Hi all is this good battery life? I've done loads of tweaks and debloat but I was thinking of factory reset as see people with 10 hours on screen time and I don't seem to be getting that, hope I have got a defect battery lol View attachment 2170840
No that’s good. I was getting 10 hours or more.

Oh jeez you have Facebook app? I never could get ANY phone to give me good battery life with that app on there. Even closing it when I was done didn’t seem to help. My husband has the FB app and we sometimes wonder if it’s always listening.

My daughter runs the Reddit app and she says she has to close it down when she’s not using it or it drains her battery, so I guess social media apps are just like that?? I use Twitter but through the web only.

I use Duck Duck Go as my browser on iOS and Android and now rarely see my phone run hot on websites like this one.

My guess is stealing data is what drains our phones.

I can’t really say what my s23 Ultra usage is this week as I’m mostly just carrying my 14 Pro Max because I’m doing heavy manual labor. I don’t have rugged cases for my Samsungs. What I’m doing could kill the display on my s23 Ultra in its clear or silicone cases.

I actually want to use my 12 mini or my SE3 but then I have to figure out the e sim thing and I don’t want to be bothered. Sometimes I just go out with my Apple Watch. I’ve already smashed that poor watch but it’s tough.

Hi I've used package disabler pro ill send screen shot of what disabled and I've done a few things from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ung-galaxy-one-ui-optimization-guide.4376755/

Also running light profile,60hz,wqhd,disabled all Google and Samsung tracking and diagnostics ect,put some apps to deep sleep, turned off find my phone both Google and samsung (don't recommend but I have) and lots of other bits ill try to remember

Just stuff that to me doesn't take away using the device as it should be used but disabling loads that I don't use or need I honestly thought I wasn't getting good battery life after seeing lots of people's 12hour onscreen times lol 😆

As much as I'd love your battery life, I read through about half of that and closed it out. Haha. I actually want to use my phone to the fullest capacities.

Whoa that’s a LOT you did. I’m running the display full spec. I never do agree to tracking and diagnostics from the set up requests.

I did have to turn off AOD from displaying all the time since that cut into standby time to where I could notice it. Now it just turns on when I tap the screen.

On an unrelated note, thank you for showing part of your apps list. Great to know that Vanced lives on, I had no idea until now. Works like a charm

And when i see posts like this i know i wont leave apple, i am too old for this ****
You don't have to do anything to make the S23 Ultra run great. Nothing at all. I get around 32 hours of standby with 5 hours on screen. The device has similar battery life as the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Some people do want to tinker with their devices and on Android this is just possible. So if someone wants he/she can even further optimize the device. You don't have though to do anything.

Totally agree that's why I stay with android my partner has the 14 pro max and its nice but I can't do half the things I want to do compared to android and yes people don't need to do anything to the s23 ultra I just choose to get rid of anything I don't use that's the joy of android flexibility 😉

Happy to report that battery like has greatly improved today after doing the factory reset. I do not have any Good Lock modules running today. Not sure if that's the difference maker or not or if the reset did it. But current state, I'll end the day between 9 and 10 hours SOT which is right on par with the iPhone 14PM

Good to hear. I've become really happy with Home Up, the option to swipe up and show every open app via multiple tiles is so handy. I don't know if I want to disable that, haha. Interested to hear your battery stats after some more time but this seems promising.

Yeah I'm really tempted to enable Home Up again. I'm really starting to wonder if it was something else causing the drain.

Glad you got it sorted, factory resetting on Android can be painful setting everything up again but I think it will be worth it in your case.

Do you love apple?

I know this is KINDA a bit off topic but does anyone else really WANT to be all apple?

I like their privacy ethics, I like their design and it's almost easier because you have to buy from a limited range of equipment all of which will work in the ecosystem.

I really feel like I want to love their stuff...

but yet windows feels faster and more flexible (if not as pretty), android feels more configurable and now with the s23u I really rate the camera system as much better than the ip14pm.

ARGH!

I don't love any company and have grown tired of Apple's anti-consumer practices as of late and shoddy QC / support with AirPods Pro 2. "It just works" isn't a selling point to me anymore. The ultimate dagger for me will be if come September the iPhone 15 series uses some MFi that cripples the USB-C port somehow. That would be very scummy of them.

This is the first time an Android phone has felt quicker and smoother to me than an iPhone, with the S23+. Gestures, swiping, screen responsiveness, switching between apps, going straight to home screen upon unlock. The Buds 2 Pro have been very surprising (in a great way) and work just as well as AirPods do with iPhones. The key difference being that I can actually make phone calls now using ear buds.

I'm not sure I hate iOS but my email with Apple has become unreliable and that's a huge problem for me now for understandable reasons.

It's mostly outgoing email that's just disappearing into the ether, but with the snafus I'm dealing with trying to get my mom set up with optimal care and the complete lack of communication I'm experiencing with administration, I can't have the spectre of unreliable email hanging over me.

My husband is now handling communicating with the care facility just in case their communication with me is also disappearing.

For everything else, I'm now checking emails on Samsung S22 Ultra and my iphone and copying everything to multiple email addresses, that's how messed up it is. My husband can't track down the problem. (I haven't fully set up email on my S 23 Ultra yet. I'm just using my Gmail account and app on that).

Lol I'm typing this on my S22 Ultra. It's still being used.

Today and for the next several weeks, whenever circumstances permit, I'm clearing out 3 different mold and rodent contaminated sites: farm building, garage and the house I grew up in. It's hard, grubby and somewhat dangerous work because it's easy to fall, have stuff fall on you, crash into things.

When I do work like this I appreciate how tough my 14 Pro Max feels. It's just in a little Spigen case, but it's got a sturdy glass screen protector on it. It's an easy to clean phone. And I guess I can appreciate how they're trying to remove places dirt and moisture can get into these phones in the future.

I can't imagine taking my S23 Ultra along on this particular work unless I get a rugged case for it.

I think the regular S23 phones would be good to take to a messy work site, too. I'm so glad Samsung took the sensible route on the S23 design.

I really appreciate flat glass fronts. I'm not thrilled about Apple going back to curved bezel glass. My SE3 and iphone 11 are built that way and debris always collects around the screen protectors.

Sorry I am babbling. Lol now I have to get my butt in gear and do laundry and take care of the cats. My husband is calling in dinner. No way I'm cooking today! My poor feet! 😖 I have so much admiration and appreciate people who do heavy physical labor all the time for a living.
