I am in a similar situation with being in the US and most of my family and friends use iMessages. However setting up a server on my Mac just to get messages or compatibility with iMessages is a big hassle, security risk and I don't want to have my Mac running all the time just to enable that functionality.

Apple seriously pisses me off with the games they are playing which for me personally drives me away from iPhone not towards it because of inconvenience. If they can't understand that they have a lot of users who have Mac's and iPads and want to use Android then they are going to lose customers.

I have to admit, if I was the CEO of Apple... I'll do the same.

I wouldn't implement iMessage for Android especially when it's a deciding factor behind people staying on the platform. At the end of the day, Apple at its core is a hardware company... it's the smart move. We all get caught up in the midst of it, but they are not Microsoft or Google... both companies license their operating system.

Edit.. But I'll at least implement RCS.

If you have a Mac already it takes 30 seconds to set up, no? No real tinkering with server settings, the app just works? The hard part for me was getting it to work on my PC, but once (the VM) configured as a real Mac would be, setup was very quick.

I agree, it's a good solution to use. I've done it in the past (not on a Windows PC) and I would go that route if I didn't have a cellular iPad...

But I'm curious though... what video did you use to set up macOS to use on Windows? And will there be any port forwarding required?

For those running air messages or another similar service to get the blue bubbles, are people messaging your phone number or apple id email?

Holy crap I did not know you could pin scores on your screen in the Google app. This is phenomenal and as good as dynamic island!

Here is the video:

I didn't need to do any port forwarding, it was surprisingly easy to set up when using this guide.

Thank you...
I know if I escalated the issue I could probably get a favorable resolution. But at this point the loss of my trust is weighing pretty heavy on me right now. I should not have to jump through hoops so to speak to get samsung to do the right thing.
They might have contracted the return process out to another comapny. But that is still on them to vet and make sure the process is run smoothly. We are stiill Samsung customers after all.
I wonder if it's just an automation glitch. The sheer volume of rejected trades being reported makes me wonder if someone glitched the system over there. It sounds like customer service is manually overriding rejections after customers firmly question the results.

I have to say thanks to Google Fi.

I just got my s23 ultra a bit early and if it wasn't for Google Fi offering half price and no trade in on an unlocked phone I would not have been able to afford the Ultra.

So I tried to port my number over to the new phone and switch my service from Boost to Google Fi and Boost app and website are completely down for the weekend.

Called Google Fi and they said there was nothing they could do. I said since you only sell unlocked phones I can just use the Boost sim card until I can switch? She said yes it would work. So I confirmed that the phone is unlocked and that even Google customer service is better than Boost. Lol.

So far the cell reception of this phone is amazing. I normally barely get any reception on my Pixel and on the s23 I get full bars on same network in the same area.

Will post more about the phone but just wanted to say thanks to Google Fi.

I had my first full battery charge yesterday. I went to bed last night with 40% still remaining, that’s really good battery life and on par with my iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Watch out Apple there’s a new beast in town and it’s called the S23 Ultra.

If there was any alternative to “find my” that does not sell data i guess i am free to move to android… maybe next year, i am fed up by apple attitude to other countries than us/uk… just opened find my and my street is just field on apple maps, at least 3 year old maps (one of biggest cities in my country).. apple music is mess (worst ever designed app) with tragic search, no apple store in my country, siri is dumb as hell… like really tough to like the comoany (gone are times when apple was leading in almost any category).. end of rant

I may be misremembering but I could have sworn it was Steve Jobs' original stated intention to make iMessage work across platforms. I don't know if he simply died before he could follow through on that or if he changed his mind. Or, like I said, I may be misremembering something I read years ago.

Miles behind is probably an exaggeration, but I do feel like Apple need to do something fresh with the iPhone. My S23 Ultra can multitask with 2 apps open at once, use the S Pen and all that. My iPhone 14 Pro Max is more polished and the OS looks good, but it can’t even split screen multitask. It would be amazing if Apple made a small Apple Pencil and allowed it to work with the iPhone Pro Max version.

I also feel like Samsung have caught up now in battery life. But also the camera on the S23 Ultra seems better. Who knows maybe Apple will come along in September and beat it. I just think Apple need to innovate more and think outside the box rather than playing it safe and boring.

They’ve caught up with battery life by cheating and seemingly effecting the screen. I cannot see how you can declare a phone that has a noticeable flicker on its screen like some cheap knock off brand of manufacturer as anything but cheap. The screen is one of the most important things on a touchscreen so to cheap out on that aspect is just shoddy. Let alone showing a lack of care for those that are effected by such things.

If I was running Apple I’d exactly the same as they have done as it’s only really sound business sense.

Do you actually know that for a fact or are you just having a guess? From what I've read the increase in battery life is due to the much more efficient snapdragon chip, not anything to do with the screen.
