yep I feel the same.

The only thing I'm really missing from the iphone is the notification setup.

Ironic since everyone seems to say the android notification system is better! but it's things like I'm in some app on android and an important email comes in. On the iphone, there's a large notification across the top of the screen, on the s23, all I seem to get is a little icon added to the too small to see top row. Unless I swipe down to see the notification centre, I could miss it.

....but WOW I'm loving the camera app :) I mean I'm so in love I've already offered to buy it a prius and let it move in without a prenup.
Have you tried Settings > Notifications > Advance Settings > Floating Notifications > Smart pop-up view?

yeah and that's really weird because it seems to mean different things to different apps.

So, it SEEMS like gmail does what I want and just puts a notification "bar" across the top of the window for a few seconds great.

other apps like whatsapp/outlook seem to pop up an oversized icon for themselves. No actual info in it until its clicked and then I get a pop up window.

I don't know if its just me and a load of settings I have to play with or if different apps are choosing to notify in different ways.

Is there anyone here who has/had s22 ultra snapdragon version and made a switch to s23 ultra? Was curious in regards to heating up comparison during the camera usage and battery life. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Fold.. Ultra.. Fold.. Ultra.. Fold… me all day all night🤷
I'm using both back to back. I would say if you own an iPad or S8 Tab, your best buy is to go for the Ultra.

The much improved cameras, superb screen, longer battery life, new processor and in-built S-Pen for multi-tasking on the go are the primary reasons I may sell my Fold4.

Form factor comes into it too; the Fold4 is 263 grams, quite chunky when closed whereas the S23 Ultra is 233 grams (the Ultra mmWave model weighs 234g). Whilst about 30 grams difference does not sound much, it is noticeable when holding and carrying the Fold4, something else to think about!

This is an interesting article about the new cooling chamber system on the S23 Ultra. Technically it should improve heat dissipation and keep the S23 cooler than the S22 during camera, gaming use etc. so helping the battery performance. I would like to see a proper YT technical comparison of the two to see real world differences.

Since I got this phone, I've been thinking about selling my Fold 4. It would be hard to give up though.

not in any way scientific, but last night I used smartswitch to move GBs from iphone to s23 and it took about 2 hrs (stupidly long time, dont know why) and the iphone got kinda warm, the s23 didnt at all. Later on I went outside to mess with astrophotography and I suddenly thought, last time I tried this with a DSLR never mind a phone, it got hot and the first time I tried it actually overheated the DSLR and shut down. With a phone, I've never seen anything match the 10mins on the s23ultra! in fact I seem to remember the iphone had a max of 30seconds (which was good at the time). Anyway, even with a long exposure, the phone didnt seem to get hot although it should be said, the night air was pretty cool ;-)

I'm impressed by whatever cooling theyre doing

200mp shot. Certainly be better with more light

Just saw one of these in person. Been a while since I was on Android, but the wallpaper options are really cool and how you can theme the app icons to follow the color scheme. Makes the Home Screen look pretty awesome.

love it ! I know the pixel 7 pro AI is doing incredible things with how photos look from that phone, but I honestly really do rate the s23utra and the detail in some of the photos is incredible
it's certainly impressive what the ultra is doing in photos. pixel binning is certainly doing some great things with 200mp. I still think they are better off with 1 inch sensor but the way they are making up for the sensor size is impressive.

yep as a photographer, larger sensor the better IMHO :) allows for more light gathering and narrower depth of field amongst other things.

What they're doing with AI is incredible and I would never have believed it possible BUT I still want larger sensors

maybe Samsung do add it in a year or 2 but maybe with S pen and pericope lens space is an issue and why they don't have it. I will be trying out one of the Chinese phones this year with 1 inch sensors for sure to compare.

yeah I think they'll all go there soon... AI has bought them some time but physics will catch up <G> but wow, I know I keep saying it, I'm amazed how good we have it this year with the s23ultra

little app called "glimpse" is helping .... it wakes up the phone and shows the notifications on the lock screen when one is received which has helped a lot !

I guess this is the thing with android. At least when there's something that I don't like, there's probably a way to change it or add an app to fix it etc :)

Is it a keeper?

Yeah I think so, I’m going to do a battery test tomorrow by using it non stop to test the battery life. Maybe a long walk to test the camera out for my comparisons as well to put this new chip to the test
Ok cool, my hand keeps hovering over the buy button. Keep changing my mind on the colour as well, going back and forth between cream and the exclusive online Lime colour.

OK I legit just got 2 full days out of this phone, the battery life is the real deal. Another thing I've noticed is how fast this loads apps compared to my n10+ it is sooo fast and smooth. Also the built in speakers sound way better. This really is an amazing phone!
2 days with heavy use or light? I use my phone a lot through the day. Usually on WhatsApp and things like that. My iPhone 14 Pro Max typically ends the day with 20% left.

I had about 8 hours of sot in total over the 2 days. I would say medium usage, I doubt you would get 2 days with very heavy usage. I should also point out the phone was plugged in while I was driving for Android auto purposes.
