I had about 8 hours of sot in total over the 2 days. I would say medium usage, I doubt you would get 2 days with very heavy usage. I should also point out the phone was plugged in while I was driving for Android auto purposes.
Speaking of. How is Android Auto? Decent compared to Apple Car Play?

Hoping the little S23 can last a normal day. All the reviews so far are about the Ultra. I plan on running it in light performance mode, 5G off, refresh set to 60 hz and if I can get 4-5 SoT every day, I will be happy. Mostly use my phone for RSS, Reddit, and podcasts, so not a lot of streaming video or gaming.

2 days with heavy use or light? I use my phone a lot through the day. Usually on WhatsApp and things like that. My iPhone 14 Pro Max typically ends the day with 20% left.
With that type of usage I doubt the s23 ultra will best your iPhone. It may be about the same or slightly worse. iOS is generally better with battery life.

That being said the gap is pretty small and iOS 16 seemed to worsen battery life substantially on my iphone 13 Pro Max and that is without Always On Display. With iOS 15 the 13 Pro Max was practically a 3 day phone and had the best battery life of any phone I have ever had by far. Unfortunately it dropped in duration about 30% after the update.

I don't have my s23 yet but I suspect that it will be significantly better than the s22 based on the differences between the two SOC, faster ufs 4.0 and faster ram and traditionally speaking Samsung usually optimizes better battery life over time so it is possible that the s23 ultra will get even better battery life in a few months.

Also it takes about two weeks for adaptive Battery to really learn and optimize your usage patterns and fine-tune the algorithm so I don't think any of the initial battery life reports are 100% accurate yet. In a month or so it will be interesting to see what people are reporting in terms of battery life.

However if the initial reports and reviews give us a good picture the ultra should deliver all day to a day and a half of very heavy use and may even be a two day phone over time but that is a bigger maybe.

I have a Pixel 7 Pro which I am using now and I use it very hard, probably 7 or more hours screen on time every day and I get about 20-40% battery at the end of the day so I am pretty sure the s23 ultra will surpass that. The Pixel 7 Pro is a good phone but the Tensor is not as efficient as the 8 gen 1 let alone 8 gen 2.

You should not have to adjust settings down in the s23 ultra. You should be able to run the SOC in optimized mode, 1440p resolution and adaptive refresh rate and decent screen brightness and get around 7 or more hours of screen on time. And as Samsung optimizes the software over time it should get better.

Plus as I said before it takes a couple weeks for adaptive Battery to really be optimized and the first few days to a week you will have the worst battery life.

My Pixel 7 Pro on high brightness, 1440p, and high refresh rate last at least 6 hours of screen on time and usually deliver close to 7 or 8 with 20% left at the end of the day. So ultra should be better for several reasons.

I can speak on this as I have been using an iPhone and carplay for a long time and I was worried about the difference.

Google has made several changes to the UI in Android auto and it is much better than before. It is just about the same but now with split screen it might be better than Carplay.

I was a huge fan of carplay because it worked really well and when I first made the switch to Android auto it was not as good as carplay but Google has made significant improvements and can say with confidence you should be happy with using it.

I have mine set to quad hd, 5g on, adaptive refresh, full performance mode, and I'm telling you there is no way you are killing this thing in one day lol

Usually when I use my S22 Ultra it's around 15% battery life at 6-7ish, by the time I go to bed after 11pm, I usually get the plug your phone in and charge message, followed by the screen dimming itself and at that point I'm around between 5 or 9% battery left. I should point out that I'm in the UK and so it's the Exynos version of the S22 Ultra that I have.

Why are you thinking of selling the Fold?
Well ever since I have received my S23 Ultra, I've been using it a bit less every day. I use mostly my laptop and my S23 Ultra. Although it might be easier to sell my laptop then it would be to sell my Fold 4.

My earlier post was perhaps misunderstood. I’m looking for battery feedback on the regular s23, not the ultra. Did anyone get the 6.1” phone with the 3900 mah battery?

Well I had the s22 and it was not a all day heavy use phone. I think with the larger battery and more efficient 8 gen 2 and smaller 1080p screen that it might have changed. I will not have my preorder until March so I can't say.

What I can say is if battery life is important to you then you should get the s23 plus. It will most likely have the best battery life of the three models with a 4700 mah battery, better chipset, and 1080p screen at 6.6". The ultra is 6.8" and 1440p with only a 300 mah larger battery than the plus. The plus should be the battery king of the line up.

So after seeing this Youtube video, I decided to order the Red S23 Ultra, the red with that black 😍

My mum and dad needed a new washing machine, buying the phone at the same time knocked off a further £50 and because it was all in one order I got 10, 128 Samsung point. I'm not sure what I can do with Samsung points but I got them anyway 😂

I have to wait until the 24th for my red 23 Ultra, as it's an online exclusive colour. The lime colour arrives sooner if ordered (17th) so I'm guessing more people have ordered the red S23 Ultra.

Decided to return my Fold and preorder the S23 instead. If it weren’t for the horrible battery life, I would have kept the Fold.

I have decided to sell my Fold4 primarily due to battery life. I’ve done various tests like battery performance saving, deep-sleeping apps, removing dormant or little-used apps, clearing cache etc. All to no avail, I still get less than a full day without recharging. I would happily go for a Fold5 if Samsung focus on decent battery improvements & camera upgrades.

For now, the S23 Ultra is overall the better smartphone in the key usage areas that I need.
In the last few days, battery life has been a monster so far.

It does, I've never had a red phone before. I hope it's a good enough upgrade from my S22 Ultra Exynos, especially when it comes to the battery life. I'm not expecting miracles, but it would be nice to get at least a full day out of it and not have to worry about that. Also the camera looks to be a nice little upgrade, I like taking night shots of the moon on my S22 Ultra, so hopefully it's as good if not better on the S23.

Yeah despite people saying otherwise at launch I've always found the Fold 4 to have poor battery life even when using the small display all day. It's noticeably worse than any smartphone I've owned in recent memory.

How much better is the battery life on the S23 Ultra? Twice as good? Slightly better?

I've got 80% left and I'm on 1 hour, 48 mins screen time

Really hoping Fed Ex doesn’t require a signature tomorrow. I have to run an errand around noon, smack dab in the middle of my delivery window. Nothing on the tracking says signature required.

I wonder if I can put a note at the front door with the tracking number and my signature.
