So pleased with my graphite model.

I will say I'm glad I got a case though as its like a bar of soap without it. I also find that the bottom corner really digs into my hand without it. I'm sure my s22 never felt like that.

Battery life is amazing. Used the phone as normal throughout the day today. Off charge at 6am and right now it's 9pm ish and I am still on 69%. I'll take that!

I like the graphite color a lot. One of my favorites actually.

Are you a heavy user? myself for example, I use WhatsApp a lot throughout my day as well as calling and web browsing.

Not super heavy, just day to day. Plenty of web browsing, bit of YouTube, Whatsapp and social media with an hours walk this morning listening to podcasts etc.

Please don't take this as a criticism because it's not (it's something I might say). Do you carry your Z fold 4 and a phone, I must admit, I would just be tempted to carry the one. There is a reason for my question, like you, I love tech, I have had a S23 Ultra in my basket for a couple of days, I really fancy a fold though. ATM I have an Apple iPhone 14Pro and am at half a mind that to get the S23U, wouldn't be a big enough change for me. I would love to wait for the Z Fold 5 and have seen lots of YT videos of it folding flat, I am not sure I have the patience.

There is of course the fact that I am heavily invested in a couple of late series Apple Watches, I really couldn't justify having the S23U and iP14Pro. Decisions, decisions.

BTW, love your camera comparisons.

My Z fold 4 is basically in my tech bag I take to work. I have a sim in it so can watch content on the go when needed. Sometimes I find it hard to justify but as a tablet I can fold up it’s just so nice to out in my pocket on my break and just unfold it and watch what I want.

Actually they are very different from both a hardware and software perspective. Sure they are both candy bar phones but that is where the similarities stop.

Of course these are your devices so your opinion is the only one that really matters.

But just to add my point of view the iPhone PM 14 is so different from the s23u in so many ways. Software is very different. One you have a billion settings and customization options and the other you don't. One you have 5 cameras with mostly better sensors and a much more customizable camera app. On the iphone you have a heavy flat device while the s23 ultra is bigger yet lighter by a hair. You have a stylus with the s23u and none in the iPhone. You have a different processor, ram, and storage as the s23u uses more cutting edges versions of both ram and storage.

The style of the phones is completely different. One being much more squared off. Materials are different, stainless steel frame vs aluminum and different types of corning glass.

So to me the two devices offer the best experience of Android and iOS possible. You can alternate between the two and always keep abreast of the latest software from Apple and Android.

The folds are interesting but still need a few generations to be really good and I personally have issues with a foldable phone I don't see ever being resolved. As a tablet they are too small and as a phone they are too big and then there is the soft plastic screen with a crease. The camera system still lags behind the ultra and so does battery life. But I can still see the appeal of such devices. Then there is the extra cost.

Ultimately it is your choice and there is no wrong decision as long as you are happy.

Wow, that blue is pretty nice. I think so far the blue might be my favorite followed closely by the graphite. But I like the Lime, red and lavender too- just want more purple 💜 Lol.

I think the blue s23 ultra looks better than the iPhone PM. I actually think my favorite blue is the iPhone 13 blue but that Ultra is really nice for a pastel. I also like the blue rings on the camera or is it silver with the blue finish reflection? Are the sides color matched or silver aluminum??

It's silver sides similar to the 13 pro max. Kind of a big reason I bought it. I think last year version had black sides

yeah sure thing and they'll work for me as "best of breed Android & iOS to compare" but in terms of my day to day usage, it's a wash, there's nothing I desperately need that I can't do on either. It's just "that's a little better over there", "this is a bit nicer over here"

At least with the flip/fold, there's a major form factor difference which changes how I use the devices.

The smoothness blows away my Fold 4 which is surprising. My Fold looks like a 60Hz screen compared to it. I even verified the screen smooth settings haha. Love the S23U and reminds me of my N20U. I miss the cases they gave for free for the Note though. The Fold 4 however is still on another level due to the inner display. Keeping both until the Fold 7 is released hopefully. It should have the Ultra's camera system and probably be thinner hopefully by then.

Hah, good eye! Jack in the Box behind the car and a Carl's Jr across the street! I haven't eaten at that Carl's in a long time, I've gotten food poisoning 3 different times from there.

I have found Samsung phones smooth since the 10 series however the s23U does give some real iOS smooth vibes.
