.I mean, my setup right now is iphone 13 mini and ipad air.. fold seems to be ideal, to replace both.. when unfolded, it is like one handed phone, when folded, nice ipad like device. honestly, most i doubt is camera system in fold4, i want best possible replacement for iphone mini (u know, 2 children, taking picture of anything they do) and of course there are some apple specific services i would miss (find my, facetime, face id for example)... of course i can buy ultra and keep mini, but i am definitelly not 2 phones guy (dont want to keep care of 2 devicese, dont want that hassle and after all, it seems a bit non necessary luxury to me).. so, thats it.. i know all advantages of both of them, but probably problem is me, can not decide

wait there was a boobs discussion in a nerdtalk forum and I missed it?!?Not long ago I got into a two or three post exchange with @SteveJUAE about the power of boobs to keep phones from falling over while reading in bed. And actually your post is quite relevant because the S23 Ultra now has to fight for its place against the Fold series. My husband will likely step away from the Ultra if the Fold ever gets the Ultra cameras. He wants a really super extra Ultra device. He wants it all!
You may have touched on this earlier and I missed it but as you have chosen the 13 mini as your current phone it seems that a small, easy to pocket device is important to you. You will lose that if you go with the Fold.I mean, my setup right now is iphone 13 mini and ipad air.. fold seems to be ideal, to replace both.. when unfolded, it is like one handed phone, when folded, nice ipad like device. honestly, most i doubt is camera system in fold4, i want best possible replacement for iphone mini (u know, 2 children, taking picture of anything they do) and of course there are some apple specific services i would miss (find my, facetime, face id for example)... of course i can buy ultra and keep mini, but i am definitelly not 2 phones guy (dont want to keep care of 2 devicese, dont want that hassle and after all, it seems a bit non necessary luxury to me).. so, thats it.. i know all advantages of both of them, but probably problem is me, can not decide

Is the cream colour the same on the stainless steel edges, or is it just silver? It’s here!
I’ve seen the edges compared to the silver edges on the S22 Ultra. It’s a warm almost champagne silver. Not the cooler chrome looking silver. But the edges do look metallic and not as color matched to the body as is the case with the aluminum on the iPhones. Is the cream colour the same on the stainless steel edges, or is it just silver?
I find that Life 360 is actually better than "Find My".Find My and facetime are easily replaceable for me. I use Life360 with my family so we always know where each other are and it's cross platform. I've never had a iPhone mini so I don't know how the cameras compare but I can't imagine they are drastically better than the Fold 4 and surely not the S23 Ultra. I'd recommend giving the S23 Ultra a try if you are wanting to venture over to Android. It will probably be the device that ticks the most boxes for most users. If you decide you like android and can live without those iOS specific services/features but want to try the Fold you can always return it just as you could if you want to go back to your iOS device.
I like it now especially with kids that it is one handed phone, but i have been regulary switching between sizes - ip 3g/5c/5s/6 plus/7/8plus/11/13 mini so, maybe i can live with another type of device… again, fold seems to me closer to mini than ultra, right i mean, outer display of fold aint that far from mini one.You may have touched on this earlier and I missed it but as you have chosen the 13 mini as your current phone it seems that a small, easy to pocket device is important to you. You will lose that if you go with the Fold.
Who is behind life360… never heard of it, giving such orivate data to apple i am fine with it, to some not well known comoany.. well..I find that Life 360 is actually better than "Find My".
Not 100% sure but they are very well known and respected from what I understand.Who is behind life360… never heard of it, giving such orivate data to apple i am fine with it, to some not well known comoany.. well..
Not sure. If you have tracking, go to fedex.com, track it, click View Full Details and look for Direct Signature Required somewhere. If it needs a signature, you can always request a Hold At Location for a FedEx store. I do this anyway because they usually deliver to their own stores first thing in the morning, so I get my package earlier than if I had sent it to my house.Been a while since I ordered from Samsung. Do they still require a signature with Fed Ex? I looked at tracking and it doesn't say anything about it.
Thanks and interesting! I don't see anything about signature required this time. Not sure. I believe there's a setting in the Watch app on the phone where you can click "mute connected devices" or something like that.one of the weird things I notice coming from apple is notifications seem to go to both phone AND watch! I mean why! on apple, if I'm wearing the watch just the watch vibrates not the phone too. It's probably a setting but wheerrrreeeee!
and I feel like this a lot. It's like Android has got SOOOOO much better in the last few years it really has but it's a matter of configuring sensible options and where the heck they are v Apple which has no (<- exaggeration there) options so everything just works out of the box.
The other thing on android which isnt google's fault is the state of apps and widgets. like I have a calendar widget on apple that shows my next appointment and when it's passed, it goes. Why on android are my appointments for the whole of today still sitting on my home screen! again it's poorly coded apps.
Then I mess with the camera and I mess with all the pro options and I love it and hate apple all over again LOL sigh.
I feel about apple the same as an ex-gf from many many years ago. Wish I could have the memory of both of them erased from my mind, not because they're awful but because I don't need the comparison sitting there in the back of my mind especially when I only remember the good bits!
